- Update 8/15/2017: I've received a lot of negativity for this video and I appreciate all the feedback. I had only just learned how to fish when I made this. This was just a lazy afternoon on the dock with the supplies I had just to have some fun. Don't take it too seriously! Thanks for watching!
In this video, I go over my easy way of bass fishing with live bait. I use primarily bluegill but on this day, the wild shiners decided to show up. Hope you learn something and fish on!
ig: @swampazz - Sport
You gotta love the peace and quite.nothing ,but man and fish ,fish and man on a Summer day. They love to lay in those lilly patches were the shade is.
So many fishing professionals in the comment section. People always have negative comments and try to take the fun out of everything. Can't enjoy anything without someone criticizing. Enjoyed the video. Looked fun. I have a blast catching anything the bites the hook, haha.
Lol, yeah I agree, but it's all good. I don't think they realized that I'm not out there trying to guide or charter someone where I need a bucket of bait. I'm just chilling on my dock with one rod and catch one fish at a time and throw it out and wait. It's just good ol' fashioned fun and relaxing. Thanks for the input and tight lines!
The sound of that braid on a spinner rod is something that will never get old to me good fish man!
Ikr
Dude ... If ya had fun and learned something, I think ya did just great. There will always be negativity, it's YOUR choice to let it bother ya or simply not to. I think ya did fine my friend. Keep having fun and NEVER stop learning!! Tight lines my friend!!
Best bluegill bass fishing video I've seen in a while, thanks. Keep it up
I have watched this video so many times for no reason cause I just enjoy it
I like this old school way to fish, awesome video!
The shiner earned its freedom
Wow... great video.. I was inspired to try this myself... Just tried it and made a video using live caught shiners.. caught a couple nice bass...thanks again
Can’t see anything negative about catching fish. Thanks for the video. I’ll b watching more.
Awesome video! I look forward to more, great stuff. It's sweet when you take the paddle board out, those are some of my favorite vids. :)
I miss those days having a backyard with a lake or a pond.Just having fun fishing n enjoying nature.
Don't listen to all these "fishing pros" saying you suck at fishing instead of giving you actual feedback. Keep doing your thing and having fun and learning man. Subbed
Hey man, much appreciated! Yeah, I noticed real quick when loading videos on CZcams, all the trolls come out and try to break you down. Can't take it personally and can't focus on it, because that's when you get stuck on it and don't advance or get better. Tight lines!
I always loved live bait fishing for any fish including bass
Hey jonathan nice catches ☺ Although if you want to catch more bluegill in less time try using a much smaller hook. How I like to do it is I just take a look at the fish's mouth and imagine what kind of hook would fit it just right. Anyways great video keep fishing!
yo, nice informative video brother, givin me a reason to go live bait fishing after bass fishing with lures for years
Tough bluegill fishing if you have to chum to get them! But, with all of the dock access around that lake I bet they get a lot of pressure - I've experienced tough 'gill fishing in other public places, like camp grounds; they get educated. If they take shiners that large then bluefish/saltwater plugs might work.
Looks like your having fun man, nice video.
Fishing is for anyone its so fun catching anything n just having a good time out their.so people stop hating on the fishing game.
I remember the first time I watched bluegill close to shore; thought it was odd....then I looked out and seen 5 bass patrolling this area like killer whales. Hooked one of those bluegill and threw it out amongst the bass and wham it was like a feeding frenzy.
You don't have to listen to all the negative feedback on here. People are just jealous of your skills. Everyone on the internet is 7 feet tall and used to be a linebacker in college. *pffft*
dont let anyone crush your dreams you are a good fisherman
Thanks a million for sharing this video Now I wanna go fishing NICE BASS way to go Man
I use bread to get them feeding, then take a can of chilled biscuit dough and just mash a little around the hook. Usually shiners, a better bass bait in my opinion, hang out in closed corners of most lakes
Yeah, chumming up the area is vital for catching bluegill.
This just goes to show ya... You don't always need perfect sized hooks. Whatever works, works.
Grew up bass fishing with live bait, havent done so in a while but man it used to be fun! Great video
Great video!!! Beautiful lake!!!
Bass fishing is my favorite
Love it bro. I fish the same here in South Alabama
jor4288 me too
Bro that was an awesome video on how to catch your bait and then catch a big one!
I have the exact same Costas. Love mine!! Great video
Awesome Costas. Just ran over those ones with the car and ordered a new pair. Can't beat them?
Swampazz Fishing oh Dude! That hurt to read.
I enjoyed watching :) always wanted to try live bait.
Nice video, great fish fishing tips and techniques.
Great video keep up the amazing work
Don’t listen to the haters, you where just beginning fishing
How come you tightened up the drag so much before you set the hook on the bass you caught on the shiner
Ok I was just wondering because I fish in minisota and we can't use pan fish as bait but sorry for the hassle and nice catch!
Jonathan Forrest it is good to know a fellow fishing friend I live in La Jolla California and I go saltwater fishing and I recently caught a 30 lb yellow tail and you said you live in Florida? Love your videos great content keep it up!
Carter Rawson sub to me please
That's crazy considering you guys have like a million freaking lakes lol..
Carter Rawson awesome! I grew up in Escondido as a kid👍🏼
I have never fished for bass using shiners, but it looks effective and fun!
Since I made this video a couple of years ago, I have learned that the bluegill/brim are more effective than the shiners, in my experience.
@@SwampazzFishing Thanks for the update!
I use them for pike
I fish S. Tx. canals with big live bait for big bass. It's awesome. OP is right to wait before setting the hook. Especially if it's a damn gar, lol!
fantastic video man!!
I've never had a problem catching bream with live English red worms on the bottom. BIG Big Bluegills. Our pond is harder to catch the bream when feeding bread to them.
I do the same thing with a sabiki. Catch a ton of shiners and bluegills.
This man needs more subs
Nice you see everything thanks man
Use a octopus 3/0 (3 ought) instead the worm hooks break time to time exspecialky if you have a bass or cat or walleye over 6 lbs
I'm bringing my boys down to Deland in April. We will be trying this on the St Johns.
Hey. Caught my PB bass (3lbs. I Know it's small, but that's pretty big for PA) on a live weightless bluegill
CEO fishing where in PA I live In Poconos 3 lb is big for here
I got a 5 in PA
At our pond, you gotta pull the brim outta the water or the bass will snatch it, and break your brim pole
That's awesome! I wish my bass were that involved. lol
Looked like a blast to me! Haters gonna hate
Great video brother!!!! Thank you!!!!
Yo, Jon the pro live bait fisherman out here. Lol, this vid came up on my suggested somehow, you almost got half a mil on this bro!!
LMAO! I can't believe this video is still getting all the hits. That's crazy, but I really think I need to re-do it. Maybe next time you come down, we can make one together?
@@SwampazzFishing Haha I'm down! I'll be back in December back at Disney. Going for my new pb there.
keep on catching them buddy
What kind of crybaby would be negative about this video?
Good video man. Thumbs up.
We're did you get that rode from that you using for blue gill
You can get them from Walmart. They're called "Brim rods".
Nobody’s saying don’t fish but the problem with live bait fishing for bass there’s a right way which isn’t gut hooking , a lot of bass die because of this , for this type of fishing a reel like a ambassador 6500 or better because it needs to be a quick fight to ensure that the fish is caught and released Quickly.
Wow you live on a nice peace of property I like the little dock area
Thank! It's where I first learned how to fish in 2015. It always helps if you live on/close to water.
Swampazz Fishing yes I live about 50 feet from a huge lake and nobody else fishes where I do and there is also a bridge
Great video thanks for the help
They always eat live bait. What choice do they have?
Why do you use such big hooks for bluegill? I use size 9
You need a casting net with all those bluegill
Hey John about how long was your wait before you had that dude on? are there shiners like that all over or just in your area? I'm in central fl so just wondering. thanks!
Hey man thanks for the info!!! I can't wait to try it!!!
R n S McKee that was not a shiner it was a typ of carp
Cameron Pollard it was a freshwater bream
Sometimes that's the best way to get pressured bass (in my experience ) maybe not for everyone
What the fun in fishing if you use line you could hang an anvil off and drag the fish out the water. They do this in France too it’s a lot different in the uk
👍 great video!
This is the lake behind trinity prep high school in Winter Park right
Negative, it's over in the Sanford/Lake Mary area. Lake Ada.
Very nice video, is this in Florida?
I'm in land o lakes near tampa and I used to catch the shiners in my private lake and catch 2 or 3 10+ pound bass
@JustinBieber Tampa is in Florida don't you think ? huh.
Anybody have any tips on using jigs for bass? Always fished with senkos or any other rubber worm, but I've seen some huge bass caught on jigs. Thanks!
Throw em out and reel them in. Change up retrieve until something works. Bass are almost as easy to catch as Pike. Not hard. Walleye or Musky now that is tough.
Great video.
Awesome!
Was the bass gut hooked?
nah, it was in the roof of the mouth
Nice video man
gr8 underwater footage
do you use a slip bobber ?
Shinner always work
Nice fish
where im from you just need a worm and they swarm on that.... no need for cat/dog food or bread... just good ol fashion worm and in about 2 seconds u r hooked up
You are absolutely correct! They will destroy a small worm on a small hook. I just use pond food or cat food or bread just to keep feeding them and keep them around my dock. The schools get very large if they are conditioned to know there is food there. Makes it easier/faster to just nab one up if the numbers are greater.
u need a bigger rod and reel do u use ultra lite saltwater fishing
lol, I believe I have a grouper rod sitting around somewhere with 120lb braid. That should work better next time.
Bluegill will work too but I wld of defiantly put that huge shiner on there. U wld of caught a monster bro
It’s legal to put bluegills on where you are?
Yessir, in the state of Florida, it is legal to use them as bait. I know it is illegal to use them in other states, but not in Florida.
I didn't think it was legal to use gamefish to catch gamefish and I live in Florida to. Tallahassee to exact. I've done it but not since I was a kid
good stuff brother.
Nice
Sept. 4, 2018---I've already seen a couple of video's of people using bread and dry dog food, but don't understand why you're wasting time in trying to catch ONE bluegill when with a casting net, you should have a dozen or more in one attempt. Thanks for the video.
I understand completely but I wanted to show people how to just throw one line out off a dock if you're just having fun. If you continue to feed the bluegills/shiners in one location, they will always be there. So, if you are fishing from a dock all the time, you basically have a continuous supply of fresh bait fish right below you. If I were going out on a boat with multiple lines, I would definitely catch multiple and take them with me. One last thing, I've used cast nets in my lake, and like most lakes in Florida, it is PACKED with underwater weeds/hydrilla/muck. After one throw of the net, it's all gunked up and it's a pain in the butt trying to clean that crap off, so I just stick to using a brim rod, lol. Thanks for watching!
Oh bobber went under oh did it again just set the hook
anyone else watching october 2019
Nan Su me
@@masonmaharowski6591 =D
Would a cast net not be better for getting bait?
It would if you want or need a lot of bait. I mainly only throw one line out at a time, maybe 2. My lake has enourmous amounts of hydrilla and underwater grass and muck. The times I have thrown a net, it's a pain in the butt trying to clean all that gunk off. Also, not everyone has or needs a cast net. I find it easier, and just a little more fun, to just try and catch them with a small hook. Just out there having fun with what you got!
Swampazz Fishing - Cool. I was just curious. Makes sense for smaller scale fishing to line catch bait.
ignore negative responds
I'm getting some shiners tomaro
That’s the lake where they catch those big shellcrackers. .
Use that shiner as cut bait for catfish
Good point! Fishing for catfish is something that I haven't done much of and didn't even think about. I'll definitely try that next time.
Nice place for fishing where's this at
Mosquito Lagoon/Indian River Lagoon area
My one friend caught a 7 on a live bull frog. Bass will eat whatever is natural to their ecosystem. I've seen people fish for bass with frogs, Shiners, turtles, hell even bats. If they're in the ecosystem, the bass most likely eats it
I can't even buy shinners that big were I live, would be nice.
Awesome video bro!! Hoping our channel gets to your level someday!
cool!
Nice video, I subbed
Nice video........................................................................
Nice vid man
Wow
