  • This video details the repair and operation of an Hp 3586C selective level meter. It is basically a calibrated receiver that covers 200 hz to 32.5 Mhz. It measures input signal levels and includes a tracking generator that follows the tuned frequency. Note: At 16:05 I should have said 500 milli cycles ( hz) instead of cycles.

    Did you see any obvious issues on the original A6 pcb, possibly a tantalum cap.

      Hi wa4aos, I didn't notice any obvious damage on the board ( A60 ). The board in my units are different than the ones in my manuals ( A60 revision B ) . There is one 22 uf cap across the supply rail that checks ok. I was surprised there were not that many bypass caps on this board ( many SN74LSXX low power schottky ). Without extender cards it is difficult to troubleshoot live. The manuals are extremely detailed. A lot to digest . This is the controller board containing the processors and ROM. It may be beyond my ability to repair.
