I didnt even know that it was possilble to install different radio system into those honda´s panels, the way you work is neat and clean, that´s nice!
Neat and clean! Have you seen the gap above the heater controls?! Dodgey job form a podgey nob.
Yeah you just have to buy another dash assembly for cheap. Honda focuses too much on looks imo
The background music gave me the courage to try it myself, Thank you for your very easygoing video .
Lol
I know, I wish I had this music playing throughout trigonometry class..
Yes, i know, i didnt take trigonometry, but it seemed so fitting to say.
The background music gave me the courage to ask my gf to try anal. And guess what you guys? She still said no but that didn't stop me from trying later that night 😅
This video has given me the confidence to install my own aftermarket stereo. Thank you Crutchfield. You rock.
Same
I just got a civic 2009 from my mother and it requires a bit of work.
There's fixing the arm rest clip, changing the speakers, fixing the hail damage, etc. All overwhelming at first, and i've wanted to customize it to my liking.
This video has given some newfound confidence and alleviated any concerns i've had. Didn't even know that putting in a touch screen audio unit was possible so mad props to ya crutchfield for this great video.
how’s your civic now bro
Yeah how's it now
@@luisramirez-or5vgdestroyed. I died in it.
Absolutely destroyed. I died in it
I have a Honda Civic from 2008. Thank you for the super detailed instructions. I think I
will buy and install the navigation myself. Keep up the good work. Greetings from the Netherlands.
Your a legend... well made video, to the point. No distractions no blah blah blah... I appreciate your dedication
Thank you for making the converter harness install so easy. Solder is so permanent and always puts me off of making any modifications to anything and the posilocks look like a great solution!
Update: since this video I've bitten the bullet and installed a stereo into my car and without your tips I would never have been able to do it on my own so thanks again for this video.
What a wholesome and helpful video. Hallmark channel needs to broadcast this during commercial break.
Thank you, this video has enticed me to install a new audio system in my car. I never new that it could of been done with the air vents in the panel.
You are the man! Thanks for the video. I'm currently installing the Pioneer W4660NEX in my 2008 Civic Si. I got the Taupe Scoche kit and the color match is pretty close. I was worried about screws cracking the trim panel, but I guess I was lucky and working in warm weather. I'm glad I discovered Crutchfield. It's been awesome so far! The only thing I really needed was an exacto knife to clean up some of the mold and sanded down under the climate control buttons because they were sticking. EZ PZ
Love these vehicle-specific how-to videos! Keep these up! (:
8:52-8:55 u can see the hvac controls have not been put in place properly buttons will stick and not come out! Its gotta rest in place before you lock it fully down then your golden
I saw that too, dude...
he also didnt put the door lock wires in the locks properly ...both of them
Thanks for the video, I followed all the instructions as you demonstrate to install my Kenwood radio and I could do it and it works perfectly. Thanks again...
I love you, Crutchfield. Thanks for this awesome video.
front door speakers start at 9:20
Thank you for that detailed instruction on how to install double din stereo on a civic. Now I am confident and excited to install the stereo I ondered online and follow your video to a tee. You are awesome!
Put a tablet from Walmart in my car today this video helped me alot thanks man you made it way easier for me 👍👍👌
one of the best video I've seen so far on the removal thanks it helped me out alot👍
nice work 😍awesome 😍
but 😔😔
u break my heart 😢😢
i wanna customize my honda civic 2008 specially audio system 😭😢😭
but i can't right now because every thing in my country expensive 😔
and if i wanna do it in future it's kind of impossible because i can't order any cart from ebay i'm from Syria and the war tired us
After watching this video, I think I'll just take my car to have the stereo installed.
literally one of the easiest things you can do yourself instead of paying someone 5x the amount for their "time".
Great vid. I been rocking with Crutchfield since the late 90's.
Awesome video. Just installed Kenwood head unit and Rockford 6.5’s that I ordered from you guys. Shipped fast as hell and sound great.
Nice!
Glad to hear you're enjoying your new gear! Let us know if we can help with anything else!
Well done! Extremely useful content and presentation.
Thank you for enjoying and commenting!🥰We deeply appreciate your kind words.
I followed this video like crazy and it worked for me thanks crutchfield you guys are awesome
This was such a good video! Imma buy from you guys just because of the quality of this video. No joke.
Good stuff. But it'd be nice if you pinned a comment noting that there are a few extra steps if your Civic has the factory premium sound system.
Fact. Becau5now I'm trying to figure where and how to do the amp bypass to get my subs to work or sound period
@@Aero_HER_Dynamic did you figure it out
@@thekempter1991 I did. Thanks a milli!
@@Aero_HER_Dynamic how did you do it? I am running into this problem right now. Please help if you can
Fantastic video!! Very crisp, clean, clear and easy to follow, great job!! Thank you so much!!
Your video makes me feel quite a bit more confident in doing this myself, thank you!
Wow, great video! Now I have the confidence to install my own aftermarket head unit! Thanks!
You're welcome Alejandro! Glad you enjoyed it!
I purchased a similar stereo from Crutchfield for my Civic, but mine includes an amp bypass and a steering wheel control adapter. Could you make a similar video showing how to install these? This one was so good, it would be much appreciated!
I see there IS a video on steering wheel control installation--just find it on the Crutchfield channel.
Awesome video helped me a lot on getting my new stereo installed!
Amazing tutorial with an amazing walkthrough. Subbed. :)
@Crutchfield You didn't show people how to route the external mic. I normally run that up through the windshield pillar cover and up to the middle of the hood lining away from the window to reduce wind noise.
how do you actually connect the brake wire with the posi-lock...do you have to strip part of the wire?
There is no cutting or stripping of the factory wire when you use the Posi Tap connectors: bit.ly/2p2XOgb Hope that helps!--Crutchfield
Sorry I'm new on this I don't understand what is the use of the break wire using the other stereo
looks easy but that would drive me nuts lol but great video crtuchfield
Thank You! Very Detailed & Clear Video Of Installation Process.
Great video ! Very clear steps and easy to follow :) Makes me want to start on this project for my Civic. Thank you!
You're welcome Brian. Glad you enjoyed!
Question regarding the two screws that get removed at 2:03. I just installed using a Scosche HA1561G Dash Kit and it's nearly impossible to put those screws back into it. Is that dash kit somehow supposed to reaccept those screws? I am having my doubts because the plastic doesn't have enough rigidity, compared to the OEM metal frame, to hold in place for the screws to line up.
Looks like you'll want to match up the kit/screws to the new radio as shown on page two of the kit manual here: pdf.crutchfieldonline.com/ImageBank/v20061012103600/Manuals/142/142HA1561G.PDF
@@crutchfield I went to the hardware store and bought a set of self tapping screws with a head wide enough to hold onto the metal in the car. I also used a drill to widen the plastic frames holes so it wouldn't crack
Glad to hear you got it installed! Hope you enjoy your new radio.
I just did mine! Thanks for the guide!
You're welcome! Glad you found it useful
Exactly what I needed
does anyone know how to install the steering audio control to work with aftermarket blaupeank in civic
Can you guys answer this? Or tell us a wiring harness that works with steering wheel control?
You need a additional interface for that
Factory honda civic radio comes with 4 harness plugged in. The 4th one on the right(not the antenna) has the wires for your steering wheel. I dont know which on it is all i know is that one of those wires plugs into your steering wheel. And for those who connected your new radio and have no sound the baby blue wire on that 4th harness is your answer. Connect that to the blue wire and your should get sound. (Baby blue wire is your amp connector)
I have 2009 honda civic ex and installed a radio without any harness. Its a bitch but it works.
Have you done this same vid for the Si since it has the amp and different install?
any luck finding a vid for the si?
Thank you for making the video, well put together!
Woow....you made that look so easy....I'm to afraid to go pulling panels out of the car lol....what's that tool you use ?
it's called a trim panel remover. Sold on ebay or amazon for really cheap.
Omfg finally a video clip i can watch and understand. Thank you!!!
I must be missing something or got screwed some how! I went to install aftermarket tweeters in my 2011 Honda civic LX sedan and when i popped off the plastic dash corner speaker grill to my surprise there was no tweeter installed and no wiring or harness. just an empty whole! So i couldn't install my tweeters cause i had nothing to work with. =( Is this normal for my car?
Unfortunately, that's fairly common, because not all of the Civic models included the factory dash tweeters.
Nice detailed instruction! Cheers mate 👍
Is there a video that shows how to replace the radio with an aftermarket 06 Honda Civic with the premium setup? The adapter for the steering wheel controls as well?
Good job bro, thanks!
I know I wasn’t the only one looking at his knuckles all scrapped like he got in to a fight lol
My brake wire was green and when I finished installing it, the receiver only worked with the hand brake up, any help would be appreciated? 👍 Also my radio kit from metra didnt want to click in so it is just sticking out on its right side.
The parking brake does need to be engaged to use some features on the current AV models; but not all. Be sure to double check your connections and radio settings. If you got the radio here, you can call our Tech Support as well. Their direct number is on your invoice.
at 9:05 the ac buttons don't look flesh with the dash kit? Is this how it will look?
No. The trim was not fully clipped back into place in that frame. The buttons will be flush when the install is complete (you can see it in subsequent frames in the video) For additional assistance and personalized recommendations, feel free to contact us directly: bit.ly/2jBGHPp Hope that helps.--Crutchfield
Good question, I had same concern
Don't even have a civic but I liked the video 😂
Love this video, very very helpful
So I got some 300w speakers n idk if I have to get an amplifier, change my radio, or do both for em to sound good.
What is the exact brand and model of your speakers? 300-watts is a large amount of power, and we can match an amp to the RMS wattage specifications on your speakers perfectly. For the absolute best possible performance from any speaker, an aftermarket amp is a great call.
you still gotta buy this kit even if you got the navigation radio ?
You'll need the recommended dash mount kit even when you have the factory GPS system, yes.You can view all of the models we recommend to fit your vehicle along with the required installation accessories you'll need, by using the "Outfit My Car" application on the main Crutchfield website: bit.ly/2l32bTh For additional assistance and personalized recommendations, feel free to contact us directly: bit.ly/2jBGHPp Hope that helps.--Crutchfield
This was insanely helpful. Thank you
2008 Civic - There is no blue wire to attach the blue antenna lead to. From what I can find the switched 12V line is the correct wire - does that sound right?
What model radio are you installing?
Call them if u need extra support. They told me the parking wire is light green for my coupe. The sedans have an orange wire instead
^^^^^^Great advice. If you purchased your gear from Crutchfield we provide lifetime Technical Support, call us with your order number handy and we are happy to help! We are rocking the phones 7-days a week.🤘
Very thoughtful guide you made here 👍
Good we're glad you enjoyed it!
The climate control buttons seem recessed in the aftermarket console piece. Any ways to avoid or fix that?
Malcolm Ivers find an oem one
he didn't put them in right
My Civic LX has dash-mounted tweeters too. Do the door speakers get full range or do they have a low pass filter? Can I disconnect the dash tweeters after I install the aftermarket door speakers?
What is the year of the Civic?
There is an extra plug that went into the old factory stereo, do we just leave that cord unplugged?
Did you ever get an answer to this question?
Do the knobs on the hvac control
(temp and fan speed) knobs have to be removed?
yes they do
Thank you for the explanations.
Excellent very well done tutorial....
Great for if you need to deep clean the console and doors as well.
⭐️ Subscribed.
Thank you! 🙂
Great video... keep up the good work...
Thanks!

Great video but do you not have to bypass the factory amp
The blue radio antenna adapter wire should actually be tapped into the red wire coming from the vehicle. The antenna needs to be powered by a switched 12V wire, which is the red.
I notice you didn't attach the backside of the radio to any metal support bracket. Won't the radio bounce around?
Hi, there I have an 2006 Honda Civic ex 2dr. I all ready replace all the speakers and put an after market stereo do I have to replace the factory amp or not?? What’s the max power of that amp?
I was hoping for a component speaker installation for the install of the tweeters. Got any vids on how to install tweeters into the 8th gen honda civic?
I'm afraid we don't have any videos available specific to that installation in your Civic--however we have a component speaker "install guide" you can view from the Crutchfield website: www.crutchfield.com/I-rYTVc000/learn/learningcenter/car/component_speakers_installation_guide.html?search=speaker_installation
Feel free to contact an Advisor if you have any further questions or concerns. Hope that helps!

Best video ever, thanks a lot!!!
What about with navigation and premium sound with factory amplifier?
We have gear to help replace that radio and our MasterSheet instructions for it as well. Our online fit guide can help find radios that can fit as well as the installation parts to install them. Here it is:
www.crutchfield.com/I-rFBKc227/car/carselector.aspx
I need to remove the radio and the display above it from the dash panel. I am going to attempt to polish the display. Someone took some kind of chemical or maybe a dirty cloth and scratched it so bad you cannot see display except at night. How does the radio knobs come off?
Oh I hate to hear that happened. We don't know if the radio knobs can come off. That wasn't necessary to know when replacing the stock radio. We found that the climate control knobs outer rings pry off helping to separate them for the panel.
Fantastic tutorial
What about the aux input? Is there an adapter we could use instead of running a separate aux cable?
What is the name and size of the speaker doors you use.? And how good they are.?
Very neat and well done thank you !
can you explain more about the wires? because i want to install my subs and amp in mine
very well put together video professional
My harness has yellow/black for life what do you do with that one? Nothing ? Thanks for your help in advance
I don't show a yellow/black wire in the Metra harness we recommend. What harness are you referring to? You can connect with one of our Product Advisors for personalized advice on the gear you'll need: bit.ly/2DGSzu3
my music plays good but as soon as I throw the car in drive and accelerate the music cuts off is it because I don't have that parking break wire connected to the wiring harness on the double din ?
I doubt that your issue is linked to the parking brake wire. That wire only affects video and the ability to see it. That being said, I don't know what would cause your issue. If you purchased the gear from Crutchfield, I recommend calling our technical support for help. If the gear was purchased elsewhere and they cannot help, you might try contacting the manufacturer for help
I followed the instructions to a T with Maestro harness and stock subwoofer. I still get feedback in my speakers as soon as I turn the key to accessory :(
Oh no. If you purchased the gear from us, then give our Tech Support team a call. They should be able to help trouble shoot the issues and get it sorted out for you. You can find their number on your invoice or in the "my orders" sections of the website.
If you can which Receiver is that you are installing for the Honda Civic?
This install was done with a Jensen VX7022 double din navigation receiver. It has been discontinued and we have sold out of them but you can shop for current model receivers that can fit your Civic here:
www.crutchfield.com/I-rYTVc227/car/carselector.aspx
Can anyone answer this? Why does he tap into the brake wire? Literally no other video I've seen does or even mentions this and it seems like everyone's doing fine without it.
Video receivers require a connection to your parking brake. Certain features will not function unless you are parked with the brake engaged.
Can someone tell me where I can find everything he used in this video
I just need to know a hypermarket hardness have 4 white which 2 is speaker wire and what other 2 wire are...
Is there a video where they install an amplifier wiring kit to the same car
Do you need to upgrade the radio ? For new speakers?
You can upgrade the speakers without upgrading the radio.
Amazing work!!!
I didn't see it where the steering wires are attached is that possible to do with an Alpine and IXL 007
Steering wheel controls are retained by way of a vehicle specific adapter harness. What's the year make and model of your car?
My issue is that ill have power to the stereo (it glows) but nothing is displayed on the screen, and it stays on when I turn the car off. Do I need something else to connect to my amp? 06 civic ex coupe
thanks buddy i needed this
Happy to help :-)
At 2:45 on your video you said there are 3 grey connectors at the back of the stereo, but at 3:11 on your video, it shows 4 connectors. From left to right: The first one you connected it to the antenna adapter and the fourth one you connected it to the wiring harness adapter. At 7:40 you only connected the wiring harness and antenna harness. Where are the second and third go? Do you know what are those cable for? Because it is a video receiver, why you have to run a wire to the brake wire?
does that bracket work on any speaker do I have to buy something else and is that a 6.5 speaker
Nice work
Can you do this in the 06 civic hybrid that has the touch screen?
You would likely be best suited reaching out to an advisor for more personalized help! bit.ly/2KP1zS3
