FAQ:
Who is this lady?
Gina Petitti was born in 1935 in Faeto, Italy. Her family ran a farm in Italy and she met her husband, Vito, in the same town. In 1970 Gina, Vito, and her 4 children immigrated to America. Gina’s husband passed away in 2012, but she is surrounded by a large family, which includes 9 grandchildren, and lives 5 minutes away from her eldest daughter in New Jersey. Gina spends her time cooking, gardening, and being an active member of her local Church.
Where does Gina get her recipes?
Most of these recipes are from what she learned growing up in Italy, but some of them have evolved over time. She has also learned new recipes from friends and family in America. She is always eager to try new things.
Why is no one helping her in the video?
Grandma Gina doesn’t want help! Usually, it’s because we will slow her down or not do it “her way.” For the videos we only show her, but when the camera cuts we jump in and help form the cookies or prep for the next step.
Why don’t we buy her a new...?
Grandma Gina has a closet and garage full of new gadgets, spoons, forks, pots, etc… but she doesn’t like them because she is used to doing it with her old tools. She has fun getting her hands dirty!
Who is behind the camera?
Her retired son-in-law films, her daughter helps her prep, and she usually has one or two grandkids in the kitchen.
Does Gina read the comments?
We print out and show her how much love she gets from all her viewers, and she is very thankful and hopes you enjoy her cooking! Your comments bring her lots of joy, laughter, and inspiration to make more videos to share with you.
Thank you for watching, we hope you subscribe, and we will see you in our next video! - Jak na to + styl

@lima leaf frog Right?!
As soon as she said that, I thought "never"! Twenty-three video minutes later, the entire board is covered with cavatelli !
I love her!!!!!!♥️♥️♥️
😂😂😂
Gina, my wife and I made some tonight and this was my first time making pasta...I have NEVER in my life had pasta that good!!!!!! We also made homemade sauce to go on it. Thank you Gina for inspiring me to try something new. Now I'm looking at getting a pasta maker. Please don't change who you are at all because we LOVE YOU!!!!!!
My favorite part is always when she says she is making a small batch just for purposes of demonstration and then proceeds to make enough to feed an army. I’d love to see her definition of a large batch. She’s awesome.
Christopher Ratchford that must be an Italian trait, my husband is always worried there won’t be enough and so makes too much. LOL.
"Small batch" just translates differently from Italian.
Watch her vídeo on preserving tomatoes, that is certainly a huge amount. Being portuguese I know a lot about huge amounts at any given time at meal time.
Lol there is only 2 of us in my house so I go feed my neighbors and mail man😳
Cedra Weaver yes make my neighborhood happy with my nodules and cookies 😍
Gina, you do not have a lazy bone in your body. You are so full of love and joy that comes right through the screen. It never fails to bring happy tears to my eyes. You are a gift to your biological family, and to all of us who have come to know you through the beautiful videos that you have shared with us.
Cheryl Lehrman so well said. I feel exactly the same.
@@ginamac9112 Ditto! I love that sweet Nonna.
Exactly! I watch more for her and her spirit, the food is just a bonus. I pray the good Lord keeps and protects her all the days of her life.

Brilliantly said! 👌❤
I ate Cavatelli on my first date with my now, husband. We will celebrate 25 years in April. I still love both.
🎉Congratulations 🎊 & many more years to come❣
Lori Holman thank you! 😀
Congratulations, to you and your husband on your 25th Anniversary! Bless you, both. What a wonderful memory is to remember what you had on your "fist date." that tells one this is a very special meal! Grandma doe a fantastic job teaching how to make Cavatelli, and this will hopefully make many more memories for people.
Love when Gina talks about her history with the food. "When I was a little girl..." Love Nonna Gina!
She’s always so happy! God bless this woman!

When I get notification, the music starts,I see Bella Nona Gina it brings me soo much 💖I know we will all get wonderful stories of her childhood, beautiful songs, brings back all my very past,I hold dear in my heart, those days have been gone but our memories are what we have...since I found this channel from the beginning I'm so glad I did..Thank you to your family for sharing you with us...so much love, respect, appreciation for all you do for us all..🙏❤️
Maria Casella Great surprise!! ❤️
Maria Casella Ditto!🙌
I love all of Nonna Gina's recipes, but this one really touched my heart. I remember as a boy my late nonna, parents and even aunts helping with the homemade cavatelli. There were white sheets of cavatelli drying throughout the house. While the sugo cooked. Oh what I would give to have just one of those days back! Thank you Nonna Gina you are truly a blessing.
Love it when she sings songs from the old country as she cooks...like grandmothers all over the world! You go Gina.
i have ptsd and sometimes my depression turns my thoughts to white noise. times like this make it difficult to plan dinner. i am so grateful for granma gina, her songs, her joy, her great instruction, her excellent food. thanks so much for sharing. you've no idea how much it helps me and my family
Very good description. I suffer from PTSD, anxiety, depression myself and I get either "white noise" or intrusive/obtrusive thoughts bombarding me a thousand miles an hour.
Her videos help me.
@@johnchase4408 Bless you both!
Susan B Cooking is a great escape from this nutso world! Keep watching Gramma Gina, and stay happy!👍
I had depression for well over ten years and managed to come out of it three years ago. I know it feels impossible when you’ve had it for so long, but it is possible to heal.
You might find the work of ‘dr Joe dispenza’ helpful, especially his book ‘you are the placebo’.
Hope you’re doing well, lots of love 💗💕
I have PTSD, too and you are right! Grandmom Gina has given me a reason to get up and do something in the kitchen and it feels so good!
You are the sweetest lady on "you tube"..you make people smile. I love to watch you cook. Such a treasure !!! Thank you for allowing us in your kitchen!!!

Gina bella!! When my mother passed away I inherited her cavatelli maker but I never used it because I didn’t know how to make the cavatelli. Now thanks to you, I know how to make the dough and I can use the cavatelli maker. I can’t wait to make them 😋😋😋😋! I love your cooking shows and the recipes you share with all of us. Oh and your singing brings me to tears. I especially love the song you sang today. It was beautiful👍👏👏👏God bless you Gina bella🙏🙋🏻❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️

I have watched many many CZcams videos over the years learning how to cook new things or improve. Hands down, Gina is my VERY FAVORITE. She is fantastic with her skills and knowledge. Her recipes are incredible and loved by all who eat anything she shows me. I just love and adore her. She is precious, wonderful and so full of love and wonder! Now my kids, grandkids, neighbors and friends love her too!
Her songs, stories and blessings are just priceless. I LOVE HER!!!!
Your videos make me so happy. Yesterday when I was cooking I was trying to be like GrandmaGina. My husband was laughing at me. You are such a Blessing to us.
I think this is the second time I’ve watched this video. I enjoy her so much! I love it when she sings! This is what we need during this challenging time. Love and positivity from Gina!!
I started watching Gina's videos a few months ago. I canned my own tomatoes this year cause of her video's and now am the proud owner of a yellow Atlas pasta machine. Keep them coming Gina! We love you!!
I canned tomatoes too this year thanks to Gina, and everytime I open the jar I say - thank you, Gina
Abfab Hax She is like a hero to many people, in these crazy times. She is a reminder that good will prevail!
When I watched her can the tomatoes I cried,, because I use to help my mother make them the same exact way, I wish we had that tomatoe machine, my dad and I use to grind all the tomatoes!!!!
When I seen the shelves of tomatoes the tears really started, our cellar had the same shelves filled, even after my mom passed the shelves where full, until we started to use them up, and little by little they where gone....the family all moved away and no one was left to carry on the tradition....
We love Nonna Gina!!! We love the intro music, we love her beautiful singing and stories and everything about her!! What an irreplaceable treasure she is!! God bless her and her family!!

Gina, how I wish I had just a fraction of the energy you have would be wonderful! When you knead dough, it always looks like satin. Beautiful! Blessings😀❤
I used to make this with my mother when I was a little boy. The whole trick is the thumb action. My mother made me wash my hands real good before making them.
Thanks for bringing back a beautiful memory.
She impresses me so much. She is the kind of grandmother people think of when you imagine what a grandmother is like.
Wow you made my favorite dish my grandmother made for me 40 year ago. I get teared up watching you. You have blessed me with such wonderful memories. Thank you so much! 💖

I just KNEW Gina was going to be able to "cavat" them two handed! I have been making them for 50 years & still havent mastered that trick. Nona Gina, you are the best!
Dear Gina, thank you for a new recipe! Last week I cooked chicken a la parmigana and baked vegetables and tiramisu (it was made 3 days before) , and all my guests enjoyed the dinner. I told them it was all thanks to a wonderful woman - Gina. So. indeed, you have friends in many places and countries. Thank you once again, thanks to your son-in-law and your daughter who are helping you. Good health to you and your big family!
I can still remember my grandma’s white table cloth covered dining room table opened as far as it would go filled with her fresh cavatelli. Thousands of those tasty little pasta shapes just waiting for Sunday dinner! Gina brings all those wonderful memories back for me. 💕
I love you Grandma Gina!!! I love how you talk about your childhood in Italy. You are such a joy!!!
What a blessing Gina is. Reminds me of my grandmother. We must keep these traditions going in families. Too much of this wisdom and knowledge has been lost in our busy lives today. God bless. 🇮🇹
Gina, I'm an Executive Chef, , and I love watching you cook, . And yes, you've even taught me a few things. If I can make a suggestion, could you please make franchese in one of your videos? I truly love to see how you prepare that! Keep cooking! You bring me joy, it was my grandma that gave me the bug to become a chef.

I get such a warm feeling in my heart watching Gina. Reminds me of my dads side of our family. Such happy times. Ginas a very talented lady. God Bless
I used to make this with my husband and my son when he was little! Brings back memories! My son used to turn the handle of the cavatelli machine and watch it come out! We made it with Ricotta cheese which made them so light! Delicious!!! Thank you Gina for all that you show us how to make. I love your cooking!! You are absolutely wonderful!!
Thank you Grandma Gina for another great dish. And I love you and your wonderful spirit.🥰😘
I am so grateful to have found this channel. I am almost 40 years old now. I was so fortunate to have been able to spend so much time with not only all my grandparents but some of my great grandparents as well. I was so close to them all and learned so much from them. I can pick out parts of my personality that each of them shaped. Listening to and learning from them was no doubt among my best decisions in life. Seems like when i was young many young people dont see the value in learning from our older friends and relatives. Now as an adult it seems that kids are even less interested in things like this. Im very grateful this family for sharing all of this with us on CZcams. I think its so great that her family takes the time to produce these videos. This information is priceless.

Gina, thank you so much, I’m 67 and you bring back such wonderful memories of my own sweet Italian grandma! My father’s family immigrated from Sicily in the early 1900’s. He was one of 9 children growing up during the depression. Sunday’s and holidays were always spent at grandma’s , boy what a madhouse with all those cousins. She had such patience with us. I’m definitely going to try this recipe. I had been searching for a cavatelli recipe to try out my cavatelli machine I found at the second hand store and what a surprise when I found your recipe. Thanks again, your family is truly blessed to have you. God bless!
What a wonderful way to archive family history and recipes . Thank you Nonna Gina for sharing your love of family and family cooking with the rest of us. You are such a treasure.
Gina, I can't begin I tell you how much joy you bring me! I realized that the whole time I watch your channel, I am smiling...and when you sing, it warms my heart. Thank you so much, you are an Angel on earth. God bless you.
What a great day-----that's any day when there is a video from Nonna Gina! You brought back so many memories of 55-60 years ago, when I was a little girl, and I would sit and watch my Nonna Immacolata make the cavatelli !!! And I would get so excited when she would let me put my little hands in the well, to bring the eggs and flour together! I used to run away though, when it was time to shape the thousands of cavatelli ! I hated that job. Today we got the extra treat of you singing, and also of speaking a little Italian! Per piacere, please make one video where you speak completely in Italian!! And it never fails, never do you make a video where I don't cry-------but they are always happy tears of happy memories! Grazie Nonna Gina!
That was my great grandmother’s name too ❤️
You know she does it as an art form, lots of practice, she makes it with ease. Beautiful !! 💕 💕 My grandmother was Italian now I'm the grandma 7 times, bless you Gina
I watch from Indiana but I'm from NJ.
Gina brings back a lot of memories for me from my childhood, I learned from my mother and grandfather, they use to cook for the Sunday dinner's , if your not from an Italian family you wouldn't know the joy of the real Italian dinners. We had anywhere from
10 to 12 course dinners, it took 2 days to ,.prepair the food, and my Poppy was very adamant
that you attended Sunday dinner, to the point that if you did not show up on Sunday you where removed from the Will on Monday morning, this is the truth so help me God!
I enjoy her videos when she sings, because my Poppy use to sing some of the same songs.... I miss the old days, but now with Gina, I can remember the good old days of my youth.. Thank you Gina, and your Son in law for the video's , God Bless You All.
I remember making these with my Nonni...such beautiful memories! The store ones are just not the same (they were so dense like eating bullets, my Dad said!) but now, I’ll make from scratch. Thank you so much for these precious recipes...many of my Nonni’s recipes were never written down, so bless you, Gina! Keep singing & speaking Italian....you always bring big smiles to my face ❣️
I've been watching Gina for a few months. She's always reminded me of my great grandma. Then today, I heard her say Faeto! That's where she and my great grandpa where born. Altieri was my maiden name.
My mother in law was named Antonietta Altieri. My father in law was named Angelo Petitti. My maiden name was Spinelli. Do you know your great grandma's maiden name? I would not be surprised to know we are somehow related:)
@@BuonAPetitti I had to go find their marriage certificate from 1915 here in Ohio to double check everyone's names. My great grandpa's full name Nicolino Angelo Anthony Altieri. His parents were Raphael and Donata (Paria). My great grandma's name was Antonetta Prospera Castielli. Her parents were Joseph and Castanza (Perrini). I can't wait to hear back from you to see if we are family! 🥰
Altieri, Castielli, Parrini are all names I remember from Faeto. The Altieri family is part of my husbands family. As I mentioned my mother in law was an Altieri. The Altieri's of my generations have moved to other areas of Italy. I'm sure if we go back a couple of generations we will find our families are distant cousins. You will find many from Faeto over the generations have moved all over the world. Life was difficult in Faeto so they went out in search of a better life. Thank you for watching. God Bless you and your family.

I love the traditional demo so much, but I appreciate the demo using the machine since that is the method I will use. Her singing is sublime, especially since I can't sing to save my life. Her joy when she sings is contagious. I've got to also say that the final dish is to die for! My mouth was watering while watching her eat it. Gina isn't kidding about being loved all over the world for very good and very obvious reasons. What a treasure!
Gina, your friends all over the world might love you as much as I do but none love you MORE! You are a beautiful blessing to all. Love from North Idaho, USA.
So heartwarming to hear her talk Italian to her family.
My favorite! I used to ask my grandma for theese all the time. Grandma called them gavadeels too! The kids said cavadils. We all sat around the big wooden cutting board just
Like yours and the kids were given a fork to roll them off and it was a race to see who could sweep the biggest batch to the middle. Love your videos!!!
I can’t thank you enough for sharing these priceless videos. I tell people that she makes my soul smile. There’s a love contained within her that is a treasure. The recipes are the kind that grandmothers never write down. Watching her is a life lesson, and makes me feel like I’m spending time with my own grandmother who passed away a few years ago. I miss her dearly, but the love shown here is so similar! I tear up sometimes because it’s so comforting. These are the kinds of lessons that I hope to share with my children and their children some day. Thank you and your family so much for sharing her videos. She’s a true blessing! 🙏🏻

Great video and thanks for bringing back memories. I remember making these with my grandmother when I was little. We also called them gavadeels too! I thought no one but my family knew that word, everyone else thinks it's gnocci.
Tim Kline my mom made these and I still have her machine
Yep! Gavadeels! Us kids said cavadils. We all gathered around to make them. The adults used their fingers and the kids got a fork to roll them off to make it easier.
Grandma Gina: that was brilliant. To use the machine to roll and cut fat “fettuccine” that you can then cut the fat strips into pieces to make the small pasta. I love it. Brava.
Grandma Gina. You make me happy when you sing while you work. Everybody should sing while they cook. Makes food taste even better ! Thank you so much. Much love to you and your Family.
