That is something one of the basic cable networks would have done in the early 90s, back then they were throwing a lot stuff at the wall to see what would stick. Very little did.
The stupid lamp thing makes me think the writers/creators found that lamp, thought it was creepy and cool and wanted to use it in a movie. XD "this lamp is weird, our new leader!"
Pshhhh. We all know what really happened was starscream went into an alternate universe, possessed another waspinator, beat up both the maximals and predacons, and then wound up being the hero in an alternate (and much better) beast machines.
I love the voice Phelous did for the evil, evil lamp. If there's ever going to be any other movie with evil household items, I would love to hear Phelous voicing that evil household item, I don't care what item it is. I'd love to hear an evil couch that eats people speak in that voice. I'm honestly disappointed that the movie didn't end with them using another lamp to fight the evil lamp, like throwing a normal lamp at it or something. But I have to say seeing two grown women throwing the lamp with a priest tied to it out of the window is one of the funniest things I've ever seen, especially with Phelous' addition of throwing the girl out as well.
The Evil Lamp (I Found at a Yard Sale)! Both the Amityville 4 and the Time Machine reviews are probably my two favorite Phelous reviews. I'll never get tired of them - there's just so much funny in them.
The voice he gave to the lamp reminds me a lot of g1 starscream's voice, so now all I can think of is starscream's spark possessing this lamp, and starscream being the real villian of this movie.
It's not the first time a possessed lamp was the theme for a horror movie. A few years before Amityville 4 was made there was a movie called The Outing (A.K.A The Lamp) that was about a possessed oil-burning lamp terrorizing teens in a museum.
You know a Phelous review is good when you question whether that actually happened in the movie or did he put it in? like the end with the cat? Seriously i thought he put that in as an effect haha along with the girl being thrown out of the window?
I can understand the little girl's plight...my grandfather is a clock after all. It's always confusing when appliances you use turn out to be your biological relatives. Unlike the lamp, we managed to work out our differences and get along 😉
"I shall leave you as you left me...as you left my old house...marooned for all eternity at the center of a pile of bills. Buried in debt...buried in debt..."
they should make a horror movie about a family who moves into a haunted house. the twist, they've moved into so many haunted houses they're not even phased by all the activity. the son, "Mom i see dead people" "Well tell them to stop moving the couches, they're scratching up the floor" or. mother sees ghost in mirror, "Will you stop that, i'm trying fix my makeup and i can't concentrate with you staring at me'
You should check out “The Selling of Scarry Manor,” It’s a horror comedy about an entrepreneur who get his hands on an incredibly haunted house and is trying as hard as he can to flip it while keeping prospective buyers from freaking out when they tour the place.
I saw this review years ago (pretty sure it was before it was even on CZcams!) and always wanted to rewatch it. The lamp slowly wobbling over the screen with a bunch of crayons is one of my favorite jokes in anything ever. It just about had me dying when I first saw it and it's still as hilarious as I remembered. I love a lot of Phelous' reviews, but this one holds a special place in my heart.
Ahh, my old nemeses, The DMN Lamp! Seriously, I saw this movie as a little kid and that Lamp genuinely scared me, to the point I was wary of lamps with spherical light bulbs that reminded me of it. Fortunately, my Bear Lamp (a lamp with a stuffed teddy bear at its base which I own to this day and it still works, though had to replace the lamp shade twice) had a lamp shade that allowed me to sleep at night (apparently my young mind considered the shade as the equivalent to "hiding under the covers" as the lamp in the film doesn't have one, causes Lamp Shades are its kryptonite). I eventually got over my silly fear of Demon Lamps. So there actually was someone who was once scared by this Demon Lamp Movie.
I'd also like to thank Phelous for reuniting me with my old adversary of a horror film, as I was too young to apparently remember the name. I always considered it that horror movie with the Demon Lamp and possessed cat at the end which I thought was by Steven King (and yes I've seen the Family Guy cutaway where King says his next book will be about a haunted lamp to his publisher after spotting the guy's desk lamp and the publisher realizes he isn't even trying anymore, before accepting the proposal). I think I was the cat at the end that made me think that cause I was somehow subconsciously aware of Church from Pet Cemetery (might have seen him on the cover of the book, a TV promo, or something as I wasn't a fan of scary horror movies as a kid).
Just goes to show you, you never know what will scare somebody, especially if their a little kid (or an adult who discovers they have a fear of lamps and/or lamps possessed by the devil or demons). Also that poor possessed cat at the end (he not only got possessed, but never even got an Amityville sequel and is COMPLETELY POINTLESS NOW!) (Sorry I was channelling a bit of the Beauty's Old Man there... HEEEEEEE!).
Ah this remains one of my favorite reviews of yours, Phelous. Cracks me up every time! By the way I listened to a creepy pasta the other day, I think it was called "Keep the Lights Off" and I was totally reminded of this review. cause it also featured an evil demonic lamp!
GruntGamerProductions there's several good plant horror movies like both little shop of horrors, day of the triffids, and invasion of the body snatchers
Kaefer1973 Five across the eyes is a really good one too, but Seventh Moon honestly made me kind of nauseous to watch. I wanted to appreciate Phelous' humor, but it's tough when each shot from the movie gives me a migraine. 😑
That would make the house creepier if it worked that way. Wish the movies would show or at least mention it though, and show the house regrowing or repairing itself, or something.
This isn't even the worst Amityville movie because the franchise has been dragged through the mud with direct to dvd movies that popped up after the remake with Ryan Renolds The Amityville Playhouse The Amityville Terror The Amityville Asylum The Amityville Haunting Amityville The Awakening (the only film in this list with a review rating higher then 3 stars)
I have an answer about why the house looks ok in this one, Amityville 3D was marketed as a non canonical entry in the franchise. When the trailer ends, there’s a text in the bottom that explicitly states that it’s not a sequel to the first movie or its prequel, The Possession. So canonically speaking it’s The Possession, The Amityville Horror and The Evil Escapes.
It looks like a Nightmare Before Christmas tree reject and also the people who does Amityville Horror must really be running out of ideas to come up for a evil lamp...I guess J.I.M. got his idea for Foamy The Squirrel Amityville Toaster from this stupid made movie. XD
Phelous, just want to tell you are the best at what you do. And no matter which year, from newest to oldest, the reviews are still just as good as ever. Keep the fantastic work. You fail to fail us, Phelous.
The lamp covered up the plumber to not alert the housekeeper to call an ambulance or police. The family would look for the housekeeper even if it tossed the coat away.

Going to go see a Rifftrax Live of this. Phelous’ voice for the lamp will go through my head consistently.
