Penn laughing in the whole video is the best
He's a good sport.
He knows how true it is so he can't protest, just laugh.
The laugh track definitely got me
As an adult with ADHD, I related way too much with this video. I’m also getting ready for Thanksgiving company and so far I have deep organized our junk drawer, cleaned under the kitchen sink, and organized the pantry. The important things. Have I mopped? Dusted? Cleaned the toilet? Nope. I meant to yesterday and ended up in the pantry 🤷🏼♀️
I am getting ready for company too and I’ve decluttered the cupboards behind our bar, our game shelves and washed blankets!
When I was expecting two friends who were staying for 5 days, I individually hand washed each shower curtain hook, yet neglected to sweep or wash the floors!
Me too!
💯
OMG! All these years I thought I was the only wife experiencing this kind of ‘help’ from her husband when prepping for guests😂 My husband is always so proud that the lawn looks great, or the cars are washed, or the basement is clean, or he finally glued that thing he had been meaning to glue forever…you know, all the important things that guests really care about when coming for a holiday dinner!
You guys are hilarious!
Have a great Thanksgiving!
Let's remember the once-a-year PinSol floor cleaning so the house smells like medicine and he can say he mopped the floor! I have to hide the chemicals when we have guests scheduled to come over.
Lol truth
I can hear Penn's voice saying all that 😂😂😂
He probably has at one point or another.
My oldest just got diagnosed this past year for ADHD. After 46 years, pretty much confirmed that I had it. Then I watched your videos, definitely got it. So cool how you humanize it and make it entertaining. Not always entertaining IRL 😂
This is very common, ADHD is hereditary. Also, 40% of women with ADHD also have PMDD.

You're not alone, I promise you. I'm 46 mom, and all 3 of my kids have ADHD. I myself have become an ADHD coach.
ADHD is a made up bullshit condition created to make you woke middle class losers feel better about being arseholes or that your kids are arseholes. Stop blaming an imaginary disease and sort yourself out ffs
❤
There is no such thing as ADHD.
It's one of many invented "syndromes" that the pharmaceutical-industrial complex has invented to sell more drugs to people who don't need them.
Human beings are all very different. We all have different brains. That is a good thing. Not being able to sit and do mundane tasks for hours on end is not "abnormal." In fact, it's totally normal. People who CAN are abnormal.
Everyone in the world thinks they have ADHD. It is ridiculous and bad for society.
I love Kim doing this for once. Penn is epic great at it but he does it all the time. Shine Kim, you rocked it.
Oh man, my husband will choose the dumbest projects when we clean up. Ok, I kind of do too. Why is that? I always avoid what is most needed now. So funny Kim😂
100% my husband. We have ten minutes before someone arrives, must do a quick run through of the important areas… walk in to see my husband organizing mittens or moving all the furniture to clean under them
Omg “organizing the mittens” had me belly laughing! 🤣
My parents came over for an early Thanksgiving yesterday and I cleaned our trash cans. Not just taking out the trash, but actually wiping down the inside and outside of the trash cans. In my defense, I had already done most of the important cleaning. 😄
Hey that’s a thing a lot of people don’t do often enough but that really helps cut down on sudden/surprise smells
Hosting is a wonderful motivation to do extra cleaning like that!
Thought I was the only one who did that haha.
Love hearing Penn chuckling in the background. 😂
My husband doesn’t have ADHD but I totally relate to the way he prioritizes what needs to be done before company is coming. We were having a 90th birthday at our house with 75 guest coming over and he decided it was the perfect time to clean out the gutters an HOUR before the party. Your videos are awesome! They’re funny because they’re true!
I thought my husband was the only one who cleaned weird stuff when his family was about to visit! All of a sudden he’d make the bed, which we don’t usually do since we’re lazy that way, as if his family would be coming upstairs to inspect, or he’d clean the garage. I was always left to do the stuff his family would see, like the bathroom, the kitchen, the main living area!
My husband did a beautiful job on our sizable yard..but going down the rabbit hole of trimming every little thing when we're expecting people in a couple of hours!
I used to tease him about precision gardening with dental tools!
L😂L!!!
My dad mops the garage floor when company comes 😂
We need to see Penn doing Kim getting ready for company
It would be me cleaning out closets mostly.
@@holdernessfamilylaughs still worth the watch
You forgot when the company pulls up in the driveway it's time to take a shower, leaving you running around with the last minute touches while you patiently entertain your guests!!!! That's my favorite one of all...
I have ADHD so I dislike when people show up early or, god forbid, ON TIME! I warn them if they come early i'll put them to work! 😅
I was wondering when we’d see the box of cords again 😂
It's always around...
Totally a dad thing. My father decided on Thanksgiving/Christmas day to do the following. 1. Fix the toilet by removing said toilet (the only one in the house) with 20 people expected for the day. 2.Burn leaves (this is the country) by creating 15 piles of leaves in the driveway, lighting them on fire, leaving no one a spot to park their cars. 3. Clean the porch by repainting it so no one could use that entrance/exit. That was our main way to get into the house. We had to move the Christmas tree from in front of our only other door. Happy Holidays to everyone!!!!
THAT sounds a passive-aggressive way to insure that the company doesn't stay long and doesn't come again! My dad probably did that kind of thing when the inlaws were due.
I don't think this is an ADHD thing. I think it's a husband thing. I'm glad to see this happens in other families besides mine.
I agree! 😂
Everyone does it to some extent. If it interferes with your life, that is the definition of a disorder and one disorder commonly associated with these symptoms is ADHD. As someone with ADHD I can tell you that while many people do these things... not anywhere close to the same amount or with the same level of anxiety and panic.
It’s definitely an ADHD thing.
Leaf blower for cleaning the car is an excellent idea!
Faster than vacuuming.
@@holdernessfamilylaughseasier on the back, too.
This is no lie. This is exactly what my husband does when I need him to help me right before company comes over!! And I literally want to cry. There is no use trying to redirect.....
My husband likes to offer to help when I am busy getting ready for things, too, and I am grateful. But, instead of doing the things I list, he wants to do what he NOW notices- like wash the ceiling IN the kitchen WHILE I am fixing the dinner for company coming in 40 minutes! He is also ADHD, of course
My partner doesn’t have ADHD but boy do I relate to the unnecessary tasks before people come over! For our last family get together all the blinds were cleaned… in rooms no one was going to see…
I love how you are trying to be sarcastic and funny but I can also see pen doing these things 😂
Hey, Kim…forget that “baby rocker” stuff…. My very comfy, beautifully made, still in perfect condition baby rocker was looked on like it was a piece of actual DS when I FINALLY offered it to son & wife, on the birth of Baby One. “Um…yeah…NO!!!” was what I believe there response was. Habitat for Humanity got it the next day and then I bought myself a Coach purse.💕
My husband just power washed the patio yesterday and I am cleaning out the closets before guests get here!! 🤣
I throw everything in the closet 😅
No joke: yesterday I pulled out half the pantry and reorganized with a new shelf. Today I have my kids vacuum and clean the toilet. Because life skilss, amiright?
Anyone else trigged by Kim’s cord wrapping technique?!?
YUP!!!!
Penn for sure was!
I'm in my mid 60's and just now in the process of being formally diagnosed with ADHD (going through the process) so I still have all the how-to ADHD classes to do (so far, just watching ADHD how-to videos on CZcams) I am ecstatic every time I actually get a project completely done - like having an empty dishless sink, or empty laundry baskets and no clothes on the bed or couch. I recently (July 23) moved and am still only halfway unpacked. It feels so good to empty a complete box with the items where their new spot is. I honestly don't know how anybody with ADHD keeps their house clean.
I now live at least 500 miles from the nearest family member. My best friend and I get to go out for Thanksgiving. That's one of the perks of being old.
Oh, my. That is totally my wife's husband too! Yesterday she was cleaning and I was filling gaps under a shed with concrete. Seriously.
😂my wife’s husband 😂😂😂
😂
I still have my glider rocker from 30 years ago, I had Etsy re cover it with new fabric and it was reborn. I so identify with Penn!
That's such a good idea!
Omg so it’s not just my husband that uses the leaf blower for cleaning 😂
I am now hoping that leaf blowers are on sale on Black Friday 💨🍃
It's pretty efficient.
I thought it was just me! True story - We had been living in a new house in a new state for about two weeks and my family (parents and two sisters) were come to stay for the weekend. My husband said not to worry, he'd do most of the work to get ready for the company. He disappeared and I found him vacuuming the storage space under the basement stairs.
Well...because you have to put all that extra Stuff From Moving into the storage space under the stairs, and before you put stuff into it, you have to vacuum it because once the stuff is in there, who KNOWS when the stuff will ever come OUT again, and so it'll NEVER get vacuumed if you don't do it BEFORE the stuff originally goes INTO the storage space!
@@amyhull754 Have you been talking to. my husband? LOL!
@@LWilkes (Basically...I'm more in favor of the vacuuming HAPPENING than the vacuuming NOT EVER happening.)
@@amyhull754Thank you! My husband thinks I'm nuts to insist on this.
Such reality with fantastic humor.
My husband does the stupidest most unnecessary s@#t when we have company coming! Cleans out dozens of bags of his important "papers" (lottery tickets from the '80's, electric bills from the '90:s) when I need "big picture" things done!!! Makes me nuts!!
My husband marched into the kitchen the first year we were together, it was Christmas Eve and we had guests coming in an hour, I was trying to get diner ready and he walked in with all his tools and began to tear the kitchen APART without saying anything to me.....he has gotten MUCH better over the years...he knows he needs to check with me before beginning construction projects!
😮
"just running to Chris's because he has a longer hose and I can pressure wash the whole street" 😂 was eating soup and spewed it everywhere 😂
😅
1000% relatable! Must be why my mother in law lovingly “shared” this to my Messenger page 2 days ago. Perhaps she recognized me here😉
…It’s EVERY SINGLE TIME our family comes to stay with us…no matter how many weeks or months in advance I know about their planned visit. I’d call the last minute energy rush a super power…IF my energy could just be targeted for the areas everyone else would deem priority prep for incoming guests.
OMG! My husband is just like this! Everything but what he’s supposed to do before company comes!
Seeing someone claim that wrapping a cable around their elbow is "the correct way" hurts my sensibilities.
Over - under - over - under.
I was about to say the same thing.
You forgot the 30 minute power poop. Gross, but necessary part. Meanwhile, your wife vacuums the whole house, cures cancer, and has also been cooking all day. All day...
My son does this every single time I ask for help with house chores. I didn't realize it's a thing...just thought he's weird.
I got ready by cleaning the grout with a scrub brush and wash the walls but everything else has a thick layer of dust on it, priorities are important especially when you family who never remembers to bring their eye glasses inside comes to visit.
I totally clean like Kim. Drives my husband crazy! I will go through boxes that have not been touched in months/years. .... and prune/repot plants. :) ...but it all gets done! :) 😂
Yes, every other chore except for the ones on the online Cozi list to prepare for guests coming over.
As an adult with ADHD, I will fall down a rabbit hole of a random project. Just last night I decided to haul out the Christmas tree and decorate it while ignoring the laundry I needed to fold. 😅
Every husband everywhere !!!
But we found a list truely helps our relationship…. Less frustration on both sides.
True story: my ADHD husband cleaned the roof before company came over. He was helping me get ready.
With a nice dose of procrastination thrown in.
I had ADHD growing up and I believe I still have it to this day. But this made me feel better about myself
ADHD doesn't go away. There are treatments and strategies to handle it better, but there is no cure for it. If you had it growing up, you still do. If you don't have it now, you were misdiagnosed as a kid. My guess (total guess without knowing anything about you) is that you probably still have it, you've just gotten better at handling it.
@@Sam_on_CZcams thank you for your feedback I appreciate it. And yeah I don't think it's as bad as it used to be as a kid. But I definitely got diagnosed with it as a child.
I look forward to these; fortunately my husband also finds it amusing. Especially since we've both spent the last two weekends redoing the floor trim in the hallway, painting upstairs and cleaning out the front hall closet, which to be fair, people need to use. Happy Thanksgiving and thank you, as always, for the laughs.
When i was in school the easiest way to make my room clean as a whistle was to tell me my least favorite subject had something due.
Some people here are commenting on how Kim is making fun of ADHD and I really do not agree. I feel that a lot of neurotypical people also get distracted while getting ready for a big event. Sometimes I will take on projects just to avoid doing the things that actually have to get done. Suddenly other things seem more important. It's weird. But I think it is a natural tendency for a lot of people - especially if you have cool tools in the garage like pressure washers and leaf blowers.
I know a lot of husbands who do this and they do not have ADHD.
My husband needed to shred paperwork from 2011 this past Christmas to get things ready for my family coming to visit. After that we needed built in bookshelves immediately for some reason.
My husband is just like that. "I think I organize the basement" this week before Thanksgiving!
That’s funny, your husband getting ready for company is my husband getting ready for our baby.
Except I’d find random stuff to take to a different room, which I would see needs to be cleaned to! So I’d start on that, but find a dish or something and go into the kitchen only to decide to do dishes and so on and so on! Pretty soon I’d have a bunch of half finished projects!! 😂 😂
😂😂my husband is super helpful and gets loads of stuff done before company. But DON'T GET IN HIS WAY!!! He's a man on a mission.
OMG Kim you were SO brave going into that crawl space!
OH. MY. GOSH! In our house I, the Mom, am the ADHD person. I am definitely this person! My brain prioritizes the strangest things when company comes. hahahaha
Totally! I am always surprised with the random tasks I am suddenly compelled to complete when I have something else to do.
Ooooh Man, so true about the wrapping of the cords, my husband says the same thing, and the amount of times I've heard that...😅❤
This. Is. My. Husband! Right down to the massager, which just about killed me! And yes, the guests would be horrified if the driveway weren’t freshly powerwashed.
You had me at "insulation dangling"... 😂😂😂
“Who wears Christmas jammies?” 😂😂🤣
Lol my husband does this 100% of the time. I make a list. I tell him a few days before, then 2 days before, then the day before. Then he decides the day people are coming that he suddenly needs to organize his tools in the garage or some other crazy thing, instead of helping make food or sweep the floor. I was laughing the whole video!
Kim, my wife would love to have a husband as industrious as Penn seems to be.
Bingo. All these people be like, “my husband does the same thing!”
Uhhhhhh…at least he’s doing SOMETHING. 🙄
I saved my rocking chair and my daughter painted it and rocked her babies in it. It's back in my shed though! I really appreciate you guys. Happy Thanksgiving!
Listening to the partner behind the camera giggle all through these videos is kind of the best part😊
YES. My husband has ADHD and literally is incapable of doing any necessary task until the last possible second when it’s the most inconvenient time possible. 🤦🏼♀️
My 72yo dad throws away everything not being used regularly unless it is car parts he is saving for when his 40+yo car breaks. He also loves to pressure wash the driveway and does best when given a list. He tried to throw away engraved silver cufflinks my mom gave him on their wedding day because he never uses them. My mom knows him well enough to not be offended. It's a wonder to me that she has maintained her sanity.
He also has an uncanny ability to memorize streets and landmarks, never gets lost while driving and has some seriously high anxiety about driving in traffic and being late.
You nailed it! My husband always spent the day on the lawn when we had a dinner party after dark and NOBODY would even see it….god forbid he just asked “honey, what can I do to help?”
Your husband has so many good ideas and you reminded me that I have to show my family Christmas jammies
LOL on the glider! I had the rocking chair that my in which my mother rocked her babies, and then I rocked my babies with it. I loved that chair and really wanted to keep it. The trouble was that my youngest completely destroyed it. I tried to hold onto it and fix it, but it was in pieces and we had to throw it out.
This was 100% a spontaneous rant that turned into a vid. I felt like I could see my wife snapping and doing this exactly.
Biggest take away: Kim still looks amazing.
Love you guys and ur content ❤
Thanks for being here.
So so fun and funny! I wish all married couples could laugh at our differences
this video and all of your others are amazing. getting to meet you all on Saturday was one of the best things that ever happened to me. thank you so much for being the nicest people and meeting your fans. hope kim and lola enjoy the taylor swift bracelets!!!
-quinn
Penn laughing in the background! 😂
Kim!!! I have been doing the same! Closets, painting, redoing the whole living room and dining room. Oh and I took down all the curtains - washed and ironed them!!!!
IRONED, you say??
HA HA!! I was busy cleaning out the back of the sewing room closet in prep for company when I took a much needed break to watch this video.
OMG, this Moment 1:48, I had a Flash of Heidi when she does Taylor!
Also, Y'all are just So Wholesome when you spoof each other
This is no lie.. My husband got a ladder out and cleaned the TV screen last time we had family come over. 'uh, thanks?'
Are you guys spying on us. 😂no, seriously. 🤔
Maybe... sorry you had to find out this way.
@@holdernessfamilylaughs 😳😏😂 !!! 🥰👍
This reminds me of my parents time they have company over either doing bells or doing something like goofy outside hilarious
My husband generally likes to clean and organize the garage when company is coming over. It was fine when we had a 8x12 shed. Okay when we had a 2 car x car garage. Not okay now that we have an 8800sq foot warehouse. LOL
And this is why I get stressed before company comes. There is never enough time to do all of these totally legitimate things before everyone comes!!!
We had company over last night. I felt compelled to water plants and reorganize the random wires drawer while getting the house in shape.
I considered touching up our painted cabinets but they were set to arrive in 15 minutes.
I'll be doing that tonight! Ha!!!
I am always entertained by your videos. I found you because my dad has ADD and I did a search for how to cope with it. One of your videos came up. I was pleasantly surprised to find that you make funny videos too.
My husband thinks that when we have company he suddenly needs to wash and groom the dogs. Like it hasn’t needed to be done for at least a month before that!
Not just husbands…….parents are coming on Wednesday, and I ripped everything out of or master closet. So far I’ve got shelves removed, holes patched, and all that is left is painting it a whole different color before installing new ikea shelving. Whole house still needs to be cleaned.
You guys are great! I can always count on you for a laugh. Happy Thanksgiving.
Bahaha I'm glad you confessed at the end that this is in fact, the woman's way of getting ready for company 🤣🤣. I be like what can i do? And my wife tells me i can scrub the baseboards behind the couch (when nobody can sit on the couch because of clutter) 😂
1:33 My back's been fubar since I was 28, so this is completely relatable. XD
I mean the leaf blower with the car was pretty ingenius
Definitely the best way to clear out the car
This is hilarious! 😂 and everything my boyfriend and I were talking about this weekend! Lol
I think a lot of us can relate to this, even the non-husbands, lol… 😂 thanks, as always, for the laughs!
LOL at the cords. You can tell who used the vacuum cleaner last by how the cord is wrapped.
I raised 5 kids. The leaf blower is the best way to clean out a car!
