Word of advice for any current blood angels players: pick up at least a box of the old death company sprue for kitbashing. As a Dark Angel player, the old Company Veterans are still an amazing source of bits for kitbashing, with 80-90% still fitting primaris scale models.
This feels like a way for GW to sell the old kit without having to shove it in a battleforce or christmas box. "The conversion kits are getting worse, we've seen a 200% jump in sales of the kit we're trying to clear out anyway"
Also buy the old Sanguinary Guard cos they're great for 30K too and I bet once they go OOP the boxes sell for a ton. Also a good source of plastic MKV jump packs for any legion.
It looked more like 6+++ to me, but glad you and others are seeing 4+++. He’d have a hell of a tough profile if that’s true. Now if they cut libby dreads but give Mephiston a WoS ability, he’d be an absolutely stupidly broken character. And I’d take him every game haha.

The upgrade sprue pics looked pretty weak. Even if you slapped every piece on your marines they still kind of just looked like Black Ultramarines. The Dreadnought is especially guilty of this.
Also, WHY ONLY ONE HELMET! Blood Angels have awesome helmet designs, just look at Firstborn DC and SG kits but here you give one helmet with a simple blood drop and 8 stupid faces. Useless.

Lemartes and Astorath updates are pretty nice, but there should be Sanguinary Guard and Sanguinor reveal later on, I'm the most curious about their refreshes
People don't seem to understand that Corbulo was already replaced by the plastic Sanguinary Priest model years ago, he was meant to be Corbulo but they decided at last minute to make him generic. That's why he has the same loadout.
I really like how the new Lemartes pose looks like he’s a touch more feral than his old one. The old one doesn’t really seem like a death company mini, like I know he has more control than his brothers but he’s still a feral monster

@@riven5677 Yeah. I imagine it as the death company as a whole are feral dogs without a leash, always charging in randomly and uncontrollably, but Lemartes is the only one who still has a leash, and can keep himself together when he needs to.
I'm glad that Lemartes is actually standing on the ground as opposed to far too many recent sculpts where characters insist on posing on a rock to the point it feels rather comical and the only thing missing is their loyal assistant tasked with carrying that rock along whenever the character decides to move.
Welp Brothers, it was nice being Upper Tier for a bit. We got a Codex, and someone probably messed with the SoS Detachment despite it being strong but fine at the moment.

If dark angels Deathwing terminators are anything to go off of, they’ll be the exact same as their generic equivalent with a singular extra wargear option to take but different abilities. Which seems likely based off the teasers. They’ll also probably be way cheaper though, so while they’ll lose any punch against heavy stuff like vehicles, they’ll likely be similar points value when attacking lighter stuff like most infantry (maybe some heavy stuff like terms they’ll struggle into).

If you get the DA and BA treatment you get an upgrade sprue with 1 terminator chest piece, and lose all the combining the wolfguard termies had with mixing weapons. maybe more powerswords, GW looooves giving the current marines power swords, for some reason.
I’m so jealous of black Templars who actually got a good faithful refresh to their sword brethren… literally the only updated unique unit that’s been good. New Deathwing termies lost tons of personality and just stole gk unique helmet, now death company don’t even get that they just get an upgrade sprue and not even a good one
It's nice to see a very good update to both Lemartes and Astorath, both very nice models. Really throws into perspective just how awful the new Coteaz is though.
Lemates and Astorath look amazing and are really well done. But overall, I'm disappointed but not surprised. Everything else is basic intercessor/brutalis kits with black paint and BA shoulder pads or a single skull and crossbones. It's a MASSIVE downgrade from the Firstborn DC marine and Dreadnought kits. It's the VERY basic stuff we all expected/feared for Death Company. No flare, no cool BA or DC iconography, just basic black intercessors. It seems Seth was right.

Dark angel terminators also lost their thunder hammer option so it seems to be a pattern and I’m wondering if they have said anything anywhere because they seem to have a policy that can be essentially boiled down to “remove thunder hammer” if there’s any other options the unit can take.
In the wake of the likely removal of the Librarian Dreadnoughtl & Mephiston also gaining Lone Operative, it makes me think that he will be gaining the Librarian dred's ability to teleport a unit up the board.

Boy I SURE DO LOVE that Games Workshop keep putting ALL OF MY MINIS INTO LEGENDS so that they can sell new models that have FEWER OPTIONS and typically LOOK WORSE! It's such a refreshing feeling knowing that everything I have bought could be gone at ANY MOMENT! But hey, maybe we'll finally get a good codex for this edition? I don't mean Blood Angels, I mean that statistically at least _one army_ should get a codex that's better than one they had in 9th, right? Right?
Pretty clear the lots of red references the fact that this box is basically ALL Death Company. I don't expect many other huge upgrades on standard marine units, but the Sang gang update is 100% coming.
The most surprising part here is that they haven't shown (yet) the Sanguinary guards and (hopefully) the Sanguinor. I'd also say that the new blood angel upgrade kit is, like every others recent upgrade kits, very disapointing. They couldn't even slap a proper furioso bit in there.

Lemartes, in metal, was the first model I painted when i started back into the hobby years ago. I wouldn't say the new one looks better than the original, but the pose looks great, and that banded metal is pretty slick. I've been out for a while, but if there's new Blood Angels coming out I may have to start painting again.
Don't be happy for the BA folk, they don't like this. My BA friends aren't even happy with the new characters (even if they were good the fun was spoiled by everything else sucking ass)

I am really excited about the character model’s redesign. You can definitely use the first born DC kit for BA bits. The helmets and shoulder pads are definitely compatible with the Primaris.
I had a ton of BA kitbashes planned to make some unique models special to me, mainly using firstborn parts and sprucing up some primaries. But now I don't really have a reason to do that and I feel kinda bummed ! 😂

Going through my 4th Edition/5th Edition BA Codex (really get confused but it was released 2009). I am fairly certain we’ll get a golden host themed detachment centered around sanguinary guards and hopefully new Vanguard Vets (this seems unlikely imo).
With basic math, there’s over $420 worth of plastic in there so it makes sense. $80 for the Brutalis $120 for Jump Pack Intercessors $62.50 for regular Intercessors $45 for Lemartes $45 for Astorath $35 for Upgrade Sprue and transfers $60 for limited edition supplement
New Lemartes model looks like a leagues of votann dude cosplaying a space marine, looks like a firstborn space marine sculpt. Astorath already looks like a 20 year old model. GW needs to step their game up
What is it with sub-par remake models recently? First we had Coteaz, now Lemartes and Astorath, and Death Company and even the DC Dread - all look comparatively less detailed than their original incarnations... And more weapon options gone... Space Marines were always supposed to be the newbie friendly "tweak it until you get it" army... Instead they turn into single loadout Eldar wanna-bees.
The death company might retain a few weapon options based on the sergeant gear in the kits, from memory the on foot ones get thunder hammers and power fists and a couple of pistol options.
Assault squad is most likely a primaris version of the firstborn assault squad. I said as soon as it got dumped that Blood Angels needed an equivalent as as chapter specific unit. Blood Angels had the original Veteran Assault Squads before it got standardised for all chapters. It would be good to have a proper assault squad back. I bet they'll have access to the evicerator from the upgrade sprue as well.
Not gonna lie, I do hope that whenever they bring back the Librarian Dreadnought, if they do, they make one for all chapters. Imo it was always weird that only BA got them and they're so cool in concept
When Dante eventually dies. It will probably be for a massive refresh. It would be cool if they gave you a way to integrate his old model into a new sanguinor model. Kind of like a death and rebirth Jesus scene.

A Great Box! I think I will buy it for the wonderful chaplain and the Brutalis Dreadnought. I also could need some Jump Pack Units so thats even better. I think I will convert the Intercessors with my leftover Dark Angels Bits and Sell of the rest. Very exciting!
Personally waiting on Necromunda forge world models but this was an interesting surprise. Hope Furiosa dread doesn't get shelved but the boxset makes me have doubts.
This is the first announcement from gw in a while which has excited me, hopefully they follow up with more blood angel models outside of the death company
I think the change from 19 to 18 is that currently there are 3 datasheets for death company infantry (DC Marines, DC Marines with Jump packs, and DC intercessors) now that it'll just be 2 of those because there won't be any distinction between DC Marines and DC Intercessors
Is it finally time to talk about the physics of SM shoulder pads?… Like if they are supposed to be actuated moving plates shouldn’t the shoulder joint rotate independently underneath, and the pauldrons stay roughly in place above the shoulder…. Talking about astorath here.

As a new blood angels player who started in 9th (thus not having any nostalgia for firstborn) I am super exited for this new box. I love the aesthetics of primaris and redemptor class dreadnoughts are my all time favorite 40k model. Hopefully, the death company dreadnought is a different datasheet to the Brutalis, so i could theoretically bring 3x Brutes and 3x death company to a game. Usaully a solo brutalis just get focused down by bright lances or something, but eat six filthy elves.

I have all of the old firstborn minis and I’m still stoked for this box. I typically play the old DC dread next to my Brutalis and it looks silly. I’m excited to have a DC version of the Brutalis as I think it is the best looking dread in the game.

Boy I SURE DO LOVE that Games Workshop keep putting ALL OF MY MINIS INTO LEGENDS so that they can sell new models that have FEWER OPTIONS and typically LOOK WORSE! It's such a refreshing feeling knowing that everything I have bought could be gone at ANY MOMENT!
But hey, maybe we'll finally get a good codex for this edition? I don't mean Blood Angels, I mean that statistically at least _one army_ should get a codex that's better than one they had in 9th, right? Right?

Pretty clear the lots of red references the fact that this box is basically ALL Death Company. I don't expect many other huge upgrades on standard marine units, but the Sang gang update is 100% coming.

The most surprising part here is that they haven't shown (yet) the Sanguinary guards and (hopefully) the Sanguinor.
I'd also say that the new blood angel upgrade kit is, like every others recent upgrade kits, very disapointing.
They couldn't even slap a proper furioso bit in there.

God, I'm so nervous about this. This supplement needs to be fun and engaging or I'm gonna feel completely drained for this edition. This might be the one that determines if I like 10th or not.
Edit: "Not sure what the "red" is" Auspex it's literally just "hey we're only showing Death Company right now but we've got some regular Blood Angels models coming soon" because Blood Angels wear _red armor._
Lemartes, in metal, was the first model I painted when i started back into the hobby years ago. I wouldn't say the new one looks better than the original, but the pose looks great, and that banded metal is pretty slick.
I've been out for a while, but if there's new Blood Angels coming out I may have to start painting again.
As a SM player I am happy for the BA folk - but jealous that there are so many BA jump chaplains. I just need one...

I was hoping to get new Guards but two new models aren't bad.

I am really excited about the character model’s redesign. You can definitely use the first born DC kit for BA bits. The helmets and shoulder pads are definitely compatible with the Primaris.

I had a ton of BA kitbashes planned to make some unique models special to me, mainly using firstborn parts and sprucing up some primaries. But now I don't really have a reason to do that and I feel kinda bummed ! 😂

Going through my 4th Edition/5th Edition BA Codex (really get confused but it was released 2009). I am fairly certain we’ll get a golden host themed detachment centered around sanguinary guards and hopefully new Vanguard Vets (this seems unlikely imo).
That box set is going to be so expensive knowing how they discount things. I’m not going to be surprised if it’s north of $300 US

What is it with sub-par remake models recently?
First we had Coteaz, now Lemartes and Astorath, and Death Company and even the DC Dread - all look comparatively less detailed than their original incarnations...
And more weapon options gone...
Space Marines were always supposed to be the newbie friendly "tweak it until you get it" army... Instead they turn into single loadout Eldar wanna-bees.
The death company might retain a few weapon options based on the sergeant gear in the kits, from memory the on foot ones get thunder hammers and power fists and a couple of pistol options.

Assault squad is most likely a primaris version of the firstborn assault squad. I said as soon as it got dumped that Blood Angels needed an equivalent as as chapter specific unit. Blood Angels had the original Veteran Assault Squads before it got standardised for all chapters. It would be good to have a proper assault squad back. I bet they'll have access to the evicerator from the upgrade sprue as well.
Not gonna lie, I do hope that whenever they bring back the Librarian Dreadnought, if they do, they make one for all chapters. Imo it was always weird that only BA got them and they're so cool in concept
When Dante eventually dies. It will probably be for a massive refresh. It would be cool if they gave you a way to integrate his old model into a new sanguinor model. Kind of like a death and rebirth Jesus scene.

A Great Box! I think I will buy it for the wonderful chaplain and the Brutalis Dreadnought. I also could need some Jump Pack Units so thats even better. I think I will convert the Intercessors with my leftover Dark Angels Bits and Sell of the rest. Very exciting!
Personally waiting on Necromunda forge world models but this was an interesting surprise. Hope Furiosa dread doesn't get shelved but the boxset makes me have doubts.

I think the change from 19 to 18 is that currently there are 3 datasheets for death company infantry (DC Marines, DC Marines with Jump packs, and DC intercessors) now that it'll just be 2 of those because there won't be any distinction between DC Marines and DC Intercessors
If you don't like the new models the 3dmodellers will likely have new versons within 48 hours just as they did for a recent Inquition model in nappies
Unlikely they will combine DC Intercessors and Jump Intercessors. The Datacard even states with Jump Packs.

Like if they are supposed to be actuated moving plates shouldn’t the shoulder joint rotate independently underneath, and the pauldrons stay roughly in place above the shoulder….

As a new blood angels player who started in 9th (thus not having any nostalgia for firstborn) I am super exited for this new box. I love the aesthetics of primaris and redemptor class dreadnoughts are my all time favorite 40k model. Hopefully, the death company dreadnought is a different datasheet to the Brutalis, so i could theoretically bring 3x Brutes and 3x death company to a game. Usaully a solo brutalis just get focused down by bright lances or something, but eat six filthy elves.
It's not only nostalgia. Mind you, it's the fact there's only one weapon option for dc now qhere There were multiple times before most people were mad at gw for lazy releases like this they could very easily have done something similar for ba like they did with templars but chose to be lazy about

I have all of the old firstborn minis and I’m still stoked for this box. I typically play the old DC dread next to my Brutalis and it looks silly. I’m excited to have a DC version of the Brutalis as I think it is the best looking dread in the game.
