I love this song. It has a perfect dreary melancholy feel to it, and Ian’s singing tops it off. One of my favorite Sabbath tracks. Such a good album. Wish Ian did more with Sabbath.
Couldn’t agree more. Quite possibly Ian’s best vocal performance since ‘Child in Time’. Incredible heavy thunderous song.

@@johnherne8489 Not sure but sounds to me like a ‘tempted by the devil’…, ‘sell your soul’ type message. Lyrics go something like.., “If you wanna live like a king for a day…, do what I say..”. I’m also hearing references to the loneliness surrounding the protagonist after selling his soul all for that ‘one day deal’…, or maybe the devil himself explaining his loneliness and the need for companionship..; “Look at this prince of evil…, sitting alone.., dark room…, by the window..”, waiting for someone-anyone. The ‘Born Again’ could either be the devil’s sales pitch…, or perhaps final redemption of the victim. Lol, not really sure but that’s what I’m getting. Obviously it’s up for some personal interpretation. Through the years a lot of Gillian lyrics have been nothing more than rhyming and word salad to fit the song (he’s one of the best). But on this song I really think he nailed some very well thought out lyrics. There’s definitely a story somewhere in there…, just a little vague. Definitely one of my favorite Sabbath songs of all time✌️👍

Man, I just can't get enough of this song! Ian's voice is so perfect here.
Yeah you can actually hear (and feel) Gillan quite possibly tossing the rest of his career away.., putting every last breath he’s got onto the tape just to do the song the justice he knew it deserved. It’s truly a gift to us the fans. He’s a Rock and Roll Superhero. A legend.
My only wish is that the outro solo went on longer. For, say, four hours lol. That solo has been in my mind for 40 years. Just so haunting, contemplative, and ethereal.

@@l.salisbury1253 Isn't the version shown in the video a remix? I remember that by remix Tony meant slight tweaks in balance of multitracks. And I hear that this one sounds cleaner than 2004 or 1983 editions.

One of the best Ian Gillan performances ever. I dare to say that it's the last time the "classic 70s sounding Ian Gillan" was recorded. Don't get me wrong, I love his post-84 and recent work, but this album and song marked the end of an era for me !
He gave everything he had. His last heavy shots. Amazing. Outstanding.

This album is an evil masterpiece and one of my top favorite Black Sabbath albums ever
It has this Evil feel, but if you really listen to the lyrics to every song on this record, You get a sense of true hope and inner peace. To me, that is what makes this album so special. Even Disturbing the Priest, as evil as that sounds, is a strong message about those who you love and trust and to watch your back with people you meet. If you can't have a sense of humor, then you totally miss the concept of this album, I think. The record cover is a total play on words but very symbolic of this particular line up of the band. I can go on. But it's simply an all-out masterpiece of an album.

Thematically the lyrics are in line with previous material. Is it time to rise challenge and kill yet? Maybe soon. The album cover has now permanently cemented itself into our memories and it's perfect. Deep love for this record it came out when I was young and impressionable. ✌️☮️🤘🤘

I Love this song. So dark & haunting. I absolutely LOVE the guitar solo that ends the song. My only disappointment is that it's TOO SHORT. I wish that solo went on for another 10 minutes. Too bad they never recorded an extended mix of the song where the guitar solo at the end was much longer. Maybe when the new remixed version comes out, Tony can use a different take where the solo is extended as a bonus track.

I always pair this song with UFO’s “You and Me” for some odd reason. Both songs in the same key. Same feel and mood. Lyrical topics maybe a bit different. Both songs came out the same year.

Again I am biased toward the demo version, but also like Trashed I've never really been picky about any mix ive heard of this song, but again Ive never heard the original 83 mix. I felt the demo was perfect as was, but then there was the flute overdub later that wasn't on there! So I was curious about that! It's easier to hear the flute on here more then ever, but it';s hard for it to get it to stand out with heavy guitar, isn;t it? My only suggestion is to maybe play it again if you actually fing feel like it! Ian will never be able to sing like this again, but last I checked you hadn't lost your flute abilities. Food for thought if nothing else works. I miss the echo that was there before during the slidey licks at the end. Overall as far as the actual mixes go, this is probably the best overall one. It's not perfect but it;s really close. I was so happy in the earlier 2020s when I heard you'd finally found the tapes! THANK GOD! Born Again is my favorite Sabbath album ever, but it;s also been through so many periodic treatments over the years! I can see every little detail and I follow the history religiously. Did the song Death Warmed Up ever get found?
