The ENTIRE album Gold Nigga by NPG is absolutely incredible on many levels. Musically, with Michael Bland on drums, he provides the backbeat that anchors the grooves. A stunning album. It's also got many funny moments. Hilarious and so so funky.

I agree with you big time on this one. When I started to look up Prince's discography. I saw this particular CD listed. So I did the same thing you did researched it and no luck anywhere. Checked, Tidal, Spotify, etc, etc. But nothing. And I am a big time Prince fan and when I saw how much that you found it for, my mouth hit the floor. There is more way that I would pay that amount of money unless I have money falling from the sky. So hopefully that whoever is in charge of handling the music for PRINCE, that they will release it. Take care, AND MAY YOU LIVE TO SEE THE DAWN!!

Many "times" when "they" over price a piece of art. There is a reason, behind it. Those u have that album have said, musically it's phenomenal. I would venture 2 say; the reason they made the price so high is because; they...don't want U 2 hear, what is being Said.

Hi Prince’s Friends my husband download Goldnigga for me years ago and also NPG Exodus. Both CD’s of NPG were funky and off the chain and I wanted to buy the originals for CD covers, but the CD’s cost two much money or hard to find. I just glad I have both of download CD’s. Maybe Prince estate will release them that would be cool. 😎😊

Slept on it for years, because of my dislike for all things Tony M. related ( probably the only 17 year old, not into hip-hop in 1993). Listened to it years later, because of hearing live versions of a few of the track's. Definitely worth listening to, at least once!

"Goldnigga" is the first studio album by the New Power Generation. It was only made available for sale at some concert venue merchandise stalls on tour in 1993, through Prince's 1-800-NEW-FUNK telephone retail outlet, and at Paisley Park during the 2001 Celebration. It is long out of print, thus very scarce and can fetch high prices second-hand. - I got this from Wikipedia.

I bought the second pressing of NPG-Goldnigga cd album (the one without "guess who's knocking") along with NPG-the good life(1995, released before the Npg-Exodus cd album) cd maxisingle, and Prince-Purple Medley cd maxisingle(1995) directly from 1-800-new funk (Prince's official mail order store) in 1995 when i was 15 years old!🤘🏻💜
Npg-Exodus cd album i bought it in 1995 when it came out, on cduniverse (an online cd store) it was a German import. That album was never made in the Usa.
Prince's 1991-1995 was his best era, Npg-Goldnigga(1993) and Npg-Exodus(1995) are 2 of his best albums.
Npg-newpowersoul(1998) sucks it's a fake Npg (the real Npg is the one that recorded the 2 Npg albums Goldnigga and Exodus: Sonny Thompson, Michael Blend, Tommy Barbarella, Morris Hayes, Levi Seacer Jr, any other people besides those, are not real Npg members) album, one of Prince's worst albums.

First off... I'd like to simply say Hi Friend from another... I had a bunch of bootleg P stuff shared, but had my channel ended despite only sharing stuff that was never released. I won't get into that much, but I'm no longer sharing anything in an effort not to challenge them at all this time around... I'm loving what you're doing... and I will be your next subscriber looking forward to each review even though I have different opinions about several things... a lot of times our favorites have been the same... To my review...
    01. Goldnigga Pt. 1 - Clocking in @ 3:11... this is the longest and possibly best version of this jam. Tony does a great job.
    02. Guess Who's Knockin' - This is a raver track that actually uses a very tiny snippet from Paul McCartney's Wings song "Let Em In" during the chorus of the tune. It's the first of the album to feature the horn section.
    03. Oilcan - 42 seconds of jazz used imo to settle the listener for what's to come...
    04. Segue - 16 seconds because the oilcan stayed hot...
    05. Deuce & A Quarter - My favorite track on the album, although I love them all... "In my Deuce & A Quarter, feelin' funky funky fine, and I'm rockin' that stupid shit"... Michael B.'s drums on this are perfect as well as Prince's background vocal work, the horns, everything. The title refers to the Buick Electra's nameplate which references the length of the car. (225 inches)
    06. Segue - 21 second phone thing
    07. Black MF In The House - Prince's rap @ the 1:07 mark... "Don't U hate it when a niggas in the house, He ain't been in the club 5 minutes b4 6 or 7 curse words flyin' out his mouth, hand all on his erection, makin' rude jestures in the girl's directions, and don't you hate it when they get up and dance... U don't watch Soul Train, Boy, U ain't got a chance, what the hell they gotta come in here 4, next time we need a big white sign on the door that says no black mf's in the house." Funky.
    08. Goldnigga Pt. 2 (2:52) is a conversation type track between gf and goldnigga.
    09. Goldie's Parade is a N.P.G. Jazzy Jam full of exstasy. A carnival ride.
    10. Segue
    11. 2Gether - "What are we if we're not 2gether?"
    12. Segue
    13. Call The Law a slammin' song... Tony M. at his best in my opinion with an awesome Prince guitar and funky bass and drum.
    14. Johnny, opens with a comedy skit before breaking into a great jam.
    15. Segue
    16. Goldnigga Pt. 3 (2:38) Outro jam
Eye got this Imported when it came out and still listen to a number of these tracks over and over from time to time. Eye would also highly recommend "Exodus" and Mayte's "Children Of The Sun" not to mention "The Undertaker" but eye guess I just did. Hope you are able to acquire this and dig this short review... it's a favorite of mine along with Exodus as N.P.G. greatness. I wouldn't sell my original copy for $1,000. I'm just sayin'... my collection wouldn't be complete without it. It's simply that good.

Do you think to the contrary of what most critics, myself included, that "Emancipation" would have benefited from editing? While I loved the excess when I had bought the album, ("hey, the more Prince, the better", I then thought) I personally think there are many b-side songs, too many, and because of that, "Emancipation" suffers, with the exception of about 1/3 of the opus, as a forgettable piece of work. B-sides don't have to be throw-away songs, but I think "Emancipation" is overwrought with them.
