  • Welcome aboard "Peaceful", a year 2000 Huckins Atlantic 44 that has just recently hit the market. At the time of shooting the video, the yacht was for sale through Huckins Yachts for $235,000 and was lying in Huckins yard in Jacksonville, Florida.
    This boat gives the best of both worlds when it comes to Huckins. On one hand, you have a timeless classic design that everyone can spot as a Huckins a mile away. This includes cruising at speeds in excess of 20 knots with no more than 3 degree bowrise. However, this one also benefits from being a fiberglass construction meaning the maintenance is far less than you would ever expect!!
    Onboard, a tasteful refit has taken place and the boat is in turn key condition ready to go. You can find the details of this boat on Huckins Yachts website at www.huckinsyacht.com.
    I hope you enjoy this video!

    There is just something about Huckins yachts. They are timeless . Hard to believe this particular boat is over twenty years old. Well done to the owners.

      When Huckins call me up and ask me to pop along for another video, the answer will always be yes 🤠. They have another I need to schedule but will probably be a few weeks before I can get it added to the channel.

      Looking forward to seeing the next Huckins video. To me they are classics, even the new ones. I for one am glad they have kept the look they are known for. Much like the Whiticars. @@GarnockReviews

      I love how it's been tastefully refitted. Everything appears to be in great condition without being over the top and modernized excessively.

    Another gem. In just the last week Garnock, you’ve given us a two wonderful & diverse choices from Great Harbor & Huckins. Both are dream machines despite their differences. This one belongs in a Travis Magee novel ( except for those V berths.

      Good old John D. McDonald. I've read the Travis McGee novels over and over. Thanks for reminding me of them. Gonna start them over now.

    Great review as always. The narration is a little delayed toward the end. I did not see a double cabin, just the two singles up in the V. Beautiful boat.

      Thanks Joe. Something weird going on with audio that I will keep troubleshooting. The audio on my laptop file works perfect, but when it gets uploaded to CZcams there is sometimes a delay sync issue and also sometimes weird noises etc. A couple of people have commented on this on more recent videos, makes me wonder if there was an update somewhere that changed something. I appreciate you watching and I certainly appreciate the feedback 😉

    Classic lines. A gentleman’s cruiser to be sure. Shows well and needs nothing…but a new owner. This is very close if not perfect for me. There must be somewhere to plug in a washer/dryer or a washer with a high speed spin cycle so you dry your cloths on a line in that massive cockpit. I’m pretty sure that you could use this boat for five years and sell it for close to what you paid as long as you kept up with all the maintenance.

    • @GarnockReviews
      @GarnockReviews  Před 3 měsíci

      I love how it looks like the classic boat from the 60s, but with modern tech and low maintenance upkeep. I'm sure there has to be somewhere for a small washer but most marinas have one available anyway.

      I never saw it at that time or I'd go viral for all the wrong reasons 😆. I don't think it is, looks more like a hose when I zoom in. 🤔

    13'9" beam... doesn't seem like that would be trailerable on most roads?

    • @GarnockReviews
      @GarnockReviews  Před měsícem

      I did a quick Google search, and I'm in no means an expert. However, apparently, an 18-wheeler in Florida can be 16 feet wide if it has the right permits, and I believe it needs a pilot car.

    I help build this boat. Its nice. But the 44 we built afer this one was really nice. I loved it. And we built a really bad ass 58 also. Huckins are really really nice boats. This boat hes showing is 24 years old. Look how nice it still is. These boats also haul ass and very maneuverable

      @GarnockReviews  Před 2 měsíci

      I've been fortunate to film several Huckins now since starting my channel. These boats never disappoint from the wooden boats of the 50s, to more modern fiberglass boats like this.

    One guy bought a Hatteras 53 , he found out while walking on the flybridge deck that something soft not waterproofed was the interbal core under glass deck of tge hatterase flybridge as his weight on the deck produced a soft sandwich type imprint with each step taken. He had cut out a large portion of the deck right to edge of the port and starboard sides, the rotten cheap Hatteras core was located under the flying bridge helm seat he though is was a two by two ft. Rotted section of Hatterases hidden cheap third world materials it turned out to be a large portion of the flybridge deck. Note that manufactures of multi million dollar boats are real cheap under the glass. I looked a review of a recent Hatteras 60+ plus foot motor yacht inside abd out what i saw was clearly Cheap Bayliner garbage with engines for a 100 ft tug boat this boat i would never buy all white inside and out with Ostrige leather used for seating marerial (Big Deal!) i could not believe the size of the engines 1000 hp each 6 ft tall. I spoke with the Hatteras designer years ago telling him at that time that if the company continued with space ship designs they would lose the market. For example these big yachts multi millions in cost with these open stern sections and these sliding balcany doors all these very dangerious if in storm
    And u have twenty foot waves smashing into the stern smashing through their apartment balcany doors. Its not about sea worthyness anymore its about lake and pond storms in the canals where most of these multi million dollars yachts sit for 20 years with 3000 hrs on the engine at the age of twenty years for sale. Hatteras went cheap i can tell, take a look at a 1979 58 yachtfisherman then look at the tupperware Hatteras is building now which yacht is more sea worthy the old 70's 58 or the 2019 60+ and which is more solid. I state that Hatteras is now the multi million dollar version of Bayliner. I told the head of their design team on the phone and by email to return the old 53 and extended transom 53-58 as classics he said never this was ten years ago. I also complained to them that they created at one point by stretching a 53 mold into a 65 mold since both had the same beam another cheap cost cutting measure by hatteras i do not precisely remember the exact sized of boat i noted in the case of the lengthened mold that the beam was the same for the smaller hull which was used (Streched) for the bigger hull with no increase in beam according too the correct length to beam ratio. The older designs in the 70's and early 80's are selling more then tgese new Hatterases they are building now. We see fewer and fewer models from hatteras in the 50 ft range of motor yachts this happens when you take a great design and eliminate it in favour of a spaceship bayliner design. Hatteras better return to the designs of the seventies or go out of business. I warned them, the CEO of Hattaras needs to fire his chief designer and hire one that says we must bring back the 53/58 classics to stay in the market and revert back to detroit diesels.

      It's an insulated double walled hull. It's bad ass. Most boats are single walled.
