Yeah well with age he had to. CR7 changed his game from a super athletich physical freak to a super high IQ, insane positioned, deadly finisher that's what great players do they adjust
Basketball Historian IMO...CR7 mellowed down his prowess and abilities as years rolled by...From 2008 - 2012 was his best years imo...individually...after 2012, he became more of a goal poacher than anything else...he is consistent in his finishing but in terms of dribbling, passing, freekicks etc he has downgraded..
Messi on the other hand yes his dribbling and finishing isn’t as godly as 2009-2013 seasons but he still drops players at age 32, he still scores 50+ goals per season...and not to mention creates plenty of chances for his teammates to score as a playmaker should

Its the least u can do as a goal scorer. Nothing to really praise on another level, its a basic. While on the goal scoring topic, ronaldo is not as efficient- being a goal scorer. Messi obviously as a playmaker has to do with what he gets, and guess what he does. So when it comes to goal scoring messi is better because he comes as a playmaker and becomes a majestic beast of a goal scorer. Imagine being the best playmaker in the world and then topping it off as the best goal scorer. He's undoubtedly the best.
In my eyes he is the greatest. Despite all the records, goals and achievements I feel the most joy, by just watching him play on the field.
Without a goal or an assist, he baffles me everytime.

The things he does during a game still baffles me to THIS DAY over 13 years later! Everytime I watch him is a beautiful day for me. Messi is the GOAT. Period! Idk why ppl still argue that after he proves it every single year. Messi is the only player ever to win a personal accolades every single year of his professional career. The thing with Messi is: He has around 5 off games during a season in which he is a normal player. The other around 55 games he has between 1 and 4 scenes in which he wowes you if you are watching. Today his 3 goals against Mallorca for example.

Also, players at that time could break your leg and get away with it which is why maradona was so great.

Also, you must consider how players were tackled. A red card challenge from a defender now would be seen as 'a talking to' from the ref. This gives defenders a huge advantage even if they are average. Maradona had to be a tough player as he played in a tough era. Messi doesnt need to be tough as he is playing in a fragile era.
All most everytimes he touched the ball you can easily see the quality he has, you not gonna see another player to do that at same scale.

Maradona faced defender with mindset to crush you not to beat you. Today you can get yellow for small touch. We have to be objective that's why never compare an era, they both have that talent. Stats don't tell the whole story. Ronaldo R9 won 2 world cups but it doesn't tell you that he is not playing in 94 world cup. Pele won 3 world cups but he didn't even play that much in 62 world cup

I don't remember what I was doing 15 years ago, but I will NEVER forget the one time I got to see Messi play. Scored a hat-trick including one of his best ever as the winning goal to beat Brazil 4-3. He scored the winning goal right in front of me, I had a perfect view. The moment he touched the ball, you could sense something special was coming.
