Marijuana THC vs CBD, CBG, CBN: What’s the difference? What are health benefits of each?

- Cannabis, also known as hemp or marijuana, has a long history of human use. But lately, the buzz around this plant - and the cannabinoids within it - has increased.
Cannabidiol (CBD) and tetrahydrocannabinol (THC) are just two of the many compounds found in cannabis. What’s the difference between them and other popular cannabinoids and how can humans benefit from this ancient plant?
Industrial hemp and marijuana are the same species, known as cannabis sativa, but here’s the major difference: marijuana has a higher amount of THC, the high-inducing chemical that gets you high. The amount of THC in industrial hemp is so small that the body doesn’t have the same reaction.
Karli Miller-Hornick, co-founder and CEO of Head & Heal, a CBD producer and hemp cultivator in Cortland, New York offered further explanation. “An industrial hemp plant is identified as a plant that produces less than 0.3 percent THC. A normal marijuana plant has about 15 to 20 percent THC in it and sometimes these days you see them up to 25 or 30 percent.”
So, what are the health benefits associated with cannabinoid therapy? Dr. Scott L. Treatman a medical marijuana provider in New York and Florida said, “Taking a full spectrum CBD or THC product can help the human body’s endocannabinoid system reach and maintain homeostasis.”
Homeostasis is a part of our physiology and how we keep ourselves in balance. “Sometimes when we are out of balance, adding a plant cannabinoid can help with mood, appetite, emotion, digestion, inflammation and even immunity,” he added.
The video above explains more fascinating information about cannabis and how it can affect your body:
• Are there other plants that contain cannabinoids?
• How does the endocannabinoid system work?
• How is cannabis processed and extracted?
• What is the entourage effect?
• What are terpenes?
• What are the health benefits you can achieve by taking CBD, CBG, and CBN?
If you are thinking about trying cannabinoid therapy, Miller-Hornick recommends consulting with your doctor first. She says there can be different interactions with medications an individual is taking.
“It takes about a week to start noticing any kind of difference, and we generally recommend taking CBD every single day for a month before making a judgment as to whether or not it works for you,” she added.
i don't know why this video doesn't have more views. this is one of the most informative and easy to follow one i've found.
100% agree w/ you!
Because we know all that
Probably because when the dofus with the bought medical license is trying to say that you can't overdose on cannabis is completely arrogant and not true on many levels and is EXTREMELY dangerous misinformation. CHS, Cannabis Hyperemesis Syndrome is a disease more scarier than any opiote or any withdraw I've ever seen. YOU CAN completely lose the ability to breath and for him to say otherwise proves he knows absolutely nothing and is merely a salesman/drug dealer. There is no such thing as a "safe" drug, it is merely a safer drug if not misused and abused and even then the risk of CHS as many WILL come to find out will make them regret EVER using cannabis for anything.
It’s because of the woman’s voice, it’s awful😂
Madrecbd worked very well for me. I would get a lot of headaches
Weedborn's CBD products are amazing!
I smoked thc for ten years, stopped because of the anxiety, started CBD last week, absolutely amazing for sleep and anxiety.
I think CBD might be the key to keeping THC in check a bit. A two to one ratio, of CBD to THC. And still small dose of thc. So 10mg of CBD with 5mg of THC I believe will produce a better effect for sensitive people. Or 3 or 1 CBD to THC also.
@@justf12 big fan! I recommend Terp Nation!
I have very bad Anxiety which cbd did you get please
Which cbd did you take as I've got very bad Anxiety.sue
@@suebrookes7136 me too, I'm so confused by it all. Everyone says a small bit of thc is needed for it to be effective but how much? I know I can't eat or smoke cannibis without it giving me enormous anxiety and paranoia..even a puff of it gets me to a bad place. But is there any value in just cbd oil without thc? Its not legal to get thc in my country, its just basically hemp oil and you have no insurance of how much is hemp/ cbd and how much is just cheap carrier oil.
This is very informative. I am 65 and I started with 500 mg CBD Oil in March of 2018 every day. My joint pain from old injuries disappeared and I sleep great. It allows me to exercise and stay active. Peace and love to all.
500 mg for a single dose ?
I use 20 mg 🤔

@@RJ-lk5pjyeah, that is a hefty dose of CBD the OP is using. I wonder how much 500mg costs? I am using 25 mg daily and when I miss a few days my knee let’s me know as does my back/sciatica. In UT, you can buy 30 gummies of 25mg strength for $30.00 USD in the dispensary.
@@msemmahale4608 the shown active dose of CBD is around 600-700 mg, if you’re using it medically and want it to really work, that’s what you’re looking for. most CBD products aren’t nearly enough to be effective

Cool to see that Weedborn has new products.

This was one of the most informative videos on this subject I've seen so far. I would really love to see a video on what effect CBD, CBG and CBN have on certain psych meds. I have asked several psychiatrists and none seem to know or don't want to discuss it. I honestly think this would be breakthrough information for so many on psych meds and need pain/sleep/inflammation meds as well.
As far as I know, I do not believe CBD conflicts with western medicine practices or therapies. I make CBD dog treats and it does not interfere with dogs and cats that are on other medications. But after the animal being on the CBD trea for a little over a month, they are no longer on the vet medication :)
...it is a breakthrough. However without Federal legislation to remove it from schedule one of the controlled substances act, traditional medicine and institutes will be loathe to approach it until that's taken place.
I'm a veteran with PTSD, and although the VA has made public press releases regarding the use of medicinal cannabis in PTSD veterans, the truth on the ground is this:
I went into the Department of Veterans Affairs with my medical marijuana card and let them know that I'm interested in Mental Health Services there but the conversation will not be able to include me removing cannabis as a medication regimen, in lieu of benzodiazepines, or other sedating medications (some of which are antipsychotics being prescribed 'off label'. I was told tha5 they can't sanction it...even with a card recommended by a physician not bound by Federal Law. Additionally my admitted cannabis use even in this capacity has landed a note in my medical record as having a "substance use disorder"
The problem runs much deeper than not being able to approach qualified medical personnel with questions about it that are useful and relevant to what's occurring today. It more often steeped in prohibitive stigmas and poorly understood science from 30 years ago that has aged atrociously
My personal experience( I have depression, am not on any of their drugs) is that CBD intensifies my depression. THC helps relieve it, but ultimately leaves me unmotivated to do things I am not interested in.
So stop needing to have your hand held and find out. We don't need medical professionals to chime in to get results. Cannabis is an individual right, and all I see here is ppl pretending like it has to go through some kind of committee before we can fully trust it. BS stop it. All this stuff does is complicate the process. Cannabis isn't some kind of hippy plant that we have to fame over. It's a dam plant that will do what it does and all this nonsense is for ing it into a category of controlling from ppl who have zero business controlling it. The idiots. Humans have a way an out them that makes everything mysterious and convoluted, it's easier than that. And we should be absolutely embarrassed at our need to fixate on the "magic" over the commonsense aspects.
@@chetsenior7253 well that's you. My wife suffered from extreme ptsd, depression, anxiety, she has been on 4 xanax bars a day for over 10 years and it effects her completely different. This is why I hat that humans feel the need to ask ppl what their experiences are in order to find out for themselves. All this dose is make it complicated and creates this wall that we have to constantly break down. Cannabis is to be free for all and should be a one on one basis without any medical intervention period. Your brain will dictate what you experience and unless you are a conjoined twin we don't share brains. Not being mean just being honest.

Warms my heart to see that people are finally realizing the medical purposes of marijuana. As the man in the video said. Can't overdose.
Dr. Oh says different: czcams.com/video/QYCkVjdgDqQ/video.html
You should visit Norway. Norway still has social death penalty for cannabis. If you as much as talk positive about cannabis in Norway they will strip you completely all human rights from you and you will be socially isolated by the entire Norwegian population who’s been successfully brainwashed to believe a cannabis smoker equals to a heroin/coke addict child kidnapping mass murderer.
It's my understanding one can overdose on THC, unless the doctor I was listening to was wrong.
@@jajohnson7809 you can overdose on synthetic THC. But in order to overdose on natural THC you’d need to consume 1500 kilos of weed within an hour. The brains auto-system that keeps your longues and heart automatic is immune to natural THC. But the synthetic THC produced in laboratories are extremely dangerous and can kill you. More and more natural weed gets laced with synthetic THC in countries who have not legalized it so it’s a very dangerous trend going on right now.

Great stuff Karli! Super stoked! Help me deliver the word...
We have to know the differences between these cannabis compounds to get to know them better and have enough knowledge to impart to others. We can also know what cannabis compounds are best for us.
Got to give cbg a try for my cluster headaches.
It has helped me tremendously
@@virginiawilson4615 do you smoke it?
There is better research behind psilocybin mushrooms for cluster headaches than CBG. Not enough research about CBG to determine its Efficacy in specific conditions outside of neurological degenerative disease. Now this is only something one can test through trying. I recommend looking for a cultivator that makes high CBG products or with testing information to find out. One company I like is green lotus hemp for a full spectrum extract, but if you want CBG isolate it will be harder to find. Good luck!
How was your trial? I am using CBG for the first time, today. Be Well! 🌎

Well done… I will be sharing this.
Unfortunately I live in a state that still criminalizes even medical marijuana. We need to legalize cannabis federally and get past this ridiculous prohibition.
Luckily hemp products are 50 state legal!! That’s correct you can legally order top quality products for dirt cheap on the inter web and have it shipped to you look into it and do yourself a favor and order today. If your looking for thc they also will ship low thc weed to you kinda a gray area look for type 2 cannabis
Thank you for this information
Just learned about CBG from a smoke shop can't wait
I have OA in my neck and knees. Also 9 pinched nerves in my neck. I take cbc/cbd in the morning and cbn/cbd at night before bed. It works wonders. I was amazed at the difference in my sleep with just 10mg cbn at night. The pain/anti inflamitory effect of cbd takes a bit to work, usually 3-4 days but it only takes 1-2 days to notice when I stop.
How many milligrams of CBD do you take?
I just started giving my dad gummies that have 25mgCBD 4mg CBN 2mg Melatonin and he was able to get off heavy opiates like fentanyl that he’s been taking for 20 years with 7 back surgeries, now he’s all natural! Hope ya get better bud!
Do you find CBD OIL therapeutic as well?
@@annap1191 Yes to a point. It's not strong like taking tylenol but it's more of a general inflamation and pain reduction. It takes several days to start working but will wear off if you miss even 1 day.
My body has since adjusted to the CBN however. 50 mg of 5-htp works great though for sleep. Oddly enough, 5-htp increases seratonin levels which inturn do reduce pain some also.
@@youngnutsack17 Sorry, just saw your reply. 30-60mg CBD depending how bad I am that day.

Indeed
Very good video!! Well done!
One of the biggest mistakes that I believe the current cannabis industry is making is prioritizing THC levels and minimizing levels of the other cannabinoids such as CBD. This is primarily why we are seeing the rise of people developing cannabis hyperemesis syndrome, which is where heavy users develop uncontrollable vomiting. Yes, THC provides a pleasurable effect, but too much of something is always going to be a bad thing. Products that have equal amounts of THC and CBD, known as 1:1 products, tend to provide much more beneficial effects because you have CBD present to modulate the negative effects that can arise with THC consumption. There are even products that have double the amount of CBD to THC (sometime 5:1 or higher) that have their benefits, especially for new users. I firmly believe that the industry needs to prioritize growing strains that are more resemblant of the natural strains that were around before human bioengineering and cross-cultivation came into play, because those strains are much less likely to produce negative effects on people.
Great video!
Helpful, thank you.
Outstanding in her field of pollen
I quit drinking cold turkey 5 days ago. Cant smoke weed cause of randoms at work. I picked up a jar of cbd/cbg nugs and have been grinding them and throwing them in my ladies old volcano from back in the day.

Nice presentation, very nice presenter.
I recently tried gummies with 30mg CBN /30mg of Delta 8. I also took a 100mg CBD gummie. It felt like the first time I got high 19 years ago.
My anxiety vanished, just like the first time I got high. I felt euphoric. I really think CBN might be the missing link to get your "like the first time" feeling all over again. Of course in moderation, because tolerance made the effect lessen.
Yes! Thank you! I recently starting using CBN. The oil dosing contains about 8mgs of CBN, 6mgs of CBD, 2mgs of CBC, and 0.1mg of THC, per the COA. After about 45 minutes, I’m actually able to get sleep on a midnight shift schedule lol. I will admit, if my sleep is interrupted and I get up for a drink of water, I do notice a mild sedating buzz, with a bit of heavy limbs, but there is no “high”. It works as well as a benzo IMHO, with considerable less risk.
Of note, I tried the oil with 3mgs of Delta-8 and it was super relaxing, but I then had trouble getting up for work 😂
I kinda prefered smoking aged (older) cannabis and it's probably because the THC oxidized into CBN. Older cannabis isn't as fragrant though
@adayinforever and @eyesofadream, do you have a brand name of these? Trying to find something with the right combination but haven't found a product that I'm really happy with yet for sleep and pain.
I miss those first stoned highs. I remember when I first got high, my friend made a joint and we smoked it in the back yard! He lit it and I can still clearly in my mind remember that tea smell as the smoke engulfed us. I noticed how time was going in slow motion and and it felt like 15 minutes passed before I got in the house even though it only took 40 second's lol and i saw a Conveyor belt and muppet looking creatures and I looked at the sky and it looked like a puzzle. I never experienced that same high again.
There is no such thing as the first time or like the first time.. It's called the power of suggestion... another words it's in your head... literally !

.... the Spanish American colloquialism "marijuana" has been used by prohibitionists, the ignorant and uneducated for a little more than 120 years ... in 1753 the Swedish botanist Carolus Linnaeus renamed the common hemp plant Cannabis Sativa L. , the "L. " is in recognition to Mr Linnaeus' work in botany aka plant science ...!
Hi there! I have a question on CBC, I know it's another major cannabinoid not mentioned in this video, but since it is non psychoactive and has similar structures to some minor ones I would just like to know the safety on it since research is still newer
I'm now hearing cbn in the marketplace.
It’s been out for a while now.
Why?
I've just got a cbn from abroad
I do it so differently. First decarb then I do a alcohol extraction. Then I add the alcohol cannabis mix to the coconut oil .the heat in oven at around 180up to 200F ( already decarbed no need for extra heat.
Heat until alcohol is evaporated. No filtering with cheese cloth. I filter the alcohol through coffee filter .
Now I have infused coconut oil to make gummies or what ever.
Also when mixing oil into recipes that have water in them you need to add some sunflower lethicin to the oil first so they can mix together or your oil will separate out .
I live in the Syracuse area and would like to purchase products from you. I have used products from Humboldt's Cabinet and Exhale Wellness. Where are you located? Do you have an on-line store and are your hemp plants organic?
Waiting for your next vid now - any plans?
The ethanol is a fat solvent. Cannabinoids and terps are fat based. That’s why it works. It takes all the lipids. So winterizing is another eta to get rid of the other lipids you don’t want

Raphael Mechoulam is often referred to as the "father of cannabis research" because of his pioneering work in the field. In 1963, he successfully isolated and elucidated the chemical structure of cannabidiol (CBD), one of the primary non-psychoactive compounds found in the cannabis plant. A year later, in 1964, he and his research team were the first to isolate and synthesize delta-9-tetrahydrocannabinol (THC), the main psychoactive compound responsible for the "high" associated with marijuana consumption. He has the answers to all your questions
There are other researchers who still identified and independently isolated cannabinol way before then, in the early 1940s Lord Todd in England and Roger Adam's in US as referenced by Mechoulam (1973 & 1998).
Good option as so difficult dealing with doc if yiu can even get appointment to see doc
CBG and CBD seem to work the best! I tried this new one CBC and wasn’t in love; the incred-edibles blue raspberry/CBG gummies indica make you feel like you’re laying on a cloud, it’s as if you took a strong pain killer, it’s crazy.
Which is best for pain.
Great value info, however, I found the background audio to be unnecessary and distracting. Just my thought 👍
Viewed literally hundreds of weed videos- best one by far- very clearly presented with basic explanation-I now realize I need CBG to have the full spectrum effect-well done! Hoku seeds is the best option.
What ethanol is used? Thnx
I wonder how they figured out the processes for the various machines? I'm curious too how they keep the plants from being stolen
I hadn't smoked marijuana since 1973. I went into a legal recreational dispensary yesterday and bought the modern genetically modified reefer stick. So, I went home and smoked about an inch of it and then it put me into a horrifying world. I hated the feeling I once thought was so cool. Tonight, I only took about 6 inhales and it irritates me again. I tore the remainder up and threw it in the garbage. Now that I'm old, I just find the "buzz" annoying.
