Tony Martin was totally underrated as a vocalist in Black Sabbath. I'm glad people are starting to recognise that now . His vocal range was brillant .
Not only range - Ozzy Osbourne also had range, but Tony Martin has great technique and a very pleasant tone.

@@Thegamer10113 he's just being humble. Don't you hear that he gets into the rhythm, hits the right notes, has a good range, knows how to mix clean and drive, knows how to make nice transitions from chest to head voice, sings melismas correctly and just has a pleasant timbre.
Inamorata by metallica might have been inspired or have the same vibe by this song.... And it can be covered by Alice in chains...

Tony Martin's masterpiece! Hands down his greatest contribution to music lyrically and vocally. The raw emotional impact of everything this song is still gets me today as when I first heard it. The world needs more Iommi/Martin!

They were shadow dropped.
Due to the lawsuit the Osbournes filed against Tony for the Sabbath name back in 2007 anything "Black Sabbath" is officially the original four members. That's why all of this is on Iommi's YT and not the official Sabbath page.
@@DarksaberForce Tony Iommi and Ozzy Osborne settled out of court mutual agreement on the name Black Sabbath 50/50 co- owners in the agreement it takes 3 original members to participate for any new material to be released under the Black Sabbath name. This song is on the Black Sabbath page also as it isn't new material.

Absolutely incredible song. I have loved this masterpiece since I first heard it in 1989. On first listen "When Death Calls" kind of reminded me of a modern song in the fashion of "Children Of The Sea" where the title track "Headless Cross" was more like a "Heaven And Hell" style song. Some of the other tracks don't remind me of anything previous but I have always loved this whole album straight through. Hails and blessings eternal to Tony Iommi, a lifelong hero.

I haven't even listened to a Sabbath album since the Dio era, so I missed the whole Tony Martin era, which makes it good that this box set came out because I find him quite good. Very Dio sounding but with more low end because he's not a dwarf.

I can't stand the Sabbath fans who want them to play the first album over and over. Very few complained about the last Sabbath tour lists which were 80% from just the first three albums. And 5% from 13. They don't even care about the Ozzy era!

Great haunting track.Nice harmonics on bass by Laurence Cottle,very difficult to play live,only Neil Murray could reproduce it.Loved especially the fast section.Guitar solo was just OK for me.Wonder why Tony didn't play the solo?
