Some Tower Control tips too as of v2.0.1:
Splash Wall, Squid Beacon and Sprinkler can be placed on the tower too with no effect to their HP or duration.
Beacon and Sprinkler can serve as a small shield for you on the tower besides providing jumps and painting turf as you move into enemy territory.
For wall, you can place it by jumping and swimming off the tower while tossing it at a corner or by ricocheting it off a nearby wall.
Also tower can eat all 3 of these subs if they are placed in the moving path of the tower 😳
Finally!Someone else who knows about sprinkler-shield!
I feel like a fun way to buff the Angle Shooter would be to give it a “Smart Bounce” where if there’s anyone close when it ricochets, it’s bounce towards them rather than in the normal direction. It’d make it immensely good for seeking players and applying long-range pressure, while still keeping it subpar at best when at close-range or when no one’s close enough to lock on to.

This guide looks pro-fresh-ionally made! I will definitely reference it in future sub weapon articles on Inkipedia. However, there are a few tips and keys that you might have overlooked:
* While direct splats with Splat Bombs are not always common, especially at top-flight, the threat of an instant splat still forces an opponent to move. Therefore, throwing a Splat Bomb so it lands on one side of an opponent forces them to move the other way, allowing you to better predict their future movement. They might even take splash damage, making it easier to finish off a weakened opponent. Back in the original Splatoon, the Custom Range Blaster had a notorious Splat Bomb + splash combo, thanks to the three subs of Damage Up.
* A Suction Bomb placed on a corner or ledge so that it barely sticks out can splat an opponent on the other side of the corner or ledge. I have seen this happen in top-flight tournament play a couple times at least.
* In top-flight, due to its lack of versatility, the Curling Bomb is best utilized by a user of a weapon that has at least medium-long range (i.e., is not dependent on bombs to expand threat range) and would like to move around constantly. Currently (as of this writing), only the REEF-LUX 4500 fits this category. Back in Splatoon 2, the Bamboozler 14 Mk I filled this role. Using Curling Bomb to carve paths for a short-ranged weapon user to quickly travel through opposing ink will be swiftly punished at top-flight.
* For similar reasons above, the Squid Beakon is also best on weapons that are less dependent on bombs to extend attack range. It also helps weapons that render their users less mobile. The Tenta Brella, while not long-ranged, has a durable, launchable shield that can permit its user to more safely approach their opponents without needing a bomb for displacement. Back in Splatoon 2, the Ballpoint Splatling Nouveau had more than enough range to function without a bomb, and Beakons allowed its user to more quickly move about as the turf changed.
What exactly does Sub Power Up do for Toxic Mist? Just throw range?
When I clicked on this I only wanted to check out one or two subs, but stuck around for all of them because… this is really well made what the heck!! I’m no algorithm expert but I expect this to blow up, and for good reasons. Congrats, great vid ^_^
I’d personally disagree with the fizzy on ballpoint being good, the fact that it needs extra time to throw it and has lots of recovery frames clashes with how the weapon plays. would have liked any of the utility subs more
Valid! I think other things fit well with the main but fizzy at least gives different options!
I would add tips for aiming with angle shooter because it is weird as it doesn't follow your reticle.
As said in the video, you need to aim at the ground in order to hit someone at the same height as you. To hit someone higher and not too far from you, you should put your reticle higher as the sub will go a bit lower than the reticle. From experience that's for sure the hardest situation to hit someone with the sub.
It's a little hard to explain like that, but it's definitely easier to understand when you test it out.
One easy tip is that Angle shooter bounces forward at standing height when you throw it at the ground (unless you're throwing it straight down), so in situations that don't require precision or take place on even terrain, you don't have to think about the vertical aspect
i have a almost pure sub power-up build for the splattershot nova and tenta brella, and while maybe it's not the best idea, flying through the sky at mach 10 and marking my enemies for ages form all the way across the stage is great and hilarious, also, with tenta brella and beakons, i have seen people place a beakon below a platform, superjump to it, and then blast who-ever is above, it's amazing!

I started splatoon recently, and I'm hard maining the dualie class. I've only got the stock and the squelcher dualies, but I'm thinking of getting all the stickers for all of them. I used to think that I would prefer the squelchers because of their extra range, which is definitely nice, but I then discovered the turret mode and that I get a lot of success by rolling and then focusing on hitting my shots as opposed to moving, so I'm thinking I'll end up really liking the dapple dualies. As for the Glooga dualies, I don't think I'll be very good, I've got terrible aim, and although only hitting two shots is a big selling point, low fire rate would force me to start aiming properly. Any tips for me in the future?
@@TheRealBlazingDiamond I’m not sure if you’re asking me or not, but I’ll give you advice anyway. What you want is to be comfortable with your roll distance and range in turret mode. That helps with being able to roll into the best position to take out you enemies. You’ll want to abuse your range as much as you can. Other than that, use your wall, squid roll for mobility, and don’t EVER wear Run Speed Up.

Late edition to this but: the sprinkler has a pretty generous hit box, so a trick I’ve learned is to drop it on my feet before a 1v1 and dance around the sprinkler to use it as a shield. The chip damage will help too.

1 sub of sub power up on splash wall brings the hp from 800 to 867, almost a 10% increase and a main from 800 to over 1000, a 25% increase
(this does not effect the duration)
I already knew the tek with splat bombs but you surprised me with the other utility tips and it has been coming in handy (the reason I knew the stuff for splat bomb was because in Splatoon 2 I mostly used hero shot replica)

Great video! Helpful stuff both for beginners and more experienced players. One thing I feel should be mentioned though is how toxic mist can be almost entirely avoided by using a squid roll, so while it does help against ninja squid and flanks trying to be sneaky, the slowing and ink draining effects are limited in places like choke points because of the new movement mechanic; It's a minor annoyance rather than complete area denial.

My personal fav sub is splat bombs the quick blast can easily catch even the best off guard.
I find curling bomb can be useful as a distraction or feint, people expect you to swim in it or at least follow up and either way its a swimmable path of enemy ink so someone will probably check it out, while you're going in the opposite direction or flanking them, also i sometimes throw it around one side of a bit of cover and move around the other side, idk if this is useful at all but it does mean some ink is going on either side of anyone on the other side, ive gotten into a habit of throwing it down paths im not taking just to get ink there maybe someone would use. Just dont get too in your head about it and start waiting around to trick someone when you could be applying pressure cause its probably not really doing much.

Wonderfully helpful! Thank you for the summary and Naruto format stats. Just started enjoying subs like point sensor and angle shooter, getting the team onboard with your plan. Made a lovely Hail Mary splat with the angle shooter from halfway across the map and the 1->2 punch of the Slosher Deco then bomb feels gratifying since it is a third of the speed to toss out the angle bomb vs resloshing. Interesting that they made a kit with medium, low 75% or insane range 25%
Sprinkler getting Special charged speed is amazing. Combed with Sub ink saver, Special charge and Reduce Special death penalty, one can get continuous rain on bloblobber from chucking out well-placed sprinklers. It's a squid fishing net casting mini-game of maxing coverage and keeping an eye on the special gauge to see how quickly the gauge is slowing down. Then check the map for empty or need territory, look at the surroundings and recast the Squiding net. Also useful AoE chip paired with inkstorm and flying blob lobs.

Thank you! I recently got the Z+F charger and had a brainfart trying to figure out the Splashwall.
The two things I really want Angle Shooter to have changed are:
1) Aim at my darn primary weapon reticle instead of slightly below it. It currently aims a bit below with the offset increasing the more upward you're looking. It makes it stupidly difficult to quickly tag someone, especially if they're slightly above you on a ledge.
2) I wish the line would linger a bit longer, around how long Toxic Mist lasts, even if it means having to up the ink cost a bit.
What you want is a contradiction of 3D space. I know that sounds weird, but the reticle you're shown on screen is actually manually calculated to show where the shots your main weapon are going to go based on the effective range and shot velocity of each main weapon. It's physically impossible for the angle shooter to match the reticle of every weapon because of the massive range that you could be aiming towards

I’ve never seen such aggressive splash wall gameplay and that looks really satisfying and also extremely obnoxious 😂
One thing I like about Sprinkler and Squid Beacons that wasnt mentioned in this vid is that it can act like a frail shield. The amount of damage it can block is fairly weak, but its just enough to win a 1v1. Its no splash wall, but any bit of cover helps
Fizzy is my personal favorite. Its unpredictability makes for great surprise attacks, and its turfing capabilities pair nicely with weapons like the Sloshing Machine and, my main, Aerospray MG (i know, sharpen your knives and pitchforks).
On sprinkler, it is one of the most fun sub weapons in regards of placement, you learn so much about the various maps by figuring out sprinkler placements. I was an N-Zap 89 main, in the first game, I wasn't on board exactly with using missiles so I used the 85 among other weapons in the second. The 89 in the first game had sprinkler as a sub & it was so much better in 1, I remember being in one part of the map just inking & then getting the notification that I splatted someone I was nowhere near, as it turns out, my sprinkler did it for me. Given it also had ink strike, it was great for getting enemies from afar. I wish sprinkler was better, it's just underwhelming now. It's helped me out, I found that I like Bloblobber a lot & the sprinkler has come in handy for that but it will never be what it use to which sucks. One of my favorite subs from the first got nerfed & my other favorite sub, the Seeker, is completely gone.
On curling bomb: he doesn't show it in the video, but for ledges that are right about player high (and just a smidge taller), splat roller's vertical flick is actually perfect for hitting people from under ledges. It takes a bit of practice, but you can reliably one shot with this (carbon has the same arc but doesn't one hit unless you hit them directly with the roller). So the fact that you are under the ledge in le hypothetical scenario isn't so bad, and against some weapons which aren't very good at hitting directly under ledges is actually a big advantage
For mist : you can squid roll in it to not lose speed
splash wall :
1 : you can place it on tower by either make it bounce of a wall to make it land on the tower you're standing on or jumping of the tower and throwing it when you're at the level of the tower (requieres a bit of practice but is actually very useful)
2 : making it bounce of walls is very useful to make it pop where you're standing. This is particularly useful when an opponent surprises you and even more when you're in a corner, since it will protect you from any side.

It might be just a speculation, but a hypothesis of mine based on my experience is that enemy Beakons blink when an enemy jumps into them, so if it gets to be proven right, it can be pretty helpful to consider enemy positioning and its prediction while thinking on a strategy in the middle of the match

12:35 It's understandable and makes sense but I've gotten many well timed kills when placing an auto bomb where an opponent lands. Yes, it's not as reliable if an enemy is near by but it's still a safe option if done well.
CORRECTION GOR ANGLE SHOOTERS: you absolutely SHOULD bounce your shots to hit enemies, specifically at the ground. The angle shooter will skip across the ground which allows you to only have to aim left and right and can get you combos easier. It works especially well thrown into downward ramps leading into valleys and lower areas. This techniqe doesn't work well on low ground however, which is why angle shooter works especially well on the slosher deco, because the main weapon can hit on top of ledges.
Sub power up also very slightly increases the range
Finally, someone who acknowledges Ink Mines as being a tactical, utility-oriented sub, instead of just treating them like a terrible bomb.
My personal favorite kit with them is undercover brella. Pair it up with a ninja squid main, play your cards right, and you've got one hell of an ambush fighter.
[Edit Addition] You describe ink mines as being great on chargers, yet funnily enough in my experience they've also worked decently well AGAINST chargers.
Specifically as a way to cut off common perches; you place one there, and no matter what the charger does it's generally a bad idea for them to use that perch for a while.
I didn't need to watch this as I knew everything already but enjoyed it nonetheless 👍

omg i want that badge. As a fellow Ultra Stamp main for about 3 years, i can confirm it is the coolest special of all specials, just neglected by nintendo. It can literally out damage an entire team shooting at the rainmaker shield.

The funny thing of Angle shooter is making your kill time quicker if you get accurate with 'em. I've used it with Deco Slosher and it makes 2 hits a one hit after a direct.

while auto bombs are usually to inconvient they do act like normal suction bombs if nothing is in range (you can use this to stop a rushing player but dont expect this to work all the time)
I've used curling bomb as a diversion to make the enemy think I'm going one way when I'm not. Really only works with Ninja Squid though.
another thing about point sensors is to use them if ur about to be splatted to let ur teammates know where the enemy is

Sprinkler is just such a silly sub. Did you know you can shoot through a friendly sprinkler? In a way, it can be used as a small 100hp shield! When the snipewriter first came out I abused the crap outta that to one- up any enemy writers. People also LOVE to shoot a sprinkler ASAP, which makes for easy sharking bait.

Splatbombs are kinda an uno reverse card if Players use splashwall or big bubbler due to trowing the bomb on them inst-activates it Handy for ppl who go Infront of ther Wall or out of the bubbler (you could do it to the Inside of the bubbler too)
The Angle Shooter's name is horrendous for its usage. It just makes it sound like a bouncy secondary gun. Due to its primary use serving as a mark tripwire of sorts, I think something like Sensor Wire would be better as it plants the use as a tripwire in your mind, as well as the similarities to the point sensor.
