Great game of footy to watch overall. Full credit to the blues, they were the more attacking and braver side throughout the game and were managed to survive a late fight back from the cats.

umpiring was awful for both teams, I agree Carlton got a lot more frees but in the 3rd quarter Geelong got 3 frees in the centre and kicked three goals, without those frees the could of lost by a lot more.
but the free kicks were there, not like Jesse Motlop's and arguably Harry McKay's which resulted in 2 goals. But Carlton deserved to win anyways Geelong were as bad as I've ever seen them

I' sure the cats got a couple soft ones and they defeninently got away with some, Mckay near the end of the game is clearly held away from Contesting the ball but play on is called. Swings in round abouts.

And defenders are allowed to have their arms around the body of a forward like that because he is not actually holding him back and his arms were free to mark the ball. It's a contact sport and literally happens in every marking contest. There were so many soft free kicks that weren't there at all or hardly there, I only listed 2 from this video. And there were a couple missed calls for Carlton but overall a 9 free kick differential, 2 more 50 metre penalties and then free kicks in front of goal compared to the piss weak free kicks Geelong received in the backline which seemed like an effort to even up the free kick count definitely changed the outcome of the game despite how bad the cats were
Geelong tackled badly, a lot of push in the backs. Early on they were second to the ball and that's what happens.

Under the so called new "Potential to cause injury" rule the AFL has made up last week, how many weeks will Hawkins get for high contact on Weitering? The "Potential to cause injury" of blinding a player (Forced to leave the ground). 3 to 5 weeks seems fitting for potentially blinding the poor guy... /sarcasm.

@Donkey Kong The AFL will never take ALL the footy away from free-to-air TV no matter how bad commentators get. There are a lot of people who simply can't afford to pay for a subscription service and many who don't on principle alone.
I've got Netflix, Amazon, Paramount, Stan and Disney but will never pay for FOX sports just to watch football.
@Donkey Kong it will be interesting to see how that works out for them... Here in SA, for example, if Crows and Power fans can't get to watch every game that both teams play on free-to-air TV then I can see the AFL copping a huge backlash from it. I imagine it would be the same in WA, Qld and NSW too for their own local teams.

Yeah some decisions were a bit biased, thats what AFL umpires do and have been doing for a very long time. Cameron kept the cats in the game. Carlton were easily the better team and deserved to win.
