The whole record feels like something isn't right, the beginning of the end for the 21st century.

@@sodoffbaldrick it is majority Jonny. thom's write lyrics, jonny write songs, jonny literally a composer how do you dont know that

@@revanasywal i literally quoted the phrase they use in interviews, 'thom writes majority of songs"
i mean sure, jonny is a composer, but so is thom. who do you think writes music for his solo stuff?
only music jonny wrote for radiohead without thom is music for the tourist. some song they did together, like just and paranoid android. sometimes others come up with their parts, like colin came up with better bass line for nude. but some songs stay as they were written by thom, like sail to the moon, pyramid song, fpt, eiirp, exit music, street spirit, etc

The sparse percussion that seem to fall together in a simple yet complex way blows my mind every time. It’s like post modern classical music, if that’s even a possibility. As for the lyrics, they are up for interpretation (as usual with this band). I will, however, admit that most of their songs deal with extreme social awkwardness and anxiety. Same album, the song How To Disappear Completely is about Thom trying to deal with the pressure of massive success after The Bends and OK Computer’s popularity.

Just fyi; the lyrics you’re reading are wrong. The line should be:
‘Here I’m alive, everything all of the time’
    You guys rock!!

The drums are created with synth notes that are tweaked to sound like drums... this is all analogue synths and samples. I'm not sure if anyone in Radiohead even played an instrument on this track. It's a masterpiece of creativity.

love your review of this! agree with @yourbandsucks honestly this song seems prophetic and v much about late stage capitalism and the threat of us running the earth into the ground and towards war through consumption and greed and ignorance. being allowed everything all of the time is the epitome of the capitalist dream but it’s not sustainable

I think he is referring to a possible future. When he says he will laugh until he burst is maybe avoiding real problem and instead searching up cat videos. When he refers to being allowed to everything all at once, I think he is referring to our smart phones. How we have all this info and we hear all agendas. Also, they have another song on the record where he says " this isn't happening". Then you get to this one and the lyric is" this is really happening". Almost like a denial and then a panicked acceptance. Brilliant way to construct the theme.
