@@xion0713 They aren’t so much a personality on their own than they are a reflection of the user’s inner thoughts unfiltered, take Spice Girl for example when she was awoken she couldn’t actually act on her own even though she was able to talk, she wasn’t sentient she was still just a spiritual manifestation of Trish. Gold Experience Requiem is a little bit different but has the same rules applying, it’s not sentient, GER is able to defend sub-conciously (probably spelt that wrong) as their ability is automatic without the user even knowing what it is unlike other stands where everything is mostly manual. Although we have seen stands act on their own without a user like with the one that attached to Rohan’s back and Notorious B.I.G, we were never shown that they weren’t just a reflection of the original user’s personality, the one that attached itself to Rohan’s back (I seriously forgot the name) and Notorious B.I.G were both still fully automatic stands and couldn’t deviate from what their ability forces them to do and thus don’t qualify for free will or even free thinking.

If you think about it it's even better: Jotaro's not just smiling by proxy at getting to chuck Iggy across the desert. He's grinning because he's got a dead weight teammate, a valid reason to throw him so no one can even get mad at him for throwing an ally, and a solution to their problem of N'Doul tracking them. It's basically the absolute ideal situation for him where he gets to do something cool and unexpected, punish someone who wasn't helping them at all, and come out of it with no one thinking worse of him.
