Cannabis and Stress

  • Cannabis is rapidly becoming one of the most consumed drugs in Canada. Many report using the drug as a coping mechanism for stress and anxiety. How exactly do our stress responses change in the presence of cannabis? Does cannabis actually relieve stress? This video considers the stress relieving effects of cannabis as it interacts with our body’s stress reaction system: the hypothalamic pituitary adrenal axis (HPA-axis). Followed by the potential of cannabis for treating chronic and acute stress related disorders. As research continues on the full uses of cannabis, this video serves as an overview of the research published thus far. If you are using cannabis to cope with stress, please do so safely by monitoring your usage, and reaching out to a registered healthcare professional for more guidance on coping with stress.
This video was made by McMaster students Armaan Sekhon, Kriti Manuja, Krishna Patel & Sharleen Maduranayagam in collaboration with the McMaster Demystifying Medicine Program.

I started smoking since my teenage, got addicted to cigarettes. Spent my whole life fighting Cigarettes addiction. Also suffered severe depression and mental disorder. Not until a friend recommended me to psilocybin mushrooms treatment. Psilocybin treatment saved my life honestly. 8 years totally clean. Never thought I would be saying this about mushrooms.

Started to smoke amnesia haze 2 weeks ago my life has changed for the better, all of the things that bothered me, they don't as much anymore, I do not smoke much, very little in fact, and I still reap the benefits from consuming THC. I love it honestly, it encourages me to change my life to a healthier and more prouductive being. My rule of thumb is: As long as you use it for a purpose and not just numb yourself for the sake of it, you are on the safe side of things. I also want to say, that I have been dealing with severe anxiety and vast amounts of stress for the past 5 years, it was hell, but this stuff? It shows me that the world can be okay again, it shows me how much better my life can be without all that anxiety bs. For all those who suffer from this too, please try it out I promise it will open your mind.

Like all things. Everything in moderation. Some people have a glass of wine with their meal daily (mediteranean meals high in olive oil are best) and live for years with no issues. Same goes for weed. Both alcohol and weed are open to abuse. But it's easier to come off weed than alcoholism.

Cannabis consumption will adjust to the need, the more people are suffering (Unable to pay bills, rent, food, go to the doctor, have cancer and not afford treatment) then every opportunity to blaze will be taken. I live on Crete btw, and Alcohol is a fucking scourge. The amount of people with liver damage and people wiped out by drunk driving if ridiculous and that you would even put Cannabis and Alcohol in the same sentence like that....

@@jblazer2492 they need to create more very low THC mixtures for people to get just a light comfy buzz. Getting stoned isn’t a great feeling to a lot of people and turns them off weed. But I believe there is a ratio of 5 to 1 CBD to THC, so around 25mg CBD to 5mg THC that could be a sweet spot where people still feel like they have a functioning brain and feel a buzz. Would like to see products like this come out more.

I do love your video because criminalized cannabis does create problems for isolated consumers. People are experiencing difficulty in managing their experiences with Cannabis because their experiences may involve more difficult thoughts than others. Especially in terms of religious family disagreements or abandonments, but also regular everyday existence thoughts that can overtake peoples minds if their thought processing might be less controllable when it comes to managing specific ongoing stressors.
Pain is relevant to everyone. Mental pains can be difficult, but there are people out there who are in significant pain and cannabis becomes a VERY DIFFERENT tool at that point. Cannabis is for everyone and most people aren’t consuming nearly enough. Most people don’t even realize they are DEFINITE candidates for experiencing incredible benefits to the body from cannabis compounds. Chronic pains are extremely common and without Cannabis, people will seek other consumptions that often become far less “beneficial” or even dangerous to someone’s health and well-being.

However there ARE long term solutions for anxiety. Your mental health isn't something you are cursed with, it's just like your physical health. Even physically weak individuals can enhance their stamina. You can get better.
