A few notes:
- The jailbreak URL has changed to jailbreak.psp2.dev from deploy.psp2.dev, but if you use the old URL it should redirect you anyway
- If you have a PS Vita 1000 (OLED) model, it is possible to partition the Vita and bypass the need to use an official Sony Memory Card. Here are instructions: guide.psp2.dev/guides/creating-an-internal-memory-card
- To restore PS Store access, install the ITLS-Enso app via VitaDeploy's App Downloader
- Jailbreaking your PS Vita will allow you to continue to earn trophies, and your account won't get banned unless you do something like try to spoof/cheat trophies
I tried your last video but couldn't pass the step of installing vpkj after downloading it on vita deploy. What could be the problem?
I also tried deleting it but it seems that i couldn't delete files. What could be the problem
Ehy mate why theres no games in my pkg app ?.its says no item found

I know you said my profile won't get banned, but i would be paranoid to lose my 10+ year old PSN account.
@@asamslife1 Thanks , i found metal slug and i downloaded it , but it doesnt appear in my dash
To me a computer-less jailbreak has always been a lot more significant. Less barrier to entries
Well some jailbreaks that "require" a PC (not Vita specifically but quite a few others like I believe the Switch and the Wii U) will also work with just an Android phone
@@iUseAndroid2024 Do you know a guide that shows you how to play a hacked wii step by step? I searched a lot and couldn't find it like NuSspli.

Did a computer less jailbreak with my phone for my ps3
@@uwuuuuwauwa Hello. I had a PC modded Vita, and due to some stuff my brother did I had to rejailbreak it from scratch using the methods in the video
1st question : No, I haven't had any limitation compared to how my Vita were the first time I hacked it
2nd question : Yes, there's an app called PKGj that Retro Game Corps shows in this video around the end that acts like an alternative shop from which you can dowload PS Vita, PS One and PSP games. However you don't have all games that ever existed on those so having a PC is still recommanded for some titles.
I went through so much trouble setting up my vita and the sd card mode. I am happy to see the process is a lot more simple and streamlined now. Not having to use a pc is huge.
Does it matter what SD card you get?
@@lilpenguiny4289 Just don't use weird offbrand cards, stick to Sandisk, Samsung, Kingston etc
yes. jailbreaking vita and setting up sd2vita ~4/5 years ago was RIDICULOUS. Tore my hair out for hours and still didn't know half of what was happening.
How much sd storage can you use ? I got 128gb but I want more storage .. I heard Samsung it better. Is the max storage 512gb?
One important step that isn't articulated in the video, but took me a few tries to figure out:
At 6:41, after selecting all and then unselecting SceloTrash, you have to use arrow up or down to navigate OFF of SceloTrash onto one of the highlighted/selected folders before using the copy function. Otherwise, it will copy SceloTrash instead of the 15 selected folders. If you see "1x Copied" when you're on this step, this is why.
Thanks man I was having the same thing
I did this but how do I fix it?
Thanks mate!
If we did what was instructed by selecting scelotrash will it affect the mod in any way?
@@ncnuggets You don't select scelotrash. You have to unselect it as you don't want to copy it. The destination folder already contains scelotrash. But you have to move the cursor/highlighted line off scelotrash before copying.
Such a good tutorial bro. Hands down has to be one of the clearest easiest to follow tutorial on anything I’ve ever tried on CZcams. Thank you good sir 👏
One day someone will add subtext to the confirmation prompt saying "Yeah, man. I wanna do it."
Hopefully steam deck can implement it somehow

The timing of this video is unbelievable. I wasn't sold on the idea of this before before but just this morning decided to revisit it so my Vita isn't just gathering dust. I searched for Vita vids on this channel and this one popped up at the top. The gaming gods smile on us today
So, did you hack yours doing this method? Was there any proble

wow this is so cool. i should've done that way earlier. so many features to explore. great tutorial!
great tutorial, simple and direct, i was not aware of the VitaDeploy app, but it is actually quite powerful!
Excellent guide on the new jailbreak. Thank you!
I appreciate how you did it in real time it’s rare to find everyone is so quick trying to fit 10 minutes of info in a 60 second clip it blows
Fantastic guide!😊 Thanks for making this 👍
Wow, we've come a long way. That looks super easy. Don't own a Vita, but that sure makes it easy to jailbreak it. Great video.
getting the deploy on is easy its afterwards thats a mission
i had issues connecting to my pc this helped me a lot keep up the good work
@Retrogamecorp
Had a Vita sitting on the drawer for ages, doing nothing.
Watched your video and it has a whole new lease of life.
So much easier than having to use a pc.
Reminds me if that ios jailbreak that was just a webpage that read "slide to jailbreak" 👍👍
Said it before but worth reiterating: Your guide to jailbreaking the vita was a total game changer for me, thank you so so much.
Glad I could help!
@@RetroGameCorps does this work with Ps vita that are from Japan imported then translate to English to read??? And instead of retroarch can we use Classic boy pro instead thats better emulator.

Thanks very much for this guide, Russ. I saw it yesterday and thought I'd dig my Vita out since I haven't used it in a while (turns out almost 7 years!) ordered a SD2Vita, which arrived today. I was worried I might brick the thing, but your guide was so clear and the process was so easy it went off without a hitch. Spent the last couple of hours revisiting some PSP favourites :D
Thank you so much, nice and easy. Perfect video! Enjoying the Vita so much more now
Oh wow this is awesome, and is so easy compared to other jailbreak methods. Thanks for the guide ! I'm going to do this to my vita soon.
This was a great tutorial, thanks for putting it out there.
Thankyou man after a bit of troubleshooting, it all works as of 10th April 2024 and 100% worth it !
Thanks for the walkthrough, Russ. It really helped me out.😀
This is crazY, just got my vita back from under the dust and game across this video!
Big thanks man, everything was super clear and super easy.
I also took mine out of my old closet thanks to this maybe I can play games I couldnt able to play
This worked completely fine with my Ps Vita 2000 (3.74). Thank you so much for this amazing tutorial!
Im so confused did you need a memory card on ps vita 2000 in order for it work. Because when i press format target storage it just says "fortmat failed (c1-2755-9)"
@@buttjole7498 Yes, you will need to have a micro sd card and a SD2VITA (micro sd card adapter). If it's not working properly, try to change another memory card or use a brand new one.
@@queent7136 I had this same error message last night, with an older 64GB micro SD, so I just got a brand new 256 Samsung as per recommendation and still getting the same error message... any ideas? - Thanks in advance
@@queent7136 I have a micro SD card but not a SD2VITA, does this mean I can't mod my vita now?
@@FFFr3sHHH You will definitely need a SD2Vita because it turns an ordinary micro SD card into Sony's proprietary PS Vita micro SD.
I was going crazy with other tutorials until I found this video, thank you so much!!
I took out my vita 2 weeks ago and replaced battery. I realized the Sony 32 gig memory card I bought years ago was faulty and was very disappointed, until this video!! Thank you now I can just download my games and enjoy some new ones. Great tutorial. Thanks you 👏👏👏
6:43
For those who confused because the pop up message only shows "copied 1 folder", after un-selecting SceloTrash/ you need to move up one folder to pspemu/ by pressing up (the text will be green as shown in the video). Notice that his point finger pressed the "up" directional button after pressing square on SceloTrash/. If you are at this point where it says only 1 folder copied, you can deselect all by pressing triangle, and deselect all, select all again, and redo the process.
This needs to be bumped up to the top! Thank you so much for helping me avoid hours of frustration searching through forums.
Dang I wish I seen this sooner..I just moved up and copied again but it copied 16 folders...I hope it didn't mess anything up.
Is he pressing O to select? Would that mean X is to go back?
I found my Vita under a drawer after 5 years all intact. Your guide was awesome and now I am playing Steam link on my Vita :) Thank you

This is great 👍 I never had any issues with previous procedures, but hopefully this can make jailbreaking Vitas a bit more accessible for more people. It really is one of my favorite emulation devices, thanks Russ ✌️
Thank you so much!! I always wanted to homebrew my ps vita. ❤
This guide is a god-tier game changer for me who doesn't have a PC OMG dude you're the best!!! 🔥🔥🔥💯🙌🏻👑
Thank you Ross for the great tutorial. Worked flawlessly and quickly. Since I got my first Vita just a few weeks ago I am amazing by the quality of the screen and the general quality for a 2011 handheld. Sony should have had more success with it.
After changing the prioritized harddrive to the microSD I filled it up with games.
My question: Can I now switch again to the PS Vita memory card (uxO etc) back so that I can also fill up the Vita memory card?
Thank you and thanks to the community in general.
Best wishes
Michael
This process is so easy, I was able to casually do it throughout a Saturday (with stops and starts). Been enjoying a trip down memory lane with Retroarch.
What games can you download though the vita itself without using a computer? Ps1, psp?
@kevintemido honestly no idea, I haven't tried any. My PSP roms are image rips from my UMDs.
best video so far, goes to the point in a few minutes
A few years ago I took a day to completely mod my Vita 2000. It was torture to get the sd2vita to work. I spent all that time and retro arch the app I really wanted to use was broken and would not let me use the vita shoulder buttons. It’s amazing what this community has come up with. I’m gonna give it another try with this guide. Thanks
The fact that I have been home for Christmas break and decided to turn on my Vita again wanting to jailbreak it! The timing of the gaming gods 😂
I definitely recommend that users with a 1000 model vita look into a PSVSD instead of a SD2Vita like you showed. They're definitely a bit harder to use and find, but having sd card storage AND keeping your vita game slot is the best of both worlds. Since they've been out of production for quite some time, I had several made using the open source blueprints via PCBway and they work great! I think it's really the best solution for users who actually have physical vita games that they still want to use and don't want to sacrifice any functionality with homebrew.
I just go into autoplugin and mount/unmount the SD card when I want to play my physical collection
Can you do this w a 2000 model or no?
@@xxjraco You can't even do it with all 1000 models, only 1000 models with a 3G modem which is replaced with the PSVSD.
Lmao vita is haked for a reason 🤣 free games😁
@@VSMOKE1 Why even buy the Vita when the emulator is free?
thank you so much for this! my Vita just came back to life 😆❤
First of all thank you for the guide! Second of all MAN THIS PROCESS IS SO EASY! It beats the HELL out of the old way of modding it via PC! So sick!
This video was brilliantly simple. I got a modded vita, but totally messed it up and couldn’t figure out how to fix it, so I went the route of starting over from scratch. This was a big help.
How did you start over from scratch I too have bought a modded vita but now I can’t figure out how to upgrade the SD on an already modded system
@@rockafellainc.970 not sure what you mean by upgrading the SD card. There's a specific card you should use for the vita. Don't think certain sizes above a certain amount would be compatible.
@@DvonAntonio upgrade the SD CARD in the SD2VITA adapter after it’s all set up on the previous SD
@@rockafellainc.970 ok. Well, if you swap out the memory card and it's all compatible, just follow the steps from the start and there shouldn't be any issues while mounting the new card. This video was pretty detailed. I had 0 issues with getting it all setup.
@@DvonAntonioI figured it out, format the new SD card and then make sure you copy and paste every single file in the OG card into the new one then you can just put the new card in and viola same system and files

Ive been using my vita since 2013, taken good care of it, still works like a charm, now seeing how active the modding community is ive decided to mod mines too. But i wanted to know if modding a vita deletes all of my current games, cause a few games ive been playing for nearly a decade and i dont want to lose those saves. Is there a way to back them up?
for anyone that is having issues not being able to see the memory when plugged in via usb, once you are inside the file manager press the start button on the vita and it will show a menu, scroll until you see usb device and changed that to sd2vita and it will work once plugged in to a pc you will see the full memory, the video is awesome but just in case someone needs this. thank you

Wish I still had my Vita tbh. TearAway was such an amazing game. It's not a hard game by any means. But, if you liked LBP and the creativity of the levels. You'd probably have enjoyed this game. just bought a vita this year and got a sd card and adapter on sale and immediately went here. Very happy
Great guide! A couple of questions: is it absolutely necessary to sign into a psn account? Is it risky to use a primary account or should a new account be generated for this purpose?
Yeah, I'm wondering about this as well. I'm going to do this on a spare system, but don't really have a need to sign in to PSN if it isn't needed
I've had a hacked Vita for years now and nobody's account has been banned for using a hacked Vita. There's no danger using your main account. Still go on PSN, use the store, and gain trophies. The only way I think to get banned is to do blatant online cheating.
I commented somewhere else and they said you don’t have to sign in
Remember when you’re downgrading it to 3.65 to not let your vita sleep, it’ll go to black screen

Mine didnt go black screen but it failed at the end of part 2. How can i solve
I used this method for my psvita TV. It works perfectly. Thanks for the tutorial and your nice websites
@Retro Game Corps, thanks for the video, this really helps on how to jailbreak your PS VIta. I'm still trying to figure out how to install games, such as Nintendo, Genesis, and Neo Geo. Do you have a guide or video on that?
You forgot the part of unchecking auto download system update files. So the vita doesn't auto update back to 3.74. which will break the vita cfw.
The Vita is probably my absolute favorite form factor for a handheld device of all time, and I'm always upset when new handhelds *aren't* just a new Vita (I'm looking at you, steamdeck). This is going to breathe new life into my old Vita, thank you!

TheFlow (know as Total_Noob when he hacked the PSP) is an absolute genius, and an inspiration for millions of programmers.
Thank you Russ.
I have a question. Can I do this without wiping? I have a decent amount of games from the store on my device. Is there a way to save/back those up?
I had the same question for the exact same reason
Thank you so much for this. Gonna be playing Ace Combat 3 JP Fan Translation tonight thanks to you!
came right on time for spring brake!!!
A quick tip: Before starting the process, go to Settings, Power Saving Settings, Enter Standby Mode and set a long time, I used 30 minutes.
This will prevent your vita from going to sleep during some of the long steps such as the downgrade. If this happens to you (I did to me on my first try) and then VitaDeploy fails to start, you may have to reinstall Henkaku and try again
I put CFW on a vita in 2019 and it was kinda stressful. Cool to see it's so trivial to do these days. The homebrew community on vita with people like Rinnegatamante and TheFlow are still killing it with new things you can do on the device.
The Vita homebrew community is amazing, we're close to getting a native Ocarina of Time Vita port this year, and some rumours about some Steam Unity games being ported too.
It doesn't seem like a good idea to link a Vita to a main account for this though. Surely it's better to create another right ?
Thanks! Pulled out an old PSTV I had for my son and something had gotten mess up over time. With no Windows computer around currently I thought I was out of luck. This was pretty easy.
