I'm so glad I found this video. I was going to go and try and make a resin table but it's probably best if I try making some coasters first for practice.
I agree, the coasters seem doable first.
SHEIN had a mold for a table if you want to test it out
Nice Work! Pro Tip - Leave your boards long, when you dig your channels for the epoxy don't go all the way to the end of the board. When you cut your coasters, just cut off the ends. This will save you the step of having to tape the ends and will reduce the chance of a leak.
That makes so much sense, thank you
This is genius yet so simple !! No need for a mold !!
Beautiful work! Thank you for sharing this build! I dig the flow and type of this video since you asked. 🤘🏼
Nice project, totally different spin on the river probably big saving on epoxy.
Genius way to work around making an entire form!
I really love these coasters!!
They are really beautiful! Absolutely!
Thank you!!
Great video... Just had a friend ask me to make her some so thankful I stumbled on to your video. You make it very simple but beautiful.. Thanks.
Great project idea & great work.
I absolutely love resin art💕....so beautiful sir...
Beautiful work
Love these 💚💚💚💙💙💙
Nice work! That looks like a fun project! Might have try this out sometime!
Friggin Brilliant!
They came out great 🔥👍🏼🔥
Thanks Chop!
Really freaking cool. I'm making some!
might try to make a knife handle out of this, very well done dude.
I love your art!!!
beautiful!
Very nice!!
Great ideal 👍
Great video!
I legit just did thi slast week. I used a router to cut the river. But I may use a sander to make it more authentic by the edges. Soooo cooooool dude
Ty Jacob! I’m attempting a similar project. Greetings from Illinois!
whoa cool stuff and such a chill vid.
Very nice
Who remembers back when youtube only had three songs to choose from for your videos?
What was that coat you applied in the can, it looked like it eliminated the need for polish on the resin , or was polish not included in the video ?
How much grits did u use to sand for finishing ??and also what clear coat did u use?? And what type of wood did u use??thanks for this vid im doing a finish carpentry career
what grid did you sanded the coasters? Resin looks great!
Beautiful concepts. How long did this project take you?
Love your tatts. Your work table is too pretty to use. Not crazy about the coasters. Did I mention that I love your ink?
very beautiful , thanks for share, May i ask a question, How long does it take to polish?
What sandpaper did you use after putting it through the planer?
Just beautiful I enjoy following you. What size did you make the coasters
I've made cool coasters that I've cut out a shape & put an inlay piece in part of it. I have stained both pieces prior to gluing inlay in. I would like to now fill the void space with clear epoxy. How do I do that without sanding off the stain on the other parts? 😬. Would appreciate any suggestions, thanks
Like these Jacob, nice work! I like your use of angle grinder and flap wheel to shape River. I’ve never done that before. Any specific tips on using flap wheel method?
Well I recommend getting the rounded edge flap disc. I didn't have one when I did this and it makes it difficult to get the rounded edge on the sides of the river.
What stuff do you use at the end ?? Is it like wax and varnish or?
Great looking coasters, what kind of wood did you use and sealer.thank
This is Bubinga and Walnut. The sealer is General Finishes Seal-A-Cell.
What grit sandpaper did you use.
Great idea!!! What was the finish?
What wheel (exactly) did you use to cut the groove?
Very nice, what kind of blade was on your grinder? Im gonna be makng some coasters to & want to buy a grinder, those river style are awesome!!
Looks like a flapwheel to me
Michael J. Caboose would a shape wheel work best? I am trying to figure this out as well. 🤷🏻♂️
What kind of saws do you have? What would you recommend for beginner woodworking?
Thnk you sir
Nice Video @
These are great. I think I have my Christmas gift plans already and it's only May.
Very nice. Does Seal-A-Cell make is so coffee cups do not stick to the resin?
Seal-A-Cell can be used as a finish by itself or topped with Arm-R-Seal. I use it because it really makes the grain pop! In this instance I used Arm-R-Seal on top.
Nice what finish coat you using
Good 👍
Hi please can I ask which wood have you used xx
What wood did you use mate?
Couldn't stop looking at the dog on the background.. Just looking for some love and attention from you :P
Parabéns
Love this! Wow, nice work sir! But where did you get the epoxy? Any brand you recommend? Thank you 🙏🏼
I use Total Boat epoxy.
Hi very nice job. I could not take a shot of that clear oil you used. Would you please give me its name. I really appreciated
Show!!!❤🇧🇷
How do you know how much Resin to mix for the pieces you are creating?
👍👍👍
These are awesome! What type of wood is this?
These are Bubinga. It's gorgeous stuff!
When you were using your table saw. What was the square digital box on the guide arm?
Magnetic Angle Finder - put it on the saw blade to find your 45 degree cut and other angles
@@DastardlyBastard thank you
I'm new to woodworking and get really frustrated. Hope little tips and tricks help.
@@Onelastbreath1976 In the same boat have had some things I wanted to try for myself and have found CZcams helpful. Patience and have added some tools lately one at a time but still/always learning.
These coasters are fabulous. Are they available for purchase somewhere?
They are not, sorry. But check Etsy for similar items.
Hi, nice work !! Can i ask you the type of tape you use @02:05 ? Thanks
What type of resin/epoxy? What kind of dye? Where do you get this stuff? Thanks. Great vid!!
Regular table top epoxy should work just fine for this. Black Diamond dyes. Found everything off of Amazon.
What is being used to get the shine? I went looking for something at menards and none of the staff knew what i was referring to
I used General Finishes Arm-R-Seal on these.
What kind of wood did you use if you dont mind me asking, and is that the total boat epoxy ?
The ones in the thumbnail photo are made from Bubinga. The other set is Walnut. And yes that's Total Boat epoxy.
What tool did you use to make the indent for the river?
I used a simple flap disc
What do you charge people for a set of 4 ?
Cant wait to give this ago just waiting on a pearl powder epoxy colour , what tape are you using to cap the ends please
I used the green frog tape from home depot. But I think a good packing tape would have adhered better to the wood. Not sure.
@@jacobelliott5792 thanks for getting back to me
is that a grinder attachment that u used to do the river? if it is what is it called ? thanks
Yes it's a grinder attachment. It's a just a flap disc. Basically sandpaper on a wheel.
How thick are these coasters?
Do they absorb water or do they hold condensation on the surface?
the coasters in my video I put poly on so it keeps the water from being absorbed into the wooden coaster. Feel free to check my channel out
How wide do
You make your costers
RHCP!!!!
What is the round stands you have under the coasters to dry?
And.. they are awesome!!
@@corrynanne Thank you! Those are called "bench cookies".
Mind if I ask what type of finish is on your assembly table?
I used Arm R Seal on the assembly table.
can it handle a hot cup of tea or coffee on it without damaging it ??
I haven't tested that specifically. But I believe it will.
Way easier to route a slot down the middle & then go back over it & just move the piece a little bit left or right to make the curves. That takes forever, I did mine in about 5 minutes. Just an old guy here!!
Do you mean that you routed the slot, and then used his method to “mess up” the edges a bit more? Your way seems much easier
@@Aaakeith Yes, just be careful & make sure you go the right way with your router. I do it on a router table. I actually make my coasters 4X4 & use a 2-3/4 Forstner bit & drill about 1/4-3/8 " deep & then just pour epoxy into them. They aren't "river" but look really nice.
Ok that turn out really really nice, the resin color match well with the wood color. Why haven't u make any content anymore?
I really don't like video editing and with how crazy life has been, I just haven't had the motivation to do it in what little free time I have.
What is that first tool you used to shave the middle out?
A flap disc on a grinder
What kind of wood is this?
Hey man, nice vid, but just remember to wear proper protection when working with resin, the fumes it releases and the dust that flies out when sanding it are really dangerous if you're not protected.
Keep up the good work !
If you make a template from fiberboard, and cut the "river" with a trimmer, especially since it is. That would be several times faster, and with a vacuum cleaner, also without dust. Nevertheless, my like 901th.
What do you mean a trimmer?
@@bitsurfer0101 This is for example the DeWALT that appears in the frame at 4:19.
Hi Jacob, what was the name of the colours you used please?
I can't remember. But it was a Black Diamond product.
What is the song he used in the video?
beautiful im new working with epoxy . trial and error
It is definitely trial and error but too avoid most epoxy errors the best step would be to read the mixing ratio the manufacturer recommends. If you're interested in coasters, feel free to check my video out. I have multiple epoxy designs that you might enjoy!
What are the measurements and how do you make the carved in edges, dont know the exact term, very new to the epoxy world
These are just 4x4. But you can make them whatever size your imagination/creativity wants. And the edges I used a chamfer router bit.
@@jacobelliott5792 thank you!
Can you please give the dimensions of the coaster, finished? Thanks
Did he use resin or polyurethane?
What kind of wood did you use
Bubinga and Walnut
Хорошо получилось, только что это?
Can I get the name of the song used for the video it fits perfectly for a video I’ve shot
I can't remember. I got it from www.artlist.io
CONSUELO. I just looked it up
I thought of doing some type of resin project for my wife but this looks way harder than i expected 😓 i dont have any of those machines used here
You dont need all the fancy tools.
It looks like you used two different finishes...a seal and then something else? Couldn't read the label on the can...please let me know; thanks!
The first is a sanding sealer. It penetrates into the wood and does a great job at bringing out the colors of the grain. The second is just a polyurethane.
@@jacobelliott5792 Much appreciated! Great job!
