This is why CZcams is the only thing i watch now, this is pure gold to me, pure gold. Thank you for the videos there top notch, keep up the great the work
used to catch a lot of crab and lobster up here west coast of Scotland and for me brown crab meat is the best by far sit down with a bottle of wine and that crab would be heaven Nice Pollack as well very underrated fish good job on a footnote who the heck would watch your video and dislike it unreal
Eyup Troj. I'll put two fingers in there but not three. That's a big 'un and looks very clean and healthy. I caught one off Weymouth with rod and line that was maybe too big to get into a pot entrance. The claws were way bigger than my hands - we got sandwiches for two out of each claw. A young guy with muscles who was on the boat held it up by both claws and it closed up on him no problem. Love them crabs! Sithi after, Dave.
Just found your videos, and think they're the best. A good informative show of what you are doing, some dialog to explain it, and no blasted music to ruin the whole thing. Wonderful. I'm from the states, and have never seen pots like that. Do you make your own? If so, do you have a video on how to do it?
@@Trojwaterman Awesome! I did my first lobster fishing on a boat this season and we had around 14-15 pots. Only got 3 legal sized lobsters not carrying any rum but prob around 20-30 crabs on that trip
Hi I find your video’s a fascinating insight into inshore fishing. I also would be terrified of those reefs and pinnacle rocks if I didn’t have your knowledge. I wonder how many boats they have claimed over the years? Very enjoyable to watch, even if those rocks were to close for comfort at times. Regards Bill
The rocks around there have claimed many boats / ships over the ages and the speed of the tides can make it treacherous. With smaller boats its not to bad as you can pass over many rocks at certain times and go between them. When you see them on my videos the camera makes them look a lot further away than they really are. If you ever see me move the boat before emptying the pots that often means we are getting dangerously close to the rocks.
thanks for another fantastic vid , im over 6ft like you and now and then my back suffers . Please take the time to look on this video how static your feet are and your back is twisting , us olds uns cant do it forever lol , thankyou im a great fan
I tend to pull mostly with my arms Its hard to explain but some lower discs don't open one side and lock together so Im lifting in a way that causes me least strain and pain.
Troj, when you say 'a brown crab is easier to pick' if some one wants one of your spider crabs, can't they just say ' i think i'll have that one' that way picking is so easy lol mate, really enjoy your videos mate
@@Trojwaterman really nice catch today. How old would a brown crab that size be aprox Troj? i've been thinking about the lobster cut in two, i think you may have the start of some gang land war on your hands sorry mate..... i think Ronnie and Reggie Cray fish are trying to move in on your patch and this is just a little warning!! so take care out there
Here you can put out as many as you like but your not allowed to sell your catch without a licence. When you have a licence there will be restrictions on what you can land.
Such a good variety of fish around the islands, never understood why we used to fly in Grimsby fish every week in the early 70's?. I now live in Newfoundland, the fishing is pretty boring, 95% cod.
some fish are bled yes some are not. If I take fish for myself I dont bleed them as its only to stop the fish from bruising and not looking nice when they are sitting on a slab being sold. I cut my fish up as soon as i get home. I rarely show killing the fish most people would rather not see that.
I don't understand a couple of people have asked me this, don't you see them ?. I am still doing videos every week we have even bought better filming equipment now.
Why don't you put your shell fish in water ... don't the say freasher ??? O know I do and I got lucky and got 15 lobsters with 7 traps none under 4 lbs good luck mate
Wow im lucky if I get 2 or 3 lobsters over 4lb here a year. I do put them in water if its hot or if im out for a long time but only now and again or they will die quicker without an oxygen pump in the bucket. They will go into a store pot or aerated water when I get home.
@@Trojwaterman the biggest one I got this year was 13.5 lbs and what a set of claws 5 ove us just managed to finish it ..a day I'll NEAVER for get I doy fishing at cape cod mass

Not certain 15 20 years the bigger they are the slower they grow
Could you tell me is there a limit to how many pots your allowed to put out? Very interesting video as always.

Wow did the brown taste good?
How has the new rod been performing??
Waiting for some better weather. I have not done any spinning since I have had it but hopefully soon I will try it
I think the holes in the lobsters are dog whelks drilling with their shells
That crab a personal record? Would it be possible to have the shell mounted 'as proof ' you caught it?
Not a pb My Pb was caught 2 years ago 7lb 8oz Its in this video about 2 mins in : czcams.com/video/lNQvZYin8MU/video.html
where is it ? Devon ? I will be grateful for info
A bit further down. Guernsey
Like 6 from me my friend ✔✔🦈🦈
What sort of price can you get for that big crab ?
Probably somewhere in the region of £10 to £20
Plenty of meat on that brown crab Troj, don't know how it fit or got through top hole into pot?..
Keep these vid's coming.. great stuff.

what a conker of a crab as John Wilson would say it's a shame he's not around anymore
Do you ever cook some proper fish & chips ?
If you mean fish deep fried in batter yes sometimes.
How old do you think it is
Not certain 15 20 years maybe
Do you sell your catch
Some of it yes
Are you no longer doing videos as yours was the best ?
I don't understand a couple of people have asked me this, don't you see them ?. I am still doing videos every week we have even bought better filming equipment now.

Once the spiders bugger off end of June your Lobster catch will go up.
We hope but last year many spiders were still here in autumn
