Pipe is measured by Inside diameter Tubing is OD. Therfore for a pipe with an 1/4 opening surrounded by enough iron to maintain pressure is going to need a considerable larger hole than a bolt that it's most extreme will still fall a few thousand short of 1/4. Hope I may have cleared that up a Lil for you. You can take a 1/4 ×20 bolt and drop threaed end straight into the end of a 1/4 in pipe. That's why there's such a difference. I have a friend that refers to a 3/8 bolt as a 9/16, or a 1/4×20 as a 7/16. He calls them by the size wrench he uses to remove the fastners. Can make for some astonished hardware store employees when he asks for coarse thread 9/16 inch bolts for securing 20 gauge sheet metal to lawn mower

Pipe tap sizing is the internal diameter of the fittings which is counterintuitive. If I break a standard tap I grind it flat to make it a bottoming tap. Nice review, nice tools!

This was originally the Ace Super Set No. 606 as well as MAC Tools model 606 and MATCO 606TD. Same design cases.

New camera or lighting or shooting mode? Things were super clear but had more auto focusing than usual. What camera do you use?

  • @nareshangelia-sookrajjr.1365

That’s the same set snap on sells rebranded as their own. I’ve been thinking about buying it (my student discount will let me buy it for the same price as a non snap on branded set so I figured why not)

This set is identical to the Snap On branded tap and die sets ive seen sold on the tool trucks. Not sure what the price or warranty differences are though.

think of galvanized pipes, the 1/8" is the inside dimension of the pipe but the Tap is for the union or the nut that the galvanized pipe fits into but the thread is NPT, if you think of galvanized pipe you will understand that the thickness of the pipe wall is very thick but the inside dimension is 1/8". I know you know this that you tap the outside of the pipe.

@@llib90630 yep using taps and dies are apart of my daily job I'm a tool and die maker, and in a pinch I've ran to harbor freight and bought these sets but there really not even worth throwing away lol. The only thing they have going for them is they are hss not carbon steel like some elcheapo taps
