    I just returned. All I really needed were 1 pair black jeans, 1 blue, 3 lt merino or cashmere wool sweaters, 1 fancier black turtleneck and 34 degree heat base layers. Everyone was wearing black and lug sole booties. All the cute outfits I saw on Instagram were nonexistent! If I wore the same outfit every day not a soul would have noticed. It only rained 1 out of our 7 days. I did pick up a vintage Dior trench but my black leather 3/4 coat was perfect.

      Might have been the areas you were in! Style varies across different parts of London. Yes no one notices anything about you in London we're all doing our own thing ;) Thanks for watching Jill and congrats on the vintage score, well done!

    We get very good weather generally in London in the summer months. So if you are coming here over summer don't worry to much about rain. Yes it is wise to pack a pocket umbrella and a waterproof jacket. However, don't go thinking that you need to pack a wetsuit and snorkel because it may rain for 40 days and 40 nights lol

    My fashion-forward bestie in London wears sweatshirts all the time. It's more the mode of sweatshirt...neutral/black, and little or no writing on it. It's not the time to break out your university logo, but you can wear them if they are fashion-forward.

      Hi! Thank you for nice video! I'm planning to visit London this winter and I heard that it would be tricky to pack all the coats and jumpers since it's too bulky. So I'm planning to take only one jumper and coat and I wonder if it looks weird to wear long padding jacket(coat) in London. If it does, what kind of jacket would be appropriate? :)

      The best thing to do is check the weather forecast before you come. I would recommend checking the BBC Weather site, enter London in the search box and remember the temperature will be in Celsius unless you change it. Tomorrow they predict a high of 7’C to a night time low of 2’C which is fairly common, but we do get cold and frost and it can stay below 4’C or even 0’C all day on occasion. If it’s windy or raining it’ll feel colder. A long padded jacket might be too warm. You might want to consider a good water proof coat that comes down past your bottom and is big enough to get layers under. Bring gloves and a warm hat, you can bring a compact umbrella if you are the kind of person who uses them, personally I just use the hood on my coat, wearing a cap under it keeps the water off your face. You can’t beat a good undershirt (Brits call them vests) to keep you warm.

    Firstly, I love your videos! I'm traveling to London during February 2017 (First Timer). There are no videos out for this month on what to do, pack, etc. because it's the extreme off season month. Can you make a video or give me some tips?!? I'm super desperate!! Thanks!

      Thanks so much Shanna!! :) Most of what I said will apply to your visit in the winter, and also, next week's video will help you out! In the meantime, if you have any specific questions, you can ask them here and I'll be happy to answer :) This might help as well : czcams.com/video/MB4lO3L_S3E/video.html

    Great, super helpful tips! I'll be in London in August-September and my mind is bursting with questions: ¿umbrella and or water proof jacket? ¿what other kind of jacket would you suggest that's not leather? (is hard to carry it in the purse when gets hot)... greeting from Mexico. Also would be nice a video about purchasing train tickets for day trips around London, so many things to consider and a lot of options to pick from. Thanks.

    • @loveandlondon
      @loveandlondon  Před 8 lety

      Hi! Sorry for the late reply on this. Up to you on the umbrella/jacket situation, it's just your preference! You can get a rain jacket (super waterproof) or really any type of jacket that won't soak up the water but will repell it. Good idea about day trips, I will put it on the list!

      Thank you, and now that I come up with ideas I have one more, since I hate traditional souvenirs that are expensive and very general I would really like to know, what would you suggest for us tourist to bring back home that isn't a Big Ben paperweight?...

    • @spencerwilton8876
      @spencerwilton8876 Před 8 lety +3

      +Lilyzul hope you have a great visit here! There are loads of places selling tourist tat as you describe, but thankfully so many better options. Something traditionally british always goes down well as a gift, especially if it comes from a famous London institution. fortnum and mason do really nice teas, marmalade, biscuits etc in nice packaging and not too expensive. It's easy to find too, a short walk from Piccadilly Circus or Green park underground stations. Liberty do wonderful fabrics in famous liberty print- typically floral designs- perhaps a scarf for a female friend? Although these will cost substantially more.

    • @Lilyzul
      @Lilyzul Před 8 lety

      +Spencer Wilton thank you! Actually Fortnum and mason sounds amazing and I also checked marks & spencer and found very interesting options, and why not?! I might bring a Big Ben paper weight 😂

    Should I purchase a straightener in London or buy a convertible adapter for my US straightener? Also what is a good drugstore? Thanks :) xx

    • @loveandlondon
      @loveandlondon  Před 8 lety +2

      Hi Nicole! If you have one that is dual voltage, you can use that one here with just an adapter (not a converter). If you don't, you can definitely pick one up here, stop at SuperDrug or Boots and they start at £10-£15.

    Hi, I am a new subscriber from Brooklyn, New York. I landed an internship in London from June 29th to the last day of August. I like that you covered the social aspect, but in terms of the professional aspect, would a button down shirt, pants, and shoes be enough? Should I bring a coat?
    I'm also going to check out your budgeting blog, since that's my other concern.

      Hey Mueed, it completely depends on the office you'll be working in, so I would ask your internship provider what the dress code is. Good luck!

    OMG thanks for this video. i'm going to England, Ireland, and Scotland in summer of 2018 and I hate looking like a clueless American Tourist (though this is my first time to Europe!)
    Question: my boyfriend is 32 but still loves cargo shorts. Is he going to stick out too badly if he wears them with a polo shirt?
    Also: I'm from florida, so I'm likely going to be freezing. My favorite knitted sweater has a huge picture of a badger on it. (Yes, it's a Hufflepuff sweater) is that going to be okay, or would a more traditional knit like a fair isle or irish fisherman knit be more in-line with what locals wear? I am 30.

    • @loveandlondon
      @loveandlondon  Před 6 lety +1

      Hey! In the end, wear what you're most comfortable with and what you have. FIY -- cargo shorts aren't very big here and all types of sweaters are worn here :)
