Acrually the rapline is Han, Changbin, Felix and Hyunjin. 3RACHA are the production team of SKZ. But after all, they all can rap and sing.

@@leonardoenrico2152 yeah, I know but when we talk about units, he is part of the vocal unit (with Minho and the maknae line) more than rap unit. 3racha was a rap and producing unit before SKZ. Now it's just producing unit.

    • @darinamachavova
      @darinamachavova Před 2 lety +14

@@michaelaroskova4793 it doesn't make sense to put them in units nowadays. Minho raps more than Chan now, Felix has more singing parts and so on. The only ones really sticking to their unit from the very beginning are Seungmin and Jeongin. You hardly ever hear them rap except from songs which are purely rap as Maze of memories or S/N (Jeongins part is hilarious btw)

Yeah i was confused when she said Hyunjin "sometimes" raps , like he always raps ? 😅
And Chan although he can rap , is definitely more a vocal . 3racha are the production team , not the rapline

This was really interesting, I love getting a technical perspective. So Stray Kids actually do almost their entire production themselves, they have a couple of regular producers they sometimes work with a little, but Bang Chan, Changbin, and Han are the most credited 4th gen producers with over 100 songs each. Bang Chan tends to make the beats but they do everything from recording to digital editing and have been making their stuff since pre-debut. An interesting thing about Stray Kids that tends to catch the ears of those with technical expertise is they are pretty experimental. Their songs can sometimes be liked or hated because of it, but they're usually smart. If you were interested in their experimental side songs like Side Effects or The Tortoise and the Hare are interesting ones to look at. But their most recent Japanese release Circus is a fun one too. Bang Chan never stops working to the degree he recently made a whole EDM song on a live in like half an hour because one of his members asked him to- it's pretty hilarious and called Kkulchong song if you ever want to look it up.
Also can I say, I love how much joy is on your face watching your husband demonstrate his knowledge, it's really sweet.

I didn't listen to Kpop before Skz and was pleasantly surprised how much I loved their sound when I heard them for the first time. I love all of their tracks, possibly because I know they write and heavily self produce most of their songs.
Some of my fav Skz tracks are Easy, The Tortoise and the Hare, Distrct 9, Side Effects, Thunderous where they've incorporated traditional Korean instruments etc. Would love to listen to any (or all of them 😆) toghether with both of you some day. I think you will like Easy as well, it has a very cool vibe. I suppose I have to subscribe now to make sure I don't miss it if you do. 🌞

Stray kids has such a diverse range of songs it's hard to really pick out just a few to listen to lol. Hope to see more stray kids~ Cause I found this really interesting. there is kpop... then there is dreamcatcher \:D/
I think the biggest barrier for western metalheads to get pass is the tempo of a lot of their rock songs. you have to keep in mind their title tracks are composed with choreo performance in mind so that's why faster pace for dancing. another reason is a lot of their lyrical message is upbeat/uplifting. I know that will turn off a lot of rock/metal purists from the western hemisphere but ones that can make that crossover will uncover a whole new side of music because dreamcatcher's music is probably the most diverse and unique music I've heard anywhere.

Great content! 3RACHA (the Stray Kids members who make the songs) are really good at composing toplines in my opinion. I'm especially a fan of their pre-choruses, love the melodies they compose. All their songs, not just their title tracks, are so good. Also Bang Chan often contributing to the arrangements makes their songs feel more personal, with him adding sounds into the instrumentals related to their lyrics. Btw, 3RACHA are not necessarily the main rappers, Bang Chan is more of a vocalist, with Han and Changbin being the main rappers, just a little reminder haha, anyway thank you for this detailed reaction!

    Stray Kids recommendations hehe
    Experimental ones/Unique to kpop:
    1. Totoise and the Hare (for me, the production is soooo genius T^T I wanna hear a unbiased reaction to it hehe)
    2. Side Effects - a psytrance which I did not enjoy at first, but the more I listened to it, I began to appreciate it better
    3. My Side - this is the most experimental thing I ever heard, but it turned out good!
    4. Maniac (I believe this should join the list becoz when I first heard it, I was taken aback how the chorus fit with the verses XD)
    5. Backdoor - I don't know much of the production but it won the 8th spot in TIME last 2020, I'd like to appreciate it more from the perspective of a producer hehe
    Songs to enjoy/have fun:
(they bring satisfaction to the ears)
    1. Circus
    2. Charmer
    3. Ssick
    4. Domino
    5. Christmas EveL
    More:
    1. Venom - this just tickled my ears and my soul felt it XD
    2. Thunderous
    3. Miroh - this is in every STAY starter pack
And I'd like to request for the next Stray Kids reaction vid, if may be, your husband could pick the one/s he liked most out of them all hehe Thank you!! ♥ I enjoyed this a lot :))

Like Hellevator, District 9, Miroh, etc. And some softer songs, like Sorry I love you, Secret Secret, Gone Days, Voices etc. They have an amazing range of music. and to add: not a stray kids song, but Mirror Mirror by F.Hero x MILLI Ft. Changbin from Stray Kids - it's such an amazing song.

  • @NIA-ml7wp
    @NIA-ml7wp Před 2 lety +1

hi! first of all thank you for your reaction to SKZ! I love the comments that your husband has made towards music production, as Stray Kids completely produce their own music, i just wanted to clarify some things to better understand the group: they're not "producing a bit of their music", they're fully on producing all of their discography with little help from two other friends/producers that help them arrange a good chunk of their stuff: 3RACHA produces and writes everything skz has ever made, and Bang Chan arranges most of the tracks sometimes with friend VERSACHOI or Armadillo, but now Chan has more involvement in arranging on his own. He also recently became recording engineer, whereas Han has been vocal director for a year now (Changbin has been a vocal director since forever), they're deeply involved in their music, the other members also help write some stuff sometimes; also, they don't have directions to follow by the company regarding their songs/albums. JYP even said that he was nervous to approach the group with a track he made in fear of them rejecting it and accepting the gift just cause they were being polite. Gods Menu itself wasn't supposed to be in the album; Stray Kids produced the album GO LIVE and weeks before they were dropping it Hyunjin and Changbin talked about how they werent sure their current song should've been their title track, saying they liked Gods Menu more. So they called the company and said they wanted to change title track despite being so close to the deadline, but the staff at JYPE has complete trust on them, so they let them do what they wanted to do, and to this day Gods Menu changed the trajectory of their entire career becoming their most popular song. That's how they changed their own sound and found out their identity. Stray Kids have more than 50 sounds in their music but all the hard hitting songs have their "uniqueness" that we all call "mala taste genre". it's their own sound that they created.
Stray Kids is the only kpop group where the company gave total control to the members and especially the leader. Chan picked the members himself amongst the ones he wanted to debut with, created their own logo with his calligraphy; they make beats, they compose, they help choreograph their stuff, they have complete creative freedom and at first they were "an experiment", but now JYPE has realized how good of a decision it has been to let that young man that trained for 7 years to create his own group by himself and make a track on their own to show they were ready to debut. The track is "Hellevator" and i suggest you to listen to it if you have time!
As a metallhead myself i can suggest some stuff by SKZ that are personal favorites like TA, Awake, BEWARE (Grrr), YAYAYA, Slump and My side (please check the ot8 versions - except for slump they were all ot9 songs -, they rerecorded all of them). I think you would also enjoy 3RACHA's songs but for hard rap I would recommend something ot8 like Maze of Memories and The Tortoise and the Hare which is a masterpiece both lyrically and production wise. Its genius istg.
Also related to Stray Kids and Dreamcatcher, little side note: Stray Kids were the first kpop group to create a track using the Psytrance genre and they got so much hate for it cause it was new, different and innovative, fully aware it could've caused backlash, the song is "Side Effects" and it's very strong, not for everyone but it made history and to this day it's one of my favorites. After Stray Kids released it, one of the first groups to follow was actually Dreamcatcher with "Scream" and that one as well is one of my favorites!
One last thing before I go (sorry its a long comment!), there aren't fixed positions in Stray Kids anymore, as they all can rap , sing beautifully and dance extremely well. 3RACHA arent just rappers, especially since Chan is mostly in charge of vocals lately, so they can all do pretty much everything and are very versatile. Han can even belt an A5 without warming up and out nowhere (he recently did that on tour in america while joking around!). so yeah! I'm actually excited to see you to delve into more Stray Kids especially those songs that aren't so famous but deserve to be heard! Thank you again and i look forward to more SKZ

first off, producer Chris meets producer Christopher Bang hahaha. ah, skz is the blueprint of their own music then they collab with company producers.
When he pointed out skz's focus on the intro, that explained why i never bore when my playlist just consists of stray kids. coz despite "half-listening", i am aware where the song ends and another song starts (that and their diverse genre is a rollecoaster in shuffle 😭). and it's why "guess the song based on the intro" is relatively easy when it comes to them 😂
Dreamcatcher reminds me of Jrock which is why i like casually listening to them, and what hooks me most is Dami's tone hehe

Show your husband some Babymetal. If you mix Twice’s cute vocals, Metallica’s hard rock sounds, and anime in a blender, you pretty much end up with Babymetal. Show him their first video “Doki Doki Morning” and their latest video “BxMxC” to see how their music has evolved over 10 years. Also I’m excited to see Dreamcatcher in concert in Chicago next month.

You guys make a great couple! And also on a reaction-based level. Each adds their own take on the song which happen to be quite different: one is more visually driven, the other more musically. Count me interested in seeing more reactions from the both of you.
"You are chiseling down my barriers". Yes, just let it happen dude. I've seen the most hardcore metalheads ending up with being in love with Twice. I mean, you already mentioned you liked (catchy) melodies :D

And Dreamcatcher is for sure a great way to start. That's why I'm a little hesitant to already recommend different groups, especially because Dreamcatcher themselves already cover so many genres:
If you like more metal influenced, go for Endless Night or No More.
If you like more rock, continue with the nightmare series: Good Night, Fly High, You and I, What, Piri.
If you like a bit of piano or orchestral, go with Deja Vu or R.o.S.E Blue.
If you like a bit more R&B go with Wonderland.
Jazz: Jazz Bar. EDM: Silent Night.
If you don't know what you like, go for their Dystopia series (Scream, Boca, Odd Eye).
But I do feel I have to comment about your statement that "girl groups are usually cutesy". In my opinion that's definitely not the case, especially the last (few) year(s). I recommend checking out: (G)-Idle, Purple Kiss, Loona, Pixy, Itzy, Mamamoo, Irene&Seulgi, etc.

Definitely recommend reacting to 'Side effects' and 'District 9', but also 'Freeze' and 'Venom'
I know 'Domino' never got a music video but its definitely a good song with the domino effect in the music i think would be interesting to react.

No, they didn't lower Felix's voice. That's 100% him, and he can go significantly lower than that and has proven it live.

  • @GaelleCathy
    @GaelleCathy Před 2 lety +1

That was a very interesting, and informative video reaction. I hope you bring your husband more often. It gives a new perspective. Great.
On the other hand, they produce more than 'some' of their songs, they produce most of their songs. And Bang Chan is not the third rapper. He's on of the writing/producing team 3RACHA and the leader, as you know. But the rap line would be more something like Changbin, Han, Hyunjin, Felix, Bang Chan and Lee Know. Bang Chan and Lee Know's vocal side are used more and more on recents songs, which is great. I want to say Hyunjin too but he still remains rap/heavy. Thanks for the reaction!!!

  • @RM_formerlyjustRMbutYTsucks

I enjoyed this, especially hearing another musician's perspective and seeing how his compares to mine. Other commenters have surely corrected the misinformation about 3RACHA's actual role and who really does most of the rapping and passed along the info that there aren't actual positions like main/lead/sub.
So the only significant thing I can think of to add is a correction to the impression I think (based on how you phrased what you told him) you might have about the level of contribution SKZ/3RACHA have to their producing. They aren't doing "some" or "a lot of" or the like; they're the _main_ producers. They've produced literally every single song to some degree (the single one 3RACHA didn't do, Danceracha did, so it's still SKZ), with more and more of that including the composing and arranging and engineering as time has gone on. 3RACHA have been doing this for many years now, since before SKZ existed. They don't have a mentor or guide steering them and letting them collect token producing credits; they're doing it themselves, as that's part of their "concept" -- doing it themselves and letting both the successes and not-so-successes be seen as part of their natural growth. Yes, they have a few co-producers they like to work with, mostly at the arranging stage, but 3RACHA are the ones in charge of it all, and that sets them apart from most of the industry.

13:14 that is fucking sad. I enjoy K-Pop, but I also enjoy my 7 zo 14 minute epic metal songs, also classical music. Sometimes I even think K-Pop would be better if the songs were like 10 - 30 seconds longer, depending on the song. Sometimes there are so many good ideas just burned in one song and none of them can breath.
