Bennie and the Jets performed live at Elton's iconic concert at the Hammersmith Odeon in London December 24 1974. Enjoy this version without the timecode!
Elton always said he hated performing this song , possibly cuz he had to put so much into it vocally, but what a voice and song and musically unbelievable
@@spideyfanboyactually it’s because of a mistake that Elton John did while recording the song. He hit a chord on the piano before the song started, it reminded the producer of when singers would hit a chord before the song starts to tell the people here we go at concerts, so he decided to fake live the whole song.
During his career as a popular performing artist "in the spotlight", there was not ever a "before the drugs". There was only an "after the drugs" and an "after QUITING the drugs". He's a great performer because he plays live, can improvise, sings great, he connects with the crowd because he's good and therefore feels free and not because he's wearing something and moving energetically. Besides 1970-72 he also dressed and moved according to his music. 3. There is no Elton after drugs, because he was no longer young at the time, already 43. Elton John has a genius level of musical talent. That was great when he was singing in his normal tone of voice, then switches it up into a falsetto voice.
