@@jayasuriyaj3470 do you know any IITians that recently graduated and are truly unemployed? The problem is that the placement couldn't accept the salary package pre-decided by the institute. If i ask for an unreasonable sum (given market conditions) then i deserve to be unemployed. All my friends kids who came back in 2020-2022 are gainfully and happily employed. So much so that they are forgotten their earlier plans of going to the US for a masters.

I want to move to H4 visa and apply for EAD along with as I am also impacted by layoff. Do I still have option to look for new employers while the H4 status+EAD is pending/approved and they can file H1b transfer with existing I797 petition which is still valid for 2 years.

You can but uprooting your life could be difficult. Plus moving family to US is not that easy.

Also, you cannot do premium processing for H4 EAD if it is not being done alongside the adjustment/extension of H1 visa holder. For example, I can do premium processing for my partner if I am changing a job or filing an extension. I cannot do premium processing for H4 EAD if those two do not apply. For example, I have H1B visa, got married and my partner is coming to US. The H4 EAD application in that scenario is not eligible for premium processing.
It was not mentioned in the video but if you do move to your country, you can still look for jobs in US provided you had days left in your H1B Visa. Put simply, get a job within 60 days within US or get if from India after it, the end result is that you can start working after that. Is that correct or am I misinformed?
Also, what do you mean by preparing for O-1 VISA? Means working with an immigrant lawyer at a personal level to start/explore that option?
I too want to understand about the O1 visa. As I understand it, it is a non-immigrant visa and cannot be self filed. I thought your employer needed to file it.

you can come back on a B1 B2 tourist visa. When you're on the tourist visa, go visit all the companies and try and find a job.
As long as you find a job within the expiration of the original visa, you don't need to go through the lottery. you can just direct file a new h1b without the cap and get back to the United States.
