I can’t stop admiring this robot, the way he gets his own bad ass music like Darth Vader. THEN the way he just runs through the door ways destroying everything as well.
Quite ironic you bring up Darth Vader. The voice actor of the robot is actually Frank Oz, the voice of Master Yoda himself.

That and the aliens
Dude this movie was my childhood and it scared me
You should've played the VideoGame then. The level where we go to the Robot's home planet is a nightmare buffet.
I once had a nightmare where I was stuck in a maze house with my friends but this robot would only be chasing me. The robot was my favorite side character in this movie and that's what I get in return. That thing was haunting.
@HYPIROUN Well that seems pretty terrifying but I just remember hiding in a closet in the dream and it knew where I was. I still see that thing staring at me.

This film was literally my childhood.
My nan and granda got me a box set with both Zathura and Jumanji and I’d watch them over and over and over again. This part was one of my FAVOURITE parts. I loved how the boys thought it was harmless but instead was deadly. I interpreted it as “someone may seem harmless but could be very dangerous”
The music that starts at 0:34 until it stops is one of my favorite themes played in any film, AND ITS ONLY A FEW SECONDS LONG

That robot was terrifying when i was a kid. Everything from his voice to his design is nightmare fuel.
Fun fact: The robot was voiced by the same actor who played Kermit the frog.
@@twistedyogertActually the same guy who did Fozzie and Miss Piggy. (Frank Oz)
I remember watching this for the first time. When it suddenly grew taller, I said "I think it's him who can punt you across the room now."
Watching Josh Hutcherson this young all the way to becoming Mike Schmidt in the new Five Nights at Freddy's movie. Time flew by quickly.
That robot will always scare me, I hate being chased so this kicks in my fight or flight. Especially by huge being ie this robot, the hulk, that suit from iron man. Scary
Lol that robot looks creepy, extraterrestrial, but he can't win an t 800 😝😝
Its persistence and viewport of the interior make it a technological marvel imo. Plus, BUZZ SAW HAND!!
@@haden4240 this robot’s upper body strength is pretty strong being both of it’s arms went straight through the wall in the first scene when it launched itself at them and had to use a saw to dislodge its arm, also this robot can fly as where the T-800 can’t, I’d say if this robot was faster on its feet then it could fight the T-800 especially with a claw and saw, but I’m not sure which would win because if this robot started sawing through the T-800 skeleton it would do loads of damage
@@Peculiarsafe83 The Zathura robot also has the weight and reach advantage. It could probably grab the T-800's wrist and just slam it around a lot.
This is the scariest movie I’ve ever seen. No horror movie can top it. That robot and the kids always screaming messed me up.
0:58 i love the way that robot says “emergency, emergency”
1:29 sound gaint
I remember seeing this when I was like 6 and when that robot got big and got his saws it terrified the absolute soul out of me and I had countless nightmares about it I would even have dreams not even zathura related like this one dream I was playing with hot wheels and he crashes through the wall out of nowhere the nightmares lasted a long time till I was like 8 but now I think it's a pretty cool robot design
I think the most impressive thing about the robot is I can’t tell if it’s a real prop, a practical effect or special effect. If someone knows let me know I’d love to know
It's both, the feet and torso are real, but the head, arms, and legs are cgi. There is a video on CZcams that shows what the scene looked like before the cgi was added.
@@MotorHead74808 really? I’ll have to look it up cause this movie is one of my all time favorites mainly for that robot and the child actors aren’t too bad.

The defective robot mistakenly targets Walter as Alien life form however when Walter shows the reprogram card to the robot, the robot become normal while it was rebooting his programming system and correctly & eventually redeemed itself after finally realising it's original purposes
Correct! For the plot of this game goes that in the story, in reality, that robot is man-made, perhaps built by the people of its "Space Academy" and originally meant to destroy Alien life forms, but it had some electronic fault and it thinks humans, in this case players themselves, Aliens and it's only good luck if you get that card with which you can reprogram it back to its creator species, the human side.

Don’t worry it scared me too
Same here this robot literally scarred me for life I’m ngl it’s still givin me the creeps now.
Honestly when Danny and Walter were arguing and the robot was in the background, I always thought it was walking towards them, but it wasn’t until now that I realized if it was, 1) you would’ve heard it’s footsteps and 2) it wasn’t moving up and down, it was just moving up. So now I’m thinking that in that scene, it’s just growing. Unfortunately I keep seeing it as walking and now I get confused about it easily 😅
Voiced by Frank Oz himself.
That's one bad ass movie robot. SO GOOD!

The best part about the robot is, for the most part, he's completely real. His limbs were CGI, but his body was a costume worn by an actor and the head was remote controlled. Even his back thrusters were real.

This robot was so cool I always used to walk like it
Fast forward 18 years later and this is still a great movie
Practical effects always beat cgi also I thought the robot was funny because of its corny robot design and because it would mindlessly just rocket boost itself into its objective no matter where it would end up crashing through or into lol 🤣
