The smash fam is heading for 100k subscribers 🔥 hit the sub button guys! Thanks
I love how you described going into the castle, like you were heading in to forge lol
Can’t wait to see that play button, you deserve it mate, hell ya, woo! 🦞 🦀
Dude...you seem to like these museum things which are neat, but cooking store bought food just isn't your channel. What I'd suggest is mitigating this by doing a catch and cook one day, the museum another, and making them one video. Look up what these soldiers were eating seafood wise at the time and specifically do the catch and cook part how they would have eaten. That would be a neat Towsends bent to the occasional episode.
It’s neat... but any boardwalks where kids can ride things while adults do other.

Smash shows us buckets asking:
- Anyone know what these are used for?
Me:
- For foraging!!!
Thanks for these videos besides being a fisherman, I’m a huge history lover. Love when you do these. Plus it’s cool to see how beautiful it is in Guernsey, your a lucky Guy.
That’s good to know mate a lot of people have been asking for a history vlog so I thought I’d make one as I learn a lot from it to haha , thanks for watching
I love that little bbq 😂
Just beautiful 😍
@@hasmeadali7316 I know right.
This was the coolest!!! I am always so blown away by everything you post about Guernsey. It , bc of you, is now a bucket list destination that I am dying to see. TY Jay. Have the best day!!!!! Blessings for ya.
Love the tour, Smash👍🏻
Smash Tours Guernsey🙌🏻😆
I was a bit nervous watching you bbq on dry grass! 🔥😂🤷🏻♀️ Looked delish though.
Hope you and the fam is well.
Be safe🙏🏻
Haha thanks skyquake! I wet the grass lol you can see we’re the coals are on the floor I wet everything lol thanks for watching
The buckets were fire buckets and used for all kinds of things, Cannons get hot and need to be cooled down so they don't explode when re-loading, also the risk of fire in a castle would be great, especially where you stored your own ammunition. As for the types of cannons, we British name our guns on the weight of the projectile, you saw the traversing carriage is a 24 pounder, meaning the cannon shell would be 24lb in weight... other guns range in various sizes, 12pdr, 9pdr etc etc.
Castle Cornet is an amazing place, I visited in 2019 when in Guernsey for a long weekend and spent half a day there, but could easily spend all day there... also saw a local re-enactment group tell a story about the Guernsey Martyrs, three women burned at the stake for their religion, one of which actually gave birth while on fire!
The buckets were filled with sand to extinguish any hot bits of wick or lighters from firing the cannons.
Ah very interesting! Thanks for the information
@@SMASHFISHING welcome! Thanks for the video👍
Back in the 13th century you didn't have fire hoses, but you did have what they called bucket brigades in case of fire.
I love these Guernsey vlog tours! But that little BBQ is a grass fire waiting to happen lol :)
Great video Jay you had my mouth watering cooking up they skewers & oysters with garlic butter 🦐🦀🦞🦑😁😁
Every time you do a history tour, my kids start grilling me. I'm not a history buff, but do like learning about it. So first history then hungry, thanks...
the castle was really cool, cheers for sharing that. That cook up was amazing, that is living the dream! You have had the meal of champions! Well done! Cheers for sharing , stay Safe!
The red buckets where used to cool down the big guns so soldiers don't gets burns when loading
They might be for fires from opponents shelling the fort and creating fires.
From the high vantage point in the castle, it looks like there could be some good fishing below!
It’s great fishing at the back of the castle but just got to watch the tides
Very nice of you to always be thinking about your friends and family when it comes to what you catch and buy.
They shoot that shitting gun every day and THEY STILL DID'NT HIT BUGGER ALL
So true 😂
My wife is laughing at me 'cos I'm sat here drooling! 😛
I miss the seaside & this is brilliant 🤗
that was awesome mate well enjoyed that cracking video .. A lovely castle fortress and some fresh cook up for good measure ...already waiting for the next one
Smash eating better than a king. Proper food
Awesome video smash love stuff like this wish you would do more. TOP JOB
By far one of my favourite channels on CZcams 👍
Another great video, fab to see the kayak in the background, when do you think we will see it on the water ? Cant wait.
sooo nearly 100k subs👌👍🎣🤙🤙
Always awsome to see a new smash fishing video, makes my day.!!
Very nice love the tour and the new cook!😄👍
Castle cornet where all the smart cars park😁 that little black & yellow sportier one oi oi!
The red buckets are fire buckets usually filled with sand.
I always wanted to see the inside of Castle Cornet. I've made a pest of myself on some livestreams asking the locals about it.It really looks cool at night with the lights on.Green with envy over their firearm collection. I remember that they had to swab the barrels out of those big black powder cannons to prevent fouling. I wonder if that's what those buckets are for.Just a guess.I always love to see the local shops in Guernsey as well.If I make it to Guernsey ,I'll know where to go.We have fire baby.LOL! Thanks for the look see.
Haha thanks mate I’m glad you enjoyed the video
Blimey..... someone's yacht just got cannon balled.. 😁
Guernsey 63.1k population. Subscribers 98.2k. Impressive. Love the videos. Keep up the good work!

Thanks, Jay! Love the historic tours. Very interesting! The views from the castle were awesome. I am impressed with how well it is maintained.
Wow, that looks delicious! Thanks for sharing. Well, the video anyways. 😉🤣👍🏻
Great food and history! Thanks
cracking video mate, enjoyed that one..
Absolutely amazing video brilliant thanks 😊
Thanks tommy
Let’s Go Smash!
Guernsey really does know how to preserve its military history. Really interesting jay. Normally I would be drooling over those prawns but after food poisoning last week from them I had to look away 🤢👍. Lovely present from the sub
Great video smash keep up the good work harry 👍👍👍🇬🇬
I really loved this one Jay! Thank you for the history tour!!!! The cook up wasn't bad either;) Love the vids man, so glad I found your channel. Ten thumbs up if I could!
The Citadel in Halifax has a noon day Canon !
A gorgeous meal. Your oysters sound quite expensive, at my local fishmongers they are 6 for £4.00 and I live in the middle of England and not right on the coast like you do.
Glad you enjoyed the vouchers fella 😊 thoroughly deserved. I’ve never really been into fishing or foraging but you’ve definitely inspired me.... so much so we got cheap rods, crab/lobster pot 😂😂 that foraging is hard for first timers.... you make it look easy!!!
Thank you very much ! That was very kind of you , haha it’s great fun getting out , but yes it’s hard work finding things but very rewarding when you do haha
Well, what a lovely place. The museum was amazing 🤩 The kebabs were supernatural baby! Well done 👏 Good luck 😉
Thanks Greg
All the times I’ve seen that castle in the background of your videos it was amazing to see it from the interior. That was very kind of that person to leave you those certificates. Loved this video guernsey has such a rich history.👍🇨🇦
All the best form Sunderland jay good stuff mate

Off to Scotland 🏴 next week armed with crab wheels

Great vid mate keep 'em coming I did a tour of Castle Cornet 23 years ago it is a very interesting place and also you have an enormous range of history on the whole island which is really great but them prawns and scallops beat all that :) thanks for the vid Jay
Smash fishing woooo!!!
Guernsey? I thought it was Monte Carlo for a second.
Smash baby yeah
need a glass of chilled white wine
Guernsey has a lot of starforts. Interesting.
👍 nice good video. What life was about at the time. Life now is good.
Yeah back to the travelog. 😍😍
Horses would pull those stones on carts to build that castle & the walls... brilliant ...
It’s crazy how much granite is used back then
Do I live your channel or what ? Lol. My favorites are when you go for crabs lobsters or clams. I am an old lady but I love to see you guys go.
Hell yeah, woo!
not even seen the vid i click like in one sec history i love it :)
Haha legend
Happy days
is it just me or like I load on to CZcams I search something and all a see is smash fishing like 100 times
It shows you watch a lot 🔥 legend
I'd rather be watching something worth the information about gathering food then all the other crap going in the world. It's fun to watch and interesting stuff to see what all different things are out in the sea to catch and different ways of cooking them.
@@SMASHFISHING I watched all your video 's and go back and re-watch them just in case I missed something the first time around. And love learning new things in life. That's the only way to get more information about catching things and learning the rules and laws on certain sea foods. Keep up the great work. 👍
@@SMASHFISHING I get out off bed and watch your vids
Interesting history lesson
That beast is called a Lewis gun
That is the cutest, miniature b.b.q.
Nice snack! 👍👍
That massive machine gun is called a Lewis gun It fired 500 to 600 rounds per minute
Fire Brigade buckets. No fire hoses back then.
Always nice to see your islands history jay, tasty looking sea food at the end as well, keep them coming pal
Thanks Paul
Like I told before Surf and Turf .,Jason is my Nephew and God son. He has done well for himself. Excellent video Jay. I hope to come over on July 17th for a week so looking forward to the family catch ups. Take care mate.
He’s a legend Collin , he gave a great deal on the seafood I got this day , very kind man 🔥
Can you dive there? If so you should make a video of it
Super beaux merci 👍
good job smash
That beast is a Lewis Gun. It was used in both WWI and WWII.
That peashooter was not fun to be shot by. Even for its small size, it would be used more like a sub machine gun than a pistol.
I don’t know anything about cannons. But I know guns. Well at least WWII guns.
the buckets are fire buckets
Great video Smash remember that cannon going off when we visited the castle
Definitely worth watching 🔥
How do I join your membership? Loving your merch I got for Christmas, hoodie and shirt. Both made of nice fabric unlike the concert Ts
Woohoo!
Put on head and wait They are coming! Some times a hammer can be used to get the right tone that calls them by using your body to come and give you some device to see lobsters in size. Then it’s up to you to get them. Glad others don’t know. Abalone and Spider crabs they can’t help with them or can they?
Lovin life !! 😎😋
reminds me of alcatraz
Sand for fire buckets ❤️
where did you get that bbq from? its right cool.....
