  • Hello Friends,
In today's video, we will learn how to make an optical tachometer using arduino uno and infrared sensor. An optical tachometer is an instrument used for measuring the rotational speed. The infrared sensor detects any movement of the rotating object across it and generateS a pulse. The time between the pulses is measured by arduino and is converted to rotations per minute (RPM). The rotational speed of motors, fans, pumps etc. can be measured using this tachometer. The measured speed is displayed using an SSD1306 OLED display.
