Fighting hockey is a pressure release valve, the game is a physical fast paced game played in an enclosed area, emotions run high and fighting is a way for players to police the game themselves. The only other sport played in a similar fashion to hockey (box lacrosse) has almost identical rules To put it simply, every player has a potential weapon on their feet and in their hands, and weve seen the stick be used before, fighting in hockey seldom leads to injuries worse than broken hands or broken noses, if players didnt have the option to fight youd see a lot more Simon and McSorely incidents
back in the 80s you were guaranteed a few of these every game, along with line scrums and multiple fights and whole teams on the ice fighting. It was called a Bench clearing brawl. Also bone crunching checks and people carried out on stretchers , It was almost a show like wrestling. But real. So exciting I didn't miss a game for 20 years.
Delauriers holding on for dear life. That's why there is so much dancing around before the first punch is ever thrown. The initial jersey grab and hold is what so many of the fights are dependent on now. Too bad the jersies are tearaways. That way fights would go back to being just that, actual fights.
Lol if you ever fight anyone on skates with big, long sleeved jerseys then you would probably quickly realize why virtually all hockey fights ever feature guys holding on to each others jerseys
@@goodsolonius7305 They hold on to the sleeves to keep him from punching you in the face. He is right, there are no more good fights . As soon as he lost his helmet the Linesmen were jumping in ! How pitiful, No one can get hurt. If you will watch real hockey fights you will see there is little holding on and grabbing, but some great slug fests. Nystrom vs Bridgeman. Witt vs Kordic. Jonathan vs Bouchard. Miller vs Churla. Byers vs Carkner - Quebec. Wilson vs Wensink. Berube vs Poesheck. 02-14-97 Give these a try.
@@goodsolonius7305 I didn't care for Laraque, His fights were clutch and grab, The greatest fighters for Montreal were Nilan and Kordic of the 80s. They had other tough guys also, like Corson. But now I see Bettman has agreed to have the NHL go WOKE. So after 45 years I may not be watching hockey anymore.
These two are great dance partners.
Both very tough guys, in a great long scrap. Pretty even, I'd say.
Gotta give the slight edge to Deslauriers imo. 2:19 proves it for me, fight of the year, maybe in a few years tbh.
Holy Jumpin is right!!
Серьёзный бой
BIG BOYSSS
I so wish the NHL would go back to white at home
100% agreed or at least do 40 away white 40 away dark
Did any punch land?
Did you not watch till the end 😂
Love DLO
I don’t understand hockey at all lmao why do the refs just watch them punch each other? Seems like this is legit part of the game.
It is haha
It is. Kurtis MacDermid was brought onto Colorado to do EXACTLY this.

OH BOY THE DEVILS GOT A MONSTER
At least we’ll have something to look forward to these upcoming games 😔
@Angel.Eyes_ macdermid could've definitely taken the ref that held him back from ruining Rempes life tonight
wait I thought hockey fighting was just a silly minigame in a single NES video game called Blades of Steel. It's an official referee'd thing??
yessir

@@47tooter yeah the nhl enforcer role pretty much immediately died 10 years ago when Montreal cut Laraque for no reason

Macdermid is a scary dude. Taking Reaves down and now Deslauriers.
Definitely a monster, but he did not win this fight.
Deslauriers got the better of this one, MacDermid got the better of others.
helluva scrap
