11:42 Aaron going "that'd be crazy" with that intense look into the camera. control yourself dude :D
hahaha i thought exact same
Torchwood is an anagram for Doctor Who btw
Omar Issa wtf how did I not know this
Zak R Yeah back when the BBC rebooted DW, they hid all their project work behind titles called “Torchwood”. And I guess they just liked the name and used it in the show.
@@CharizarzarIt is a really good name for a secret organization.
Rose: "This is the story of how I died..."
*Cut to Nightwing on the beach doing chest compressions.*
Looking forward to Young Justice season 3!!
I WAS NOT READY FOR THIS. I'M DYING!
Jackie: If we ended up on Mars, I'm gonna kill you
Calvin: What's wrong with Mars
The Waters of Mars: Hold my water
Btw, the woman in the pub is Barbara Windsor who plays Peggy Mitchell in the British soap Eastenders, one of the main soap's in the UK
Does anyone still watch that?
ain't got nothing on Emmerdale and Coronation Street 😏
PCGaming doesn't matter which is better, even though it is clearly Emmerdale (minus the cancer that is Robron) as long as we can all agree that they're all better than Hollyoaks
everthing is better than hollyoaks
I prefer Eastenders cause it deals with darker, more realistic situations than anything the ITV Soaps do. Plus I think the acting's far better in Eastenders.
Allons-y is "Let's go!" in French. The doctor has a hankering to say "Allons-y Alonso!" cause that'd be hella fun.
And Allons-y in considered to be the catchphrase of the Tenth Doctor......"Well"
can't forget "i'm sorry. i'm so, so sorry"
"it a two parter" I laughed so hard at that.
OH FUCK IS IT?
11:40 Is it just me or did Aaron just gave us THE look?
He did, and it was FANTASTIC! Shades of Eric & Calvin reacting to Game of Thrones.
LOL at Aarons face at 11:41 Only 4.5 more seasons till that payoff conversation
just a typical Dr Who meta reference lol
lmaooo
Watch me prankcall PewDiePie

“What’s wrong with mars?” *looks at the “Water of Mars” episode and the Ice Warriors episodes*...I’m sure it’s fine lol jk
Calvin's right. The pub scene is supposed to be from Britain's most famous soap opera, EastEnders. The Queen Victoria (The "Queen Vic") is kind of the central setting for a lot of the show, and Peggy (the character in that scene) ran the pub for about 20 years or so.
Oh boy, next episode is going to be a killer. Though...well, I'd say bring the tissues, but I have a feeling they'll be joking around not even looking at the screen while the quieter, sadder scenes are going on, so maybe not.
Also 'Dirty Den' was the original landlord when Eastenders began back in 1985. This also wasn't the first crossover between the two shows - In 1993 there was a 2 part crossover called 'Dimensions in Time' done for Dr Who's 30th anniversary and the charity Children in Need. It featured Doctors 3 through 7 and also many former companions and most of the then Eastenders cast. This special was shown in 3d using special glasses.
Additionally earlier in this season "The Impossible Planet", the location in which Eastenders is set got a name check when Ida Scott said, “There's no turning back,” David Tennant’s Tenth Doctor retorted: “Oh, did you have to? No turning back? That's almost as bad as nothing can possible go wrong, or this is going to be the best Christmas Walford's ever had.”
Any episode with Billie Piper requires tissues, AMIRITE?!? (Goes for high five... nothing happens... ice ages pass... a lone tumbleweed...) I'll get my coat.
It is more than that. That pub in that show is a real one that Queen Victoria personally opened.
@@shauntempley9757 no it isn't. It's a set. Specifically built for the programme
@@erosion271 It actually is a real pub, that just so happens to be owned by the same family that originally opened it, and is leased by the BBC for use on Eastenders.
The bust they show is also a real bust donated by the Queen herself.
Martha: I had a cousin. She never came home.
Doctor: I was there. I techincally killed her... Sorry.
Oh sh*t!
"if it was a beautiful girl and then she was like 'Exterminate!'"
"and her face goes flat and then it (dalek point) just comes out of her head"
I am not a dalek.
I am human.
eggs eggs eggs eggs eggs eggs
"that would be crazy" :D
Shhhhhhhhhh.
Until Series 7.
Well is all the plumbing there? If so he I think I could power through.
Maybe I'm a bit slow but I just thought that perhaps the reason why Rose's mum thinks it's her grandad is because it actually is, perhaps in Pete's world her grandad like her actually got converted into cybermen...
Eric: CY...BER...MEN
Doctor: Cybermen
The pub scene is something every British person will recognise even if you don't watch the show, it's from a soap opera we have here called Eastenders. the character is called Peggy and she owned the pub and "get outa' my pub' was kind of her catch phrase. The actress who played her is a house hold name here she's called Barbara Windsor, she was in most of the Carry on films if you've seen those and she's also the voice of the dormouse in the 2010 and 2016 Alice in Wonderland movies which you might of seen and was in films like Chitty Chitty Bang Bang. She's an amazing comic actress and really famous in Britain.
Bro in the TARDIS shirt is smart! Barbara Windsor is a British icon. She was in the Carry On films back in the day and later became a staple in the biggest UK soap, Eastenders.
4:40 "I fuckin hate aliens man"
That just sounded so genuine and it threw me off guard. So funny
I like that Eric slowly looks at the screen from his paper when Rose said "...and this is how I died." lol.
Love that, followed swiftly by huh? HUH!?
"I wonder if that's someone we should know. If we lived in the UK."
Yes, that's Peggy fucking Mitchell. From the long running british soap Eastenders. Played by Barbara Windsor, of Carry On fame.
Barbara Windsor is a legend of British acting :) she was also known for the carry on films :)
RIP ):
Now that's a cliffhanger.
Eric and Shane's reactions in this episode were amazing, and Calvin and Aaron's glee at their "WTF" faces were also great to see. Especially Mickey being back and the Daleks in the sphere (and on the table! Very sneaky).
I'm not the biggest fan of the cybermen, so when I first watched this I was a bit like Shane (them again?), even if I spent most of the time panicking about the Rose thing. But I will say, these two episodes makes them work well.
Something I do enjoy in this episode is Jackie. I don't really agree with the guys in that what she said didn't make sense or that it was selfish. She wasn't just talking about changing overall as a person, but that Rose not having her mother to come back to would lose her connection to Earth and to humanity, and if Rose would really still hold on to any of that. She was worried that Rose would lose touch with where she came from or who she was, which I think is a valid concern to have as a mother, even if I don't quite agree with her.
Also, Aaron. I want to let you know that I noticed you doing the THING in the discussion, and I loved it and replayed it and giggled, like, four times. That was great. And please keep sneaking in spoilery pops all over the place. It's really funny once the penny drops.
This is another one of those reactions when I really wished I had a TARDIS, so I could just skip ahead to next week. Oh well. We just have to wait. Allons-y!
What thing Aaron is doing that you are talking about? I must have missed it.
I didn't want to point it out while we were still at patreon comments, in case Eric and Shane accidentally stumbled upon it. But there's a moment during the discussion about Daleks that Aaron very pointedly looks at the camera, hinting at something to come. :)
Oh that. I noticed it.
"What a beautiful sound" check out the bbc radiophonic workshop. Charged with creating the sound effects of Doctor who over 50 years ago. The Tardis sound was a key being scraped on a piano string and wound backwards and forwards at through the tape machine. But while your there, watch any stuff about Delia Derbyshire the girl who made the doctor who theme, and how she made. There had Never been anything like it, and she basically she invented electronic sampling and composition.
When I watched this for the first time as a kid the ending blew my mind. At the time, the Cybermen were still new to me but I thought they were awesome and suddenly the Daleks show up. I remember running around the house cheering.
I was terrified but super excited like there's about to be a faceoff! cybermen vs. daleks
The woman on the TV is Barbara Windsor playing Peggie Mitchell from BBC Soap Opera Eastenders... but you guys might know her as the woman whose bra flies off in Carry On Camping
"Is there a creature masquerading? Or is it...it could just be a ghost."
That made me chuckle. 🤣
RIP Barbra Windsor
IT"S MARTHA'S COUSIN
As a Brit it’s so weird and surreal seeing the crew reacting to Peggy Mitchell
17:27 dang Calvin can really do voices!
Torchwood was an anagram for doctor Who so no one knew that they were bringing back the show, then they decided to do this with it and its great
Hands down my favourite Dr Who Cliffhanger ever. The music and set-up was brilliant.
Wait! The Doctor never said "Allonz-y" prior to this episode?!
Nope. This was the first time.
Wow! Doesn't feel like it when I thought back!
Allons-y* :P
He said it in the "Born Again" minisode.
Ugh. I can't imagine how hard it is for Calvin and Aaron while all of these references show up like Martha's cousin, allons y, Alonso and soooo much more.
Yep, the pub scene was set in "Eastenders" - one of the UK's most popular soap operas. The 'ghost' was Den Watts, a previous landlord of the pub, who had been murdered by his wife, Chrissie - a character played by the actress who played Yvonne Hartman, the head of Torchwood in this story - I wonder if the connection was deliberate?
In the next episode there will be a (no spoilers) scene with two groups of people talking trough a monitor and I would request if you dont cut that part because its to funny
"The bitch fight of Canary Wharf"
I wish that scene had been cut from the entire episode tbh.
balrog0444 it'd be funny if they watched the episode and that was edited in
Can't wait for the next part especially the sad bit, wanna see how they react
I looooove Army of Ghosts/Doomsday. What a great finale.
7:00 The novel Excession by Ian. M. Banks had exactly the same thing, but moon-sized.
yessss. one of the best finales. next episode, a sick Dalek burn XD
“Allons-y” is the Tenth Doctor's catchphrases, like "Fantastic". Every Doctors has one.
only 9, 10 and 11 did none of the others have
TheTrainFan44 I mean the new generation of Doctors
12th Doctor did not have one
TheTrainFan44 Clara!
Someone else may have already made this comment, but there are already cybermen in our universe. They have a very different origin than the ones from the other world.
Torchwood... what a stupid name
Lord Omega I think you missed the joke
Lord Omega Pretty sure he knows that...
I can never get used to seeing reactors reacting to other reactors.
That being said, you are one of my favorites.
The Approaching Storm... now that's something.
Hey Alex.
The lady in the pub is from a soap opera called EastEnders. Additionally her name is Barbara Windsor and she was also in he old carry on films
That moment when the pop up ad covers the video section!
11:41 that would be crazy wouldn’t it 🤔 lol I can’t wait to see Eric’s reaction when he finds out he called it
Technically most people don't change, they grow... there's a subtle different. The same core nature & instincts, informs & guide your decision even as your world view changes & expand with time. To change your core nature & instinct usually requires a lot of work that most people don't even actively do. The Doctor chooses his companions generally because there's already something there.
Yeh I don’t understand how they didn’t get that being with the Doctor is clearly changing her and warping the old CHAV rose into something her mum doesn’t know
The bartender was from _EastEnders_ , a long-running British TV Soap. It also crossed over with _Doctor Who_ once for _Who_ 's 30th Anniversary.
Yes, "Allons-y!" is French for "Let's go!", and apparently the Tenth Doctor thinks it would be *hilarious* if he could say it to someone named Alonso. I mean, can you blame him? Puns are great. Don't think that will go anywhere, though.... :D
JUST CAME BACK FROM SCHOOL & THIS WAS UPLOADED 14 MINUTES AGO! Yay...
I missed Martha Jones the first time I watched this episode.
Aaron and Eric. Our superhero shows are back and I need your discussions. I also recommend The Gifted. You guys liked Legion, for more Uncanny X-men goodness, check it out.
The best conversation ever is coming next episode.
Get ready for tears in the next episode.
Rewatching this, I only now noticed Aaron's reference to season 7 Daleks.
This marks the first time ever in all of Doctor Who that the Daleks and the Cybermen have officially met each other.
Which is quite the thing for fans.
Shame they aren’t true Cybermen
"That guy" is Hadley Fraser and it always cracks me up to see him in Doctor Who after watching him in the 25th Anniversary concerts of Les Miserable and Phantom of the Opera. I always want him to break into song now. He's amazing.
tierneybeckett OMG I didn’t realise
I wonder if he’s seen Talons of Weng Chaig
Allons-y is french for vamonos LOL
wrong episode number in title
Edit: it was fixed thanks based Rhop
Look at your pad of paper. Each piece of paper is a dimension. The void is the space in between the pages.
That tv show set in a pub is a soap opera called eastenders
Also I can't wait for their reaction to the end of Gridlock :D
I have waited this a long time!
Great video keep going your Great
+Blind Wave
25 or 30 year old Soap TV series called Eastenders here shown on BBC1 in the UK. I think American is doing re-runs of the soap. The Pub Lady dear old Miss Peggy Mitchell was one of the long running characters who finally was killed off I think a few years back. You're not missing much lol.
The program on the TV was Eastenders, a Soap Opera set in the East End of London. That character is famous for shouting at people and telling them to " get out my pub". I think that is right. Personally I hate Eastenders but it is hard to avoid on regular TV.
14:32 I wondered if you lot was going to pick up on the EastEnders scene 😂 It's a soap opera here 😅
Too late to comment, I guess, the BBC had a Blue Peter garden. 1430 remark by Calvin.
Can't wait for the next part!
Season finale? Beach scene? Pleeease, I'm most excited about the upcoming banter duel!
Aaron your flat joke though 😂😂
A++
Eric at 3:07 😅 He doesn't realize that that is Freema Aygemen
Alonsy means "lers go" in French. It's now his catchprase.
And so next episode we get the answer to one of the most ancient Whovian questions...
damn, now i have to wait a week for the next episode...... i cant wait...
"allons-y" means "let's go" in French, just fwi :)
“Rose joins that army cause she DIES- *gasp* play place....” eric ffs you’re killing me
A nice way to start the constants of the Doctor Who villains in the set universe! Tho it is the beginning of the end, in a sense
Oo I do love that eastenders refernece “get out of my pub”
Just wait until the next episode!
fun fact this is the first episode in all of doctor who history to have both the daleks and cyber men in it. they have never actually met before.
well its the first ep where they meet but not the first time they are in together
They were both in the 5 Doctors
'BBC Land', apparently there were plans to have a BBC Theme Park in conjunction with Paramount built on the outskirts of London but plans fell through this year due to planning logistics. They're now looking for a better area and aiming for a 2022 opening.
Now it's cancelled due to some sort of spider from what I heard.
Quick question, should I watch the new Star Wars trailer or not?
OMG I can not wait to NEXT week!!!!
Got to meet the char that plays Jackie... so sweet.
Next episode, it all ends. The finally we get to series three, where Tennent really gets better!
Doctor Who in the UK has a cache where other shows and celebrities will agree to appear, even if not part of the BBC.
Well they will appear just so they can be in a Dr Who episode
Next episode is one of the saddest and one of my favorites
Ahh Yes! The first appearance of best Dalek
Yay Dalek Secs first appearance, my favourite Dalek
"Why the fuck are these motherfuckers back? I want someone new."
^ This is literally the essence of Doctor Who
If Rose is gone for a few years but only a few days pass before the Doctor returns her, she could end up being older than her mother at some point.
1. There are three branches: Torchwood; Torchwood Institute; and UNIT.
2. This arc is in three parts: this episode; the next episode; and unfortunately, the christmas special.
3. The woman hacker/honey-trap turned by the Cybermen is supposed to be the cousin of someone you will meet next season. (Identified now to clear up any future confusion as to why is she looks identical or whether she is/was the same person).
UNIT is NOTHING to do with Torchwood
Also you forgot Department C4 (or commonly called The Forge)
Also the 3 parter isn’t until next series
Also it was explain why they look in same years before in Zagreus
There are members of UNIt in Torchwood (eg. Martha Smith Jones).
There is a cliffhanger at the end of the next episode; therefore, the christmas special becomes the third part.
There is a 100% probability that none of these guys (nor myself) are going to ever read Zagreus. Why would we, since the explanation is given by the character in her "first" appearing episode. That IS when they will found out; just like the normal part of world discovers the same THING. My hope was too avoid the "Isn't that the same girl from ..." or "did the Dr. just time travel to early time when she was alive" line of questions that I predict may be stated with a 25% probability.
11:30 holy shit they just hinted at Clara without even knowing!
'it's a two parter' no shit! 😁
Hahaha Aaron at 11:40 "That'd be... crazy." >_>
Next ep, She's coming!!
Shane: "I fucking hate aliens, man"
WHILE WATCHING DOCTOR WHO!
Are you going to be watching Torchwood? It coincides with Series 3
All aboard the feel train in the next part.
Still one of the best Doctor Who two parts ever committed to the small screen.
I wouldn’t say it’s as epic as others
Know I would say it really doesn’t feel like a finale and that’s a big shock
Martha incoming ..
uh oh
quiet rogue Think they just meant season 3 is coming up soon.
Thats not the same character, quiet rogue.
quiet rogue errrrr no they are two different people and that’s kinda racist
"Oh hey, you look EXACTLY like a medical student I'm going to meet in a couple of weeks. Any relation? Sorry about you're death, by the way. Here let me help you finish that..."
Anyone born in britain knows Peggy Mitchell
Next stop Doomsday, the "death" of Rose Tyler
14:00-14:30 Is that a tardis journal?
