@@spideyfanboyactually it’s because of a mistake that Elton John did while recording the song. He hit a chord on the piano before the song started, it reminded the producer of when singers would hit a chord before the song starts to tell the people here we go at concerts, so he decided to fake live the whole song.

During his career as a popular performing artist "in the spotlight", there was not ever a "before the drugs". There was only an "after the drugs" and an "after QUITING the drugs". This performance was filmed during an early point in his ascension to his HIGHEST(😉) point of his career as an ENTERTAINING performing artist (i.e. "after the drugs"). When he began to phase out and lower the shock value of wearing all those truly cool, asthetic, gaudy clothes and the typically humorous get-ups, when he began the decline of his use of body language/energetic performances on stage - which is also about the time he stopped writing fun songs and the songs we started hearing (more often than anything else) are love ballads, serenades and songs for film soundtracks (i.e., "after QUITTING the drugs").
That being said, if you're enjoying this, you're enjoying Elton John WHILE ON DRUGS/"after the drugs". If you TRULY believe that the drugs had a significant effect on his music releases and stage performances (which, THEY DID) and you want to enjoy a SOBER/"after QUITTING the drugs" Elton John - go listen to "The Bitch is Back" and listen only forward, chronologically. IF you do that, please post a reponse to my (this) comment on this video to state your perspective opinion afterwards. Whether your perspective opinion changes or not, I am just curious.

@@oNe_SoNg 1. In 1970-72 you can see that he is not high.
      2. He's a great performer because he plays live, can improvise, sings great, he connects with the crowd because he's good and therefore feels free and not because he's wearing something and moving energetically. Besides 1970-72 he also dressed and moved according to his music.
      3. There is no Elton after drugs, because he was no longer young at the time, already 43. So he made the appropriate music and behaved like that
      4. Everyone was on drugs back then, so he's still the best musician 😂 So I don't understand why there is always talk about drugs when there is a great live video of Elton John. untalented people get so angry sometimes, I hope they don't die of envy

@@enta2 You've misunderstood my comment and/or my perspective. Though, I'm also not understanding of something myself - your unreasonably defensive, judgemental, passive aggressive statement towards the end of your comment... who are you referring to, what caused you to feel the need to express that, when will it be useful, where did you spot a cause of envy in this thread, how do you feel now? Better than before? Lastly, why were you so ataken back by my comment? Would you like me to delete my comment, for you, Sweetie? I'm not so envious that I wouldn't do that. Just say the word and I'll spare as much of your feelings as I still can, very quickly. That's a talent, right?

It's funny how this song is actually about a group (you may never have heard of before?) called The Elton John Band and how one day they just happen to wake up and started playing Glitter Rock! Sort of the way in that rehearsal video where he does Your Song like he's playing it in a pub. Bernie happen to write a song about a Glitter Rock band called Bennie and the Jets. The next thing you know it was actually The Elton John Band in real life. I guess he probably got the idea from the Beatles doing Sgt. Pepper (the way they were actually considering changing their name to Sgt. Pepper's Lonely Hearts Club Band) when they hadn't put out a new album in six months. Hence that's why it was even put onto the bass drum in the first place!! By the way is that the first band logo ever to be on a bass drum??

Hey, kids, shake it loose together
    The spotlight's hitting something
That's been known to change the weather
We'll kill the fatted calf tonight
    So stick around
    You're gonna hear electric music
    Solid walls of sound
Say, Candy and Ronnie. Have you seen them yet?
Ooh, but they're so spaced out
    B-B-B-Bennie and the Jets
Oh, but they're weird and they're wonderful
    Oh, Bennie. She's really keen
She's got electric boots, a mohair suit
You know I read it in a magazine, oh
    B-B-B-Bennie and the Jets
Hey, kids, plug into the faithless
    Maybe they're blinded
    But Bennie makes them ageless
We shall survive, let us take ourselves along
Where we fight our parents out in the streets
To find who's right and who's wrong
Say, Candy and Ronnie, have you seen them yet?
Ooh, but they're so spaced out
    B-B-B-Bennie and the Jets
Oh, but they're weird and they're wonderful
    Oh, Bennie. She's really keen
