Some people here say "this is not accurate". The only precision needed is that the sun's course changes in Egypt but not in equatorial Africa, where it rises and sets at about the same time all year. So the myth is distinctively Egyptian, and based on other myths from central Africa.

Cultural appropriation is when someone who has no direct ancestral connection to the culture, remixes elements of someone else's culture to recreate their own without giving credit to where those traditions originated from, therefore leaving those who come after them to assume that it started with the culture that took remnants from another.

It is only 19 hours at a specific latitude.

This is so on time for the big push for black history to be taught in the schools. It has to show that the history is much more extensive than slavery. I had planned to take my daughters to Egypt when my baby girl turned 7. I think that is an appropriate time for children to be able to learn and absorb the history and the lessons of those days. Looks like it will take place later than expected, but there should be an abroad component when the history begins to be taught. It can even be virtual, but it really gives children/young people and even adults such an opportunity to be emersed and gain greater insight on culture to be in the actual place they are studying. To see the pyramids, to walk on the sand, and to see all the sites while learning about Kings and Queens and so much more is an invaluable experience for the children to know more about where they come from.
I find faults with his framing of this information. For example, "holiday" means "holy day", from Old English. That's why we call holy days holidays. That's not a secret. Secondly, scripture does not say Christ was born in a stable, but a cave, that is why if you go to Bethlehem to where Jesus was born, it's underground. All you can say is that his story is similar to stories that existed previously in Africa, which is not the same as saying it was appropriated from or stolen from African stories. There is sufficient evidence that the story of Jesus is true, and therefore it would make no sense to say it was appropriated. That really is like saying that the story of Abraham Lincoln being assassinated is appropriated from the assassination of Julius Caesar, or saying that the story of King Kamehameha was appropriated from the story of King Arthur (look it up!). Just because stories are similar does not mean one is fabricated, it just means they are similar. That's all.

The name for Egypt was ḥwt-kȝ-ptḥ (home of Ptah's soul). Which the Greeks translated into "Aegyptus". Kemet was a region within Egypt, just like Deshret was. People bringing up Kemet always forget about Deshret(red land, the desert around Kemet).

Very interesting. I'm not African nor African-American. I'm classified as "white" in the racial classifications my ancestors invented, but I started reflecting on racism (which I didn't already link to what it really is: white supremacy then) when I realized that "people" somehow tried to make us believe that Egypt was not African. This is so on time for the big push for black history to be taught in the schools. It has to show that the history is much more extensive than slavery.
I had planned to take my daughters to Egypt when my baby girl turned 7. I think that is an appropriate time for children to be able to learn and absorb the history and the lessons of those days. Looks like it will take place later than expected, but there should be an abroad component when the history begins to be taught. It can even be virtual, but it really gives children/young people and even adults such an opportunity to be emersed and gain greater insight on culture to be in the actual place they are studying. To see the pyramids, to walk on the sand, and to see all the sites while learning about Kings and Queens and so much more is an invaluable experience for the children to know more about where they come from.

Jesus/Mary myth comes from. Hard to see where you get off calling him a

Given that Stonehenge is dated from about the same period as the pyramids, and that it marks the solstices, it seems reasonable to conjecture that its builders were also aware of the the winter solstice and had a myth - possibly similar - associated with it. I would not be surprised if some version of the myth existed long before and was spread worldwide by one of the large out of Africa migrations.
In any event, Christianity was firmly defined long before it reached northern Europe, so the origins of the Jesus/Mary myth would logically lie in the Greco-Roman world. As wikipedia states, "The worship of Isis eventually spread throughout the Greco-Roman world, continuing until the suppression of paganism in the Christian era.[5] The popular motif of Isis suckling her son Horus, however, lived on in a Christianized context as the popular image of Mary suckling her infant son Jesus from the fifth century onward.[6]"
But on the bright side, no one - that I know of - is claiming Surströmming originated in Africa.

Modern traditions are influenced by everything in the past. We can't originate it with any separate people. Continents are a meaningless European invention. There are no actual dividing lines. The ancient Europeans celebrated the solstice for thousands of years before Christianity with the same underlying story. It would have been more significant to them as it was very dark in the north and they were freezing their assess off. Most of Christmas is Druidic. Like the Christmas Tree and Holly and Santa Claus. But really who cares. Ancient Egypt does not belong to Europeans or Africans. It belongs to the ancient Egyptians who were their own race that has passed away.

No wonder the interviewer didn't show his face or be identified -- the man here is so wrong it's hard to know where to start. There were black people portrayed on the walls of the crypts and other places that have survived from the ancient Egyptian buildings, including pyramids, but unfortunately they were in positions of servitude: they had been captured from the southern reaches of the kingdoms, the middle of what's now Sudan. The rulers and people are portrayed as brown -- not Europeans, but also not Black African. There was a middle period when black Africans moved north and took over the upper Nile, though most of the historical record was destroyed when the northern peoples once again prevailed and took over again.
Those of us who donate to TRNN would appreciate a more sane editorial policy. White-biased histories that ignore achievements of black Africa deserve to be driven to the dustbin of history; but making things up is just fantasy, and doesn't help to legitimize genuine achievements. For ex., look up the Kush empire: when what's now northern Sudan took over the upper Nile kingdoms. THAT was a time when black Africans ruled ancient Egypt, something now recognized as much as it should be.
