I have needed a (virtual) dad in US since I left my own country about twenty years ago. Thanks for the video!
OMG, thanks for sharing this! That Toja Grid pergola. It's exactly what I've been looking for my extended backyard patio!
I love the graphic in the beginning. Very slick!
That was so easy & practical, I'm gonna make one myself. Thank you Sir.
Wow. I need to put these parts into the backyard living builder app
wow. we should put this in our app for backyard living spaces.
Beautiful and perfect 👌 job
Been looking at this stuff for a while, trying to justify the cost but... you have convinced me. Thanks for the vid.
Thanks. These days, the wood may cost more than the kit!
Very cool. We’ve been kicking around the Pergola idea for our Michigan lake house. We will check them out and look forward to your videos. Thank you. 😊❤
I’m planning a TOJA project this Spring.
So awesome!!! Thanks!
This is exactly what we’ve been looking for!
Where are you thinking of putting it?
HandyDadTV we are going to put it in our backyard. We have a 48 feet distance from our back patio to the garage and we recently had cement put in.
HandyDadTV were also wanting to do 15’ x 24’
Wow that’s a big space. Glad it’s on concrete because it’s easy to anchor. How big of a pergola are you planning? Don’t forget the footprint is a little bigger than the listed “size”. Please use my link so I get credit - handydad.tv/shoptoja
wow. great information.
Thanks, very good information.
Glad it was helpful!
Love your videos!! Can you make one on how to install a hanging hammock chair inside a home?
No but if you make one, I’ll be happy to put it on my channel.
Going to do the same kit I think!
Awesome! If you do, please buy through my link so I get credit - handydad.tv/shoptoja
The white pergola looks nice. How far from your house is it positioned, meaning is there a huge gap from back door to being under pergola? Thanks.
Thanks Dad!
😊👍🏻💯
Love it 😍
Thanks for your informative video. Would you consider adding the Toja sun shade top cover to a pergola design that is similar in construction style to the white one at the beginning of this video? I've noticed that the Toja sun shade seems to be attached by screw-in brackets along the perimeter, I think I can swing that with my current pergola. My hesitation is that I won't be using the Toja corner bracket posts. In your experience, can this Toja sun shade be affixed in the corners of any pergola using the hardware that the sun shade comes with? Thank you for your time and consideration.
Read my blog about that white pergola. Look for the “Shade” heading. handydad.tv/pergola
Great video.. cheers
Any suggestions on securing this to an existing paver patio?
Do not attempt to secure a pergola to pavers; they will not hold it down in the wind.
The best way to install any pergola on a paver patio would be to pull up some pavers and sink the legs into the ground, like we did in my Jersey Shore Pergola video (czcams.com/video/QH6yUi5v5IU/video.html), then cut the pavers to reinstall around the posts.
Alternatively, pull up some pavers under each leg and pour concrete footings level to the surface. Then you could bolt the pergola leg brackets to the concrete.
Thank you for the advice. I bought a double Pergola Grid using your link a few days ago.
Thanks so much! Please send me pictures when it’s done: chris@handydad.tv
The patio is being built now. I had them put in concrete footers so I'll have something to fasten the pergola to. I just posted a time lapse of day 1 of the patio build to my channel
You didn’t tell me you’d do video! Watched and subscribed! Can’t wait to see the next one.
Nice👏
Go Rutgers! Any idea how these toja grids withstand high winds or hurricane. I play to put some cement posts down below the frost line. I am planning to put multiple setups in the backyard for privacy.
The sail shades are fine for normal thunderstorms but take them off before any tropical storm or hurricane. The buckles make that easy.
It's a really cool system, but pricey. $650 for their basic 8x8 pergola kit. Doesn't include the wood posts. Or a Canadian to deliver and install it. Just four brace brackets, four corner brackets, and the wind sail. You can make a similar pergola with Simpson strong-tie bases at $17 each, 4 corner brackets for deer blind platforms for about $120, and a sail shade for about $30 on Amazon.
Your argument is like saying a Chromebook is cheaper than a Mac. Sure, you can hack a pergola together or build one from scratch for less. This product fits a good niche for people who want quick and easy. Based on the way it’s been selling, I’d say people see value in this product.
HandyDadTV Not making an argument, simply pointing out it's rather expensive for what you get. Why are you getting so defensive?
Because TOJA is a partner of mine and you’re criticizing their product in a public comment for the world to see. I’m not going to just leave that here without a rebuttal.
HandyDadTV Oh, bias...got ya ;)
Both are valid points. Something to consider for everyone.
Nice product but the pricing is INSANE, especially considering that you purchase the wood posts yourself. Not sure how they justify those price points for metal joints and a tarp.
Mark J. Bullock saw them at home hardware yesterday. Pricing is disgusting. The shade is $365. Like wtf....
I guess the reasoning is you don't have to buy a saw, drill, measuring tape.... 😂😂😂
You ever see the prices for pergolas? I'm guessing this might be a cheaper option.
The pricing is criminal! It's a shame.
I priced out a basic 12x12 pergola minimalist design including pressure-treated wood (4x4 posts), brackets and base covers with.2x6 added side support lumber and flat top slats for $420. Add screws and a UV shade, that's $80 more. I own a drill.
I just don't have a truck or help.
Why are they charging so much? Do you foresee their prices changing fir the average consumer?
@@79bnice This prefab minimalist design has less than half the material of a traditional plergola. I think they're charging for convenience.
@@genghis_connie They are usually 20% off around holidays.
I live in south Florida with hurricanes. I understand that the sail shade should be removed prior to the storm, but what about the post or wall brackets?
No need. The frame alone has minimal wind resistance. If it's attached properly, it should be fine in any wind.
When installing over porcelain pavers, do you think the column base needs to have a concrete base underneath the paver?
Yes
@@handydadtv Thank you!
Excellent video
I need to buld a car park
What i will get in the package ?
The kits come with the metal brackets, the sail shade(s), and screws. You provide the wood.
We ordered one to put up this weekend. But we want it taught. If we have a 10x12 section do we order a 10x12 sail?
The sails are sized and adjustable so you shouldn’t need to cut your wood. Just use the standard lengths.
Do you have any discount or promo codes for this product
They run sales often; just had one last weekend. Follow @tojagrid on social media to be notified.
hello im just asking if it suppose to screw in the ground? im thingking to istall on our grass and i dont want to dig a hole and put a cement for tha post.
You can’t screw into the ground. Use this method czcams.com/video/QH6yUi5v5IU/video.html
@@handydadtv thank's for reply ! i got one more question how about the deck block for tha post so i can move around just incase? im realy like this TOJA grid and i'm going to get this next week but i;m afraid to install becouse im not profesional . thank you and sorry for my gramar i hope you can understand ..
Not sure what you mean by “deck block”.
@@handydadtv sorry this what i meant for the post. by using this kind of deck block.... czcams.com/video/AhDbUkJX1jk/video.html
No, you can’t use that kind of block. You need to secure the pergola to the ground or it will blow over in the wind and possibly kill somebody.
Does anyone know a coupon code that I could use?
Question.... Sponsored video? Didn't hear any cons, not to mention the pricing....
Not a sponsor, but I am an affiliate.
Well you also want a pergola to be strong and sturdy
See how I installed my first TOJA Grid pergola at czcams.com/video/QH6yUi5v5IU/video.html.
Can this be installed on grass?
Yes. Get 10-foot long posts and bury them 2 feet in the ground with cement.
Like this czcams.com/video/QH6yUi5v5IU/video.html
I am from India can you send me how much it costs if I give you area
