- Installed the left and right window trim on a 2010 Honda Civic. It was pretty easy. Couldn’t find any videos online so I winged it and a video. Comment any questions you might have. I’ll try to reply as soon as possible.

Which is the passenger side and which is the driver side?
Nice video, I was able to follow the steps to replace both the left and right Drip Edge Molding parts. Here the parts were about $115 each from the Honda dealer, and the clips were about $3 to $5 depending on the type.
The box that each molding comes in is 8 feet long, about 18 inches wide and 4 inches deep, about the size of a surf board. By folding down the rear seats and moving the passenger seat all the way forward and reclining it I was able to take one box home in my Civic per trip from the dealer.
The yellow and blue clips, underneath the floppy rubber bit, can be more easily removed by using a small flat head screwdriver to release the tab through the slots on the white clips that are attached to the body. The clips are fragile, so be careful.
The section that runs along the roof can be most easily removed by tilting the drip edge molding towards the center of the roof. Again, remove the parts slowly and carefully to avoid breakage.
My advise, pick up some extra yellow clips. Depending amount of deterioration you may find that some of the clips are damaged, also they break fairly easily. I also discovered that one on the white clips along the windshield had only half the plastic remaining and I had to run over to the dealer to pick up a new one before proceeding.
The entire process took about 35 to 45 minutes per side. It was fairly easy to do. I can't believe that Honda wanted about $200 in labor for each side to do this relatively easy fix.
Thanks for the video, great job!
Thank you for taking the time to help us all out. You would make a great neighbor 😁
Thank you for making this video so clearly and not over explained. Keep doing more videos 👍🏽
Dealer wanted $450 for parts, labor, and install. rip-off!
Awesome vid, thank you!
This is why the internet is awesome. Thank you for posting with part numbers!!!
Thank you for making this. Helped me switch these out in 30 minutes!
Thanks guys. That was helpful to see it done. I’ll be doing mine this weekend.
I really appreciate you doing this video. I couldn't find much info on how to get new ones. Going to order these for my Civic ASAP. Thanks yo!
@migs - Extremely appreciative of this walkthrough! Replacing these on my '07. The black covering on the moulding had started to separate along with the little skirt between the moulding and the windshield.
Excellent Video. I followed these simple steps and completed the job in about 40 mins. (I could do it in half the time if I had to do it again). Parts were $92 each at my local Honda dealer. Called first to make sure they were in stock. Part numbers for 2008 4 Door Civic were: 73158-SNA-013 and 73168-SNA- 013. Left and Right.
When buying 73158-SNA-013 and 73168-SNA- 013, do they come along with complete small parts of yellow clips?
@@daniloyap4710 I don't think..
I see www.hondapartsstoreonline.com/v-2008-honda-civic-sedan--ex--5-speed-automatic/interior-bumper--molding Clip A, B, C and "Clip, Root Molding" are needed in case they are broken when removing the moulding strips. Refer pictures for each item.
Thats a fair price for each piece... i having a problem looking that up online and it says there almost up to 250 for both left and right..
You have right and left part numbers mixed up. 75168 is left, (divers) side from what I am finding.
They were 130 at my nearest stealership now :(
Thank you for sharing this. It is exactly what I needed to know. The car wash blew out both sides on my 2010!
Just replaced the same trim on my 2011 Civic, thanks for your time and effort sir to post this video. God bless!
Thank You for the awesome video and giving me the part numbers i needed. I could not tell what was needed by the diagrams I looked at. Call Honda and the had the right side in stock, 150 bucks in California. Returned home and installed in less than 15 mins. Once again Thank You...
Thank you so much for this helpful video! Saved a lot of money doing it at home instead of through the dealer. Thanks!
Migs714, I really appreciate you taking the extra effort to record the awesome and succinct tutorial - good looking-out, wingman. I've got a 2011 Civic; parts look the same; now searching for parts.
Himynameismatt Itsnicetomeetyou same! What’s weird is that I actually went to my Honda dealer to ask what this was they said I had to get my whole windshield replaced... so I said I’ll wait and now I’m doing my research and wow I can’t believe how wrong they were maybe they wanted more money from me but now I feel like I cannot trust them anymore
Should definitely be a recall for these all my molding is gone also.
Same
Mine too 😕
khelix23 Same! :/
Mine as well. Any harm done by not replacing these?
@@jabbajawz yes it starts leaking inside driver side usually
Thank you for the video. I didn't know what to call that trimming. Regardless of word play you'd think it would still pop up when I searched for it. Wrong. You're much appreciated!
Thank you for the video really helped out a lot. Been meaning to do this project for a few years now and wasnt sure how to. Thanks!
Thanks for the video!! Here’s another PRO-tip when removing the old molding! 👉 you can avoid breaking a clip by pushing on the yellow tab you can see through the window of the white clip, as you pull it upwards.. I used my pocket knife to press the yellow clip in a bit, which helped me get it out smoothly... I learned this after breaking one of the white clips on the first side
Appreciate the heads up, and sad to know you had to learn it the hard way
Thank you so much! Love the video! The dealing in San Diego wanted to charge me $106.12 parts, per side, plus $120 per side installation. Dealers are Robbers for sure!
Omg!!! That is outrageous.
Thank you the best video I’ve seen so far, to fix this problem
Thank you for putting this video together. It put my mind at easy to know how the thing was held together. I just replaced my left and right molding for the cost of the parts, which wasn't cheap. This part was so poorly designed. Honda should have realized how stupid the design was when they had to put the part in 7 foot long boxes. Thanks again.
Thanks for the video. Got the parts from eBay ($200) and did in one hour while following your video.
Thanks for the video. Extremely helpful. After reading the comments I agree, Honda charges way too much for the aesthetic parts.
I'm adding another "thumbs up" for the OP's creation of this video. Like others, I needed to replace one (driver's) and the other was showing serious signs of deterioration as well. (vehicle is 10 years old, though.) The dealer's price for labor/installation was insane. Labor at home took about 40 minutes, and saved about 200 bucks.
Note: For those considering a do-it-yourself option.. the installation isn't bad. However, where you order the parts from will make a difference. True, dealership pricing isn't cheap. However, if you order online, note that not only are you paying shipping, the cost will be far more than usual as the parts come in boxes that are about 7 feet in length. Therefore, (as I understand it) they can't be shipped through regular protocols are are considered "Freight", adding even more to the shipping costs.
Go ahead and buy the parts at the dealer. Handle the installation on your own.
Oh.. go ahead and purchase at least replacement yellow clips. The ones in place may have deteriorated and could break off when removing the older parts. It's far better to pay the extra and have the clips available, than to risk breaking one, and have to make a second trip for parts.
This video is a big help!! Thanks bro.
Hell yea!! Nice video cause I’ve been wanting to replace mine. THANK YOU!!
Love the track in the background!
I just replaced mine without any issues. Thanks a lot for the detailed instructions. As a hint, rather than pulling the old trim directly from hand, just use a flat-head screwdriver to gently push the clip fastners. This way you can ensure all clips are secured for reuse in the new trim.
Gihan Timantha where’d you get them? Link?
@@jacklesko9917 I got them through Dealership. Available online at cheaper price but shipping is too expensive.
How much? Cheapest I can find is 200 :(
@@jacklesko9917 Should be around that. You have to buy the OEM, there are no aftermarket parts for this.
Just replaced mine right now and this video was very helpful since I should’ve done it 5 years ago.😂
Thank you for that excellent video on the install !
Thanks the part numbers were super helpful
Thanks for the video greatly appreciated. Now I need to call the Honda dealership and have them ship me the drip edge moldings.
Mine are missing as well on my 2010 Civic ! I feel it should have been a recall for all 2010 Honda Civic for this issue !
Recalls for vehicles happen when there is a consistent safety issue which would cause serious injury or loss of life. The windshield trim doesn't cause a safety issue.
Squee6669 Not true! I’ve had my Civic since 2010 brand new . I had fading paint on the hood of my car . They sent me a recall paper in the mail for the paint issue . They repaired it for free ! And paint is definitely not a safety hazard and it was a recall on mine ! Only speaking from experience
@@cynthiaalzora5940 Seriously? Well I definitely got screwed over on the paint job then. My Civics paint looks awful and Honda wouldn't do anything about it.
Squee6669 That’s ridiculous!!! They were supposed to repair it for free ! I hate that , that happened to you .
awesome video. just what I needed.
Great install video!👌👍
This helped a lot. Thanks for sharing
thank you, just did a 2008 and it was easy, thanks to YOU
davidedgerton1 - Did you have to insert a tool (narrow tip screwdriver, plastic pry tool, etc.) to release the 4 side clips from the 4 white clip retainers that reside along the sides of the windshield?
Also, did you have to pry up the lower corner cover at the bottom corners of windshield in order to remove and replace the very bottom of the trim pieces that slide under?
Thank you! My Honda's trim is basically gone now and I need to replace it.
Thx for posting the part # the video also helped with removal/installation
exactly what I needed thank you!
Thank you for posting!
Thank you for the part numbers.
Thanks for the video, great job!
Very good instructions…Thanks
Exactly what i needed. Thanks.
Excellent!!!! That trim is Now $123 at the local Honda dealer and Online $71 but they want to gouge you for $200 Shipping!!! Thanks, that's simple!!!
Zolitar Iglussey hey where did you find this online?
Great video, glad I found this. I also have a 2010 Civic and need to replace the same thing, including the window trim on all 4 doors. My local dealer here in Newport News, VA quoted me $1,463.00 for parts and labor for the 4 windows and the windshield trim......yes that's correct, $1,463.00. Parts was about $500 and the rest in labor. Of course I declined.
Perfect video. Part is hard to identify.
White clips exposed on my car as well cause rubber is gone.
Thanks very helpful
Thanks for making this video! Super helpful! 👍🏼
came here to say the same thing.....thanks for showing the part #
I know you put the part numbers up in the video but it would be helpful if you put the part numbers in the description and where you saw them online for $65.
Thanks for sharing now my car won’t sound like m
Going back to the future when I hit 88mphs
What kind of noise does it make? My mom gets a loud rattling noise and her moulding needs replacing.
Very helpful video! I just bought a 2010 8th gen myself and really need to do this for my car. Can someone please send a link to where I can order these drip moldings online? Thank you!
I haven't replaced mine yet but I just got done doing a road trip and the clips are exposed because the rubber flew off. The wind noise was a lot louder so it helps in that area too..., so I need to fix it asap!
***Edit- Replaced the parts. Thank you for the video.
did you get to fix it??
I just fixed it this morning. My fingers turned black because the rubber was really sticky and degraded. The bad part is, my local dealership charged me $277 just for the parts!! I tried to purchase online but shipping is expensive for these and the cost would of exceeded $300.. It hurt my wallet, but I really needed it.
Yeah me too, but the good thing is I looked for " Civic 2010 Parting out" on Craigslist, Facebook market, letgo, and offer up, luckily I found one on craigslist and he sold the pair molding for $60 with clips.
@@peterdaiuto5612just bought a 2009 Civic and both sides are missing and I am having a leak problem when it gets wet. My thought was these missing molding are the problem with the leak am I wrong?
Awesome thanks for the video , i was wondering what it was called
Honda Civic 2016, top molding is coming apart, wondering if I can change that part without disassembling the windshield
Thank you !!!
Hey what are those hole looking things by the windshield I need one like the are big circles by the windshield wipers
Will this parts fit a 2011 Civic LX 4 doors?
Do the lower corner plastic cowlings on the bottom corners of the windshield have to be removed in order to remove or install the bottom end of these moldings underneath the cowlings??
Migs174 Thank you so much for this Awesome video! It helped me gain confidence for diy and I just got it done!
Honda dealer quoted me $493 for parts and extra for labor. I bought my parts online for both left and right trim molding for 225 delivery inclusive and used the existing clips. Honda Civic looks pretty now😁 I broke one clip but the molding seems to be in place.
you're welcome. glad i could help
Mine are gone as well, should’ve been a recall.
What about the rubber seals that go in the sides under the trim?
Question, what it the rubber lining part you installed in the inner part by the front windshield after you installed the drip side part
Does roof molding on Honda Civics help to keep water out of windshield and surrounding area?
I have been looking for these steps and part number for a long time. Thanks a lot for sharing.
Just a query, does this come as one piece with the rubber seal and side plastic cover that closes the gap between the Windshield and the trim?
Rakesh Mahadevan
Did you find the answer to this? ^
Yes, it’s all one single piece that makes up each front-to-rear molding along with the rubber weatherstripping along the windshield glass.
My honda Civic the same problem both side I need buy the same that or just the rubber strip I need to buy to protect the rain
I have the same problem is 2009 honda civic could you tell me what is its name of the parts that you replaced
Where can i order the molding trim from? I can’t find it. That’s how it look on my 2007 Honda Civic LX sedan
Will water get inside if dont replace? Can i put some tape instead lol.
Hello Migs. Thank you for posting the video. Is this necessary to replace or for cosmetic purpose only? My trim's rubber are peeling.
Purely a cosmetic issue
Any alternative fix for a low budget college student? Parts where I live won’t go for less than $150
If you are going to replace this yourself you need to know that simply pulling the trim to unclip doesn't work. You want to use a flathead screwdriver to press the part of the clips that are holding onto the part that's connected to the car. This allows you to remove the trim and reuse the clips. I just replaced mine and broke three clips in the process.
Well done, thanks!
Glad it was helpful!
Where did you get these parts? Everywhere I'm looking is $200+ for both.
Excellent video. Do you know if the same instructions apply to for the 2007 civic? Thanks!
Luis Padron it probably is. I didn’t have any instructions I just started taking it apart.
@@migs714 2006-2011 are same

I put the trim on and new clips. Now the clips rattle at highway speed. I've tried everything and nothing stops it. Any suggestions?
where do you buy? what website I don"t see both side .
Thank you
What will happen if I don't fix this on my car?
Is the left side the passenger side? Thx
Do you know where i can get some ?? New ones ???
Hey man! My trim on the passenger side is starting to crack all over the place. Where did you order the strip? Can you do just passenger or do you have to order both sides?
Pedro Martinez bought the parts at my local Honda dealer. You can buy one side.
I still my 2008 honda civic which runs great. I installed these about 2 years ago. All the civics I see on the street do not have these. The pieces are difficult to find because of the size. I found mine in amazon but you cant find then all the time.
Anthony Filio I don’t see the same one I bought last year. This is something similar
. www.carid.com/2008-honda-civic-si-oem-exterior-body-parts/honda-oe-roof-exterior-trim-2749360649.html?view=037432
Try eBay maybe. Not everyone sells these since it’s a very large piece and fragile.
Anthony Filio no problem, they are just a piece of rubber. It looks better after you install them. Good luck.
Anthony Filio they are hard to find man. Call a dealer to see how much they are. And check Amazon sometimes.
Can't believe Honda Service Department charges $200 to install these moldings. Insane! On a side note the shipping costs are more than the actual moldings. So I guess I will have to buy at the dealer. Unless anyone knows where these can be bought and shipped at a fair price.
You must have been looking from HondaPartsNow. I was going to order new belt moldings for all four of the windows of my civic sedan from there until I saw the shipping. Then I found cheaperhondaparts.com and I only had to pay around $21-$22 for shipping. Good luck!! :)
item no longer for sale :(
Yeah I saw that too. I recommend just taking off the trim from an old Honda at your local junkyard. Or buying a new one from Honda. Luckily I have a friend that works at Honda and gets a discount. So if you have a hook up do that.
@@dauntlessdom5926 thank you
Thanks! Question if anyone sees this: When I search the parts, 73168 says L drip guard, and 58 says R. Does that mean left and right? In the video and in comments below, it seems that is opposite. Is the side based on looking at the windshield or sitting in the car?
Thanks!
I don’t remember but it may be reversed. I’ll have to rewatch.
Online links for parts?? Can't find them online for under $150
Hey my Honda need that part what is it called so I can look it up
This video is so great that I wish you could hear WTF they’re saying
I heard fine with headphones on... but agree, they didn't speak very loud.
Great video. Would you provide the links on where to buy the parts. Thanks.
I just ordered it from ebay. Both sides are for $216.87 plus free shipping.
www.ebay.com/itm/122941360910
Bought clips separately. Will return them if i dont end up using them
I need those same ones of the video for a honda civic EX 2008 can you tell me where to go?
Ronald Morales I bought them at the dealer
So I have a 2008 and the thin piece of rubber that is in there has dried out and came out. Would inhave to replace the entire strip like you did to fix that ? Or can I fill it with some kind of rubber sealing to protect it from rain ?
They recommend replacing the trim BUT if you are tight on money, keeping car short term, then just buy rubber molding on EBay.
Prep the surface : clean thoroughly with degreaser, wipe alcohol wipe so it’s smooth and clean.
Then use the rubber molding with 3M adhesive over existing cracking trim. It’s decent job to cover but not perfect.
My only issue is that the rubber that touches the windshield is loose. The plastic part is okay that runs all the way past the windshield and the hood. Do I need to replace the whole plastic piece with clips or can I just replace the rubber strip that runs the length of the windshield on the side between the plastic and the windshield?
It’s sold as one complete assembly
Can someone please help me install a quarter window from one I broke innato it to get my keys
