This guy has an amp in his throat to have such a voice
Someone was clearly a bit generous with the bass knob on the vocal EQ 😅
Now that’s a grown man!!! Wolfman Jack!!! 😝🤘🏻🎤
Agreed
Have you ever thought about doing voice over for commercials? You definitely have the voice for it man.
haha. that's what I thought about it too
it's all about the eq
He has the voice of "Hollywood trailers". :D
He kind of reminds me of Mr Plinkett from Redlettermedia.
Yeah he has a really deep bass "vocal fry" thing going on.
As an adult it just blows me away that the kids these days have so many music production tools at their disposal via the personal computer. A decent PC, audio interface, guitar and some know how, sky is the limit.
We're broke

Wow, your voice is butter. You’re the Morgan freeman of shred.
This guy should be the narrator for How It's Made
lol
lol. dat name and picture dude. hahaha
You're only saying that because of the compression he's using on his voice. The compression makes it sound "radio like"
I think he should also be an editor for them
@@Smubbs can you do that on everty mic? if yes how?
Your voice through your mic is the best audio I've heard on here.
GR△△VENICS What mic is it?

+GR△△VENICS New Optimus Prime?
Or as he pronounces it, "the best oddio"
You're only saying that because of the compression he's using on his voice. The compression makes it sound "radio like"
Great video mate and you're a natural with the voice over work!
Sorry, voice over is not "natural" much too much bass equalized...tiring
Coming back 3 years later to say thank you dude, this vid started it all for me!
No it's pretty shit amp sims don't sound real lol
@T3KKANッ yeah
@@xoxo-pp7ru have you heard any of peripherys albums lol
xoxo it’s more for recording lol
Same here man.
This is something that I was really looking for. Thanks for taking the time to show and teach us. Cheers
Dude, you are the MAN! This is incredibly informative and it sounds pretty organic for having to go through so much processing. I played through a buddy's computer set up a long time ago, but I remember there being quite a bit of latency, to the point that I'd get completely confused while attempting to record or loop anything. With newer technology and a way better computer, I think it would be more comparable to thousands of dollars in unique set-ups. Thanks!
This is by far the most helpful video I've ever watched to learn how to use your PC with amp simulation. Concise. informative, and visually helpful. Thank you very much for making this!
Video is from 5 years ago but still very relevant and helpful today, thanks for this
great voice for radio !!!
I was thinking a movie narrator
made my dick hard too
There’s a good amount of bass in his voice added with the recording of it which really brings it out.
You're only saying that because of the compression he's using on his voice. The compression makes it sound "radio like"
Jordan Curk The “radio voice” is also reliant on his own vocal tone, pitch, and enunciation, but yeah it compressed as fuck
Damn this is a great video. Perfect amount of information to get up and going, with clear and concise explanations of what you're doing and why.
So well done, so thought out. What you covered in 10 minutes will benefit so many frustrated people. Drivers and hardware can be SO frustrating. Fabulous job!
Simple, straight forward and to the point. Exactly what I was looking for as I have no idea what my son needs and neither does he LOL. Looked on CZcams most of afternoon for a demo that did the basics and told the story that needed to be told without all the mumbo jumbo. Great Job!
Very nicely done Steve. Your knowledge is amazing and I could never hook something like this up. LOL. Sounds fantastic and the set up flawless. Great microphone sound you are getting. Rock on!
Thanks, Tony! This video had to happen. My first attempt was the WORST! lol
This video explained everything i needed! I've been searching for days to find these answers!
Finally the video I was looking for. Everyone else is busy doing demos, but you went to the trouble to help people set it up from scratch. Thank you!!!
Wow 9 years later and still the best explanation of the focusrite. Recently got a 2i4 and your video was a lot of help. You are still the man
Wow dude. Amazingly thorough video! Nice job.
Thanks, TK! I'm still cutting up your visit. I've had no time lately. Soon!
Would you be offended if I say "I get a full erection when I see the TONELAB" sorry if you are, but it's a compliment chub
Another guy with a golden voice 👍
Thank you!! I did exactly as you said and it worked flawlessly! The ASIO and DI box tips were huge for me! You took all of the intimidation out of using amp sims for me!
This helped a lot. I couldn't remember that I needed to select ASIO to get the amp to work. Very detailed, but easy to follow video that hits everything. Thanks!
I'm dying of laughter because of the minimum requirements for the pc.
We've come a long way lolll
@@halfrican7393 Not really this was laughably bad even in 2014 and if it wasn't for AMD's recent push in the CPU department Intel wouldn't even be selling CPU's with more than 4 cores on the consumer side. The only major improvements for computers since 2014 has been GPU's.

Thank you Steve... you have the voice, pacing, knowledge, talent, teaching skills... You are the best...
You Sir, are a Boss. People, if you pay close attention, alot of complex concepts have been covered in the simplest way possible, this video is gold.
Incredibly helpful. Literally went from no clue to hell yah I can do this! I’ve been looking at modeling Amos and expensive multi effects pedal, but this might be a better idea!
I been playing for longer than I care to recount and lately I got a lot of time for youtube. I've seen your channel before and thought, "does this guy have nothing else to do?", and never gave a listen. I caught a few of your chibson vids, then reconsidered, now subscribed and watch you more than anybody else, I really dig it! We must be about same age, same music likes, and I went out for a set-up like this - jeez, now I want to be like him! Life is strange. It's on the way so I can't wait to crank it up! Keep on keeping on.....
You're the only guy on the planet who shows you what u need and how to hook this up...thankyou!
For me, who will start playing Guitar after a 14 years break, and wants to use the PC as an "Amp", the best Video i could find! Easy and clear explained, Thank you Steve!
Don't know why more people don't do this. Needed a portable quiet option to rock out and this is the perfect tutorial! Thanks!
You've got a hell of a radio voice man!
Awesome video. Surprisingly this is one of only a few videos I have found that cover this specific topic.
dude thank you for this. been looking for videos for a while and havnt found any as good this. ive been wanting to set something up like this for a while. very informative and very helpful!
If someone still read this. Delay does not come from slow computers, but low quality soundcards/audio interfaces. Maybe both. But a good soundcard/audio interface can give you 2ms on the slowest shitty computer (worked in the early 2000s for me with a low end pc)
Good to know :)
cpu processes the all the information from the external or internal sound card especially in a daw, so it does matter. maybe you had a decent cpu back then or your settings were on cheapo mode. meaning low quality hz and bits and buffering. you can make your sound quality playable but low quality and get lower latency.
@@seerking 192khz @ 24bit is not the highest, but not the lowest either. And my CPU was the cheapest/slowest that time.
Would a focusrite solo be good? i7-7700HQ CPU.
Thanks man, needed to know this
I'm sorry, i couldn't focus because of your voice. Damn. Dat bass tho
I've shared this video with several people. Well done and simple for the uninitiated but understandable. Nice job.
thanks for the effort and time put into the video man, it really helped me wrap my head around everything and get a good idea of where i need to start
05:40 "that's not good". lol the voice is amazing.
I needed to know one more thing Steve how do you go about connecting the focusrite to a mixer? I also need to know if I use a condenser mic would put that through the mixer or the focusrite. At the moment I have the M-Audio Delta PCI interface sound card it does work but I can't use my condenser mic when playing guitar at all because my audio signal seems to be the same for both mic and guitar. I tried to change it but it when I do I can't hear anything because it needs the selected default input and output.
The reason this is happening is because I am using a standard stereo receiver which connects from the receiver to the sound card interface. I have to do the same for the mixer the the DI-box is connected to the mixer so is the mic I thought I could route the signal but it looks like I can't. The sound from TH3 seems to affect and distort the mic very badly so it looks like I will have to go with the powered speakers to solve this. I can't find a way to to make this work when using a mic. without the mic it works pretty well but I need both do you think I will need the focusrite as well as the speakers ?
As someone just looking into recording this is the ultimate video! Gonna pull it up again when I have my equipment ready to go.
Thank you sir, for clarifying some questions I had on setup with the AI and Computer. Very detailed and like these people say, you should definitely do voice overs for something!
This is literally everything I need to know in this video
You have actually solved an age old problem I have had with my 2i2 and that is the fact that even though my gain is all the way down, my guitar still clips the signal.
The mention of the DI Box has earned you a new subscriber!
I do love the other videos I've seen before this. Keep rocking, brother!
DI boxes are the unsung heroes of guitar players everywhere. They're great for playing live too. You can really crank your amp the way it was meant to be played.
Oh my!! This is the best tutorial I've seen...all the right info in one video...clear and concise.
Steve, Thank you so much for making this video and for all the help you give to us all!
Dude....hit your local radio station up. They need you. Lol
great demo. your voice sounds like the presenter on a tv programme called: "the fbi files"
BEST EXPLANATION of this topic I have ever heard, and probably ever will. But so was the previous video, even though you were off focus and you were way off focus. Thank you for sharing your knowledge with all of us!
AWESOME VID! About time someone explains all the things and steps needed to get up and running! Bravo!
Your voice sounds like that feeling of listening to old blues whilst drinking whiskey
Has that free amp simulations video he's mentioning at the end been posted ? Because I'd like to hear what he has to say about it and I can't find it anywhere on his channel. Thanks !
I know this video is ages old but this answered literally ALL of my questions. You rock!
Great awareness in improving your production skills. Thank you so much for the very informative video. I love how you standpoint you stop the babble and get down to it. great job!!
Thanks a lot for this video, I subbed instantly. Amazing stuff, and very simple to follow steps. Just one question, if you have the time: if I plug the guitar through the PC and I also want to run a backing track (on my PC) along with the guitar, do I just play both of them at the same time and get the results? Or is there anything else ot it? (I'm green as grass in this kind of matter). Again, thank you kindly for the help!
That can be tricky. It depends on whether the software places an exclusive claim to the audio hardware (it seems most do). That's why getting amp sim software that can load an audio track for playback is a serious consideration. But that's only if loaded in "stand alone" mode. If you use something like Reaper as the VST host, then it's a non-issue because you can just import the audio into Reaper on another track.
Thanks a lot for replying! Does paid software have the same problem? I wouldn't mind paying a few bucks for an amp sim that would let me do that. If that wouldn't work, what exactly is Reaper?
It seems like they all do. It's very hit or miss. The amp sim wants to control the hardware exclusively to get the best performance. Reaper is a Digital Audio Workstation. Just look up "Reaper DAW" on Google and you'll get all the info. It's free for 60 days, but then you have to pay. It's not expensive, though, it's like under $100.
Thanks a lot!
I have figured something out. Amplitube sends the guitar to the focusrite which i listen to from its headphone jack. If i want to play along to a track or youtube i select the focusrite as my default windows playback device and then the computer and guitar comes through the headphones. I change the default back if i want to use the computer's speakers again.
is it recommendable to rely on this amp simulators alone for the whole time practicing and playing the guitar? i kind of not wanting to buy a real amp
yes
Awesome information. You packed a ton of information exactly what I've been looking for in a short amount of time. Very well put together and presented. That you so much. Actually i thought the 2nd generation fixed the problem with the pickups being to hot, at least that's what it says!
Dude, i've seen this video some years ago, but goddamn, this DI stuff was helpful these couple of days!! Big thanks mate
Hey man, thanks for making this video so clear and concise. I've been researching exactly how to use an interface but most videos are vague and not 100% clear.
If you get a 2i4, it has a 10db pad.
My only question is, is that an Commodore Amiga 500 on the shelf behind you?
This cleared all i needed to know very quickly. Amazing tutorial mate, thanks.
Thank you! I haven't recorded since my early 20's in 2007 and am getting back in the hobby game and this gives me a great starting point!
Does anyone know if I could use my amp as a speaker by connecting the interface into the amps aux in?
Yes

Very helpful video. Clear instructions and the tips on buying used are appreciated. I finally got my Scarlett 2i2 and software setup correctly. I do not record at home, but I use the set up for audio file playback to practice with. I use headphones into the 2i2 and the guitar into the DI box into the 2i2. Do you have active pickups? If I'm not mistaken, active pickups put out a line level signal, so you'd just need to flip the switch from instrument to line and it'd be fine. That's how it works on my 2i2, anyway.
