Thank you so much for the video!! Much love ♥
Thanks for the info!
I use the same Audio interface (Scarlett i212) - but use the free DAW (Cakewalk) which basically works very similar to Amplitude. It's been a great way to supercharge my guitar with different amps and effects. I suggest buying a good set of headphones and some nice studio monitor speakers. I'm also using the DAW to record my own music - which has been a big learning curve (but there are plenty of CZcams resurces to help). I paid about USD$600 for the full setup and I love it.
Great video man, thanks for the info!
Thanks Christian!
The Scarlett 2i2 is a great recommendation Kurt, I had one myself! I have also found that most affordable 2 channel interfaces will do!
Yeah! There's a lot of memes about the Scarlett lol, but most anything will get the job done!
Great video with a succinct tutorial, Akatsuki approved!
Haha thanks man! Hoping to upload soon again! Life is hitting me hard lately!
great video, just what I was interested in ☺
Awesome, glad to hear it!
thanks!
ive been looking for a few months and didnt know there were free softwares!!! tysm.
You’re welcome! 🤘
I think it's pretty dumb at this day and age that you can't just play through your PC's sound device. having to futz around with ASIO is such a pain in the ass when you've got a nice set of gaming ear cans that you can't use. you gotta unplug them and them stick them into your interface. it's frustrating that no audiophile/PC expert has integrated the two. Amplitube is awesome if I could just output it through the bloody HDMI audio device on the monitor, PC speakers or my Steelseries headset.
I hear ya there, definitely it’s a pain to deal with all that extra stuff. I’m a bit surprised that they don’t make computers with built in soundboards of higher quality that could even have input jacks right on them. Maybe someday!
Scuffham S-Gear is also very fair priced and does not offer a ton of amps, but 5 really good ones. I think that is preferable over tons of amps you will not actually use. At least I am happy with S-Gear. I use the internal effects (more are coming) as well as some external free or affordable effects which I run through the free version of Cantabile as a VST-host.
Haven't heard of that one but sounds like an excellent option! 👍
@@kurtisparker . . . Scuffham S-Gear is a great stand alone as well as a vst plugin for your DAW. But keep in mind that, unlike Amplitude 5 CS, it is not a free amp sim. The price is $129, but occasionally, it will go on sale for $99. Is it worth it? I think so.
Cannot get amplitude to work. Shows my DAW in the settings but all i hear is the pre-amplitude signal. DAW is a mackie onyx
I have a boss katana. I was told I could use it as a speaker when hooked up to an interface. Basically just play through the amp. I don’t have speakers for my pc, I’d like to do this…. Can you help?
Is it possible to record video through the audio interface using iRig Recorder and Amplitube through my laptop?
I'm having some issues with the quality of the iRig video recordings on my iPhone.
thanks!
Great video. However the question is whether you need studio speakers or any kind of speaker. In my case i have a soundblaster X Katana soundbar for my PC and i am not quite sure how the sound quality will be
I’m pretty sure you would just need to hook up that sound bar to the output of whatever interface you’re using. That might involve some kind of adapter.
Just looking to start playing guitar from absolute zero on a tight budget. This helped a ton since i cant really get a loud amp in a 5 family home😂
Glad to hear it! You can save a lot of money (and avoid eviction 😂) by playing guitar this way and investing in a nice pair of headphones instead!
Thanks..great vid.. Are there cheaper interfaces that work? and what are you playing out to? Just computer speakers? Can you play out to an amp?
Thanks PD! This behringer is super cheap right now www.amazon.com/BEHRINGER-Audio-Interface-1-Channel-UM2/dp/B00EK1OTZC/ref=mp_s_a_1_4?crid=3MWO36XUGSCQ5&keywords=audio+interface+for+pc&qid=1678074890&sprefix=audio+inter%2Caps%2C176&sr=8-4
Remember that is only one mic input and one inst input.
In this case I actually recorded the audio straight into a DAW (music softwares like Ableton or logic).
You can link your interface to go out to an amp for sure! (I haven't tried this yet but I know it's possible.)
@@kurtisparker Thanks. Thats great! What are you playing out to? Can you play out to an amp through the headphone jack or some other port?
@@pdlegend6829 So in this video I am just playing out through some studio monitor speaker, these are connected to the output of the Audio Interface. So you can definitely play through the headphone jack of your interface!
What do you use for a speaker or speakers? This is where i get confused. I get the interface, and the software/PC. But now i want great room sound. What do you recommend? Like the volume of having a 4x12 cabinet. Or can i use my EVH cabinet i have now? Just bypass the amp??
Sorry man I've seen your comment for a while now and have been thinking of an answer. The easy part, I use these monitor speakers that I hook up directly to my focusrite...

In order to use your cabinet I know there MUST be a way. You would start with the speaker out from your interface and just take that to your amp....input I suppose? I don't have the experience there but I'm sure that someone has made a video doing that very thing. Thanks for watching! Hoping to add more content in the new year!
I am trying this for so long, the only problem i have i cant play guitar trough amplitube and play youtube or Spotify at the same time. This problem is frustrating the sh!t out of me. Do you have any suggestions??
Hey man, thanks for the video. I'm thinking about purchasing scarlet 2i2 instead of the amp. How do I connect scarlet with the speakers? Will it be scarlet's output into the speakers input or vice versa?
You would most likely connect interface to the computer and the computer the the speakers, under input you would choose interface and put up as the speakers you have connected
Ok. But what about speakers? What speakers should I buy with this combo?
can`t find clean download link
hi Kurtis. Can you use an existing guitar amplifier to output the sound via the Scarlett device or should it be standard speakers / headphones only? I'm using an Orange Crush and there's loads of feedback coming through.
I definitely have not tried that. So your set up is guitar -> focusrite -> amp In theory that should work but as you have discovered you might encounter extra noise. I think the best bet overall would be to use monitor speakers that hook right up to the scarlett.
What I wanna know is what internet are you using. It was super fast!
Haha! It's called Greenlight, it's a new fiber optic company.
My amplitude is reading the guitar but there is no audio through my headset?
hey mate i followed all the steps but i'm not getting any sound just a humming noise. my guitar is plugged to my interface, interface is plugged into computer. I selected everything correctly but just a humming noise. Same thing happens when i tried to use bandlab.
Hmmm, maybe make sure the instrument button is pressed and lit up. Then make sure you turn the gain knob clockwise. When you play now it should hopefully turn the circle around the dial green. Otherwise you may need to reinstall the drivers on your computer. I hope this maybe helps. I always go to reddit if CZcams doesn't solve my problem! 😂
one question : if you insert both headphone and main output..will the both work? or headphone just cancelled output to main LR after inserting the headphone?
As long as you have the dial turned up for both volumes (big dial and little dial) then both will work at the same time!
Do I also need a Speaker or amp? Through which I will hear the guitar?
You can have external speakers that connect to the output of your interface OR just go to your computer sound settings and make sure that output is set to computer speakers/headphone jack…whatever you normally hear sound from.
My guitar sounds good with an amp, but when I use an audio interface it sounds like a 10$ guitar with absolutely terrible quality. I don't know what the issue may be, the guitar and cable is good as it works with an amp, the PC is a beast and maybe just the interface isn't good (UMC22 Behringer), but reviews seemed good. Any thoughts?
Sorry to reply so late! It could be the interface or it could be drivers that aren't updated totally. You can try to search for the asio4all drivers that are free. Hopefully that might do it. Otherwise you might just need to tweak your gain/volume to make sure the signal isn't clipping.
Do you know if you can play a youtube video and guitar at the same time with the Scarlett 2i2 4 gen? Only thing holding me to buy it. I have a umc22 and want to upgrade.
You mean like plug guitar into computer and then play with CZcams like a backing track? You can absolutely do that! So long as you have speakers plugged into your focusrite!
@@kurtisparker thanks brother
Should the gain settings etc. on the sound card be the same as the values in the amplitube program?
It doesn’t have to be. On the focusrite, as long as your gain doesn’t blink red then you are good. Then use your ear in amplitube for the gain setting there. If it starts getting crackly and poppy then your gain is too high.
But to answer your question more exactly, they don’t need to match exactly but they’ll probably be somewhat close.
@@kurtisparker thankss
the sound that comes out of my monitors before recording is not the same sound that plays through my headphones or the sound I hear when it is recorded and played through the monitors or headphones. In fact, the monitors pre-recording kills my guitars tone, making telecaster pickups lose their twang and p90 pickups lose their growl. Weirdly enough, If I crank up the monitors, the tone finally shows up, but this is not the case when I play a guitar recording where I can hear the tone of my instrument at low volumes. I have the Focusrite claret. I'm sick of menu diving, so I think I'm gonna get an amp. Disclaimer, I have not watched the video; I've been using recording equipment for years.
Red box 24Bit/196kHz 2-Channel Audio Interface - $29 , on Temu
What if i don't wanna revord and just wanna play guitar? Can i do that too
Yeah so what you want to do is google search “standalone guitar amp software” I made a video reviewing a great free option.
what are your thoughts on the iRig? I wanna use something easy, and simple while I'm on the go too.
Yeah the iRig is awesome! 👍
@kurtisparker it will work with amplitube? I'm getting that.
@@HeyHammadAusafi Yes that should work roughly in the same way as the Scarlett!
@kurtisparker alright. I'm gonna try it out. BTW this sounds dumb but I lost all interest in piano. Should I keep my yamagata psr e323 keyboard or sell it if I'm no longer gonna use it? And how much should I sell it for? I only like my Gibson key Paul studio guitar, the only thing I jam to and use when producing and mastering music lol
Sorry I speak too much, I have autism so I apologise if I'm being rude
i followed the video and the its picking up sound on the audio bars but i cant hear my guitar
Audio output should set to speakers of your pc
Would this work with an electric acoustic guitar with an input built in?
Yes definitely!
Does this setup work with bass guitars?
Yes it will! You'll just need to find a bass amp sim online so that you can make it sound nice and beefy. Also make sure that your speakers/headphones are capable of reproducing the correct bass frequencies.
I'm faced Latency Issues with Interfaces. Input Focusrite, out put THR Yamaha. Any solution on this issues.
Sorry to hear. I am not familiar with the THR, my focusrite hasn't given me latency issues. You could perhaps try the asio4all drivers instead of the Scarlett ones. Perhaps that's somewhere to start.
Why would you want to plug the audio interface into a guitar amp, instead of into a computer? That way your signal chain runs through 2 pre amps. Asking for a friend
@@SebastianS72 Hi. I put my Guitar to Focusrite then computer (PC) then Yamaha THR as sound out put or PC sound monitor. I just want to try different effect and amp head sound in the software.
A long chain, if you think about the signal way. I think you connect the THR via USB to your PC, right? That driver might perhaps be the problem. When I got me a DAW, I bought an audio interface too, because trying to record with my Marshall Code didn't work too. Marshall don't deliver an ASIO driver and ASIO4ALL didn't work with my DAW. Perhaps with your Yamaha it's similar? To monitor the DAW effect and amp modeling, I would try to use the focusrite too. If you don't have Studio Monitors, connect head phones directly to the interface. That should work better
I didn’t get the prompt for the stand alone executable. ANNNND my download says it will take 87,000 hrs not the best at math but that’s like 3,000 days. Wtf
Oh man! What is your internet service like?
OK FINE Two questions:
1) I can barely hear my Guitar Even when all is on Max Level. I can hear very loud noise but Guitar is still quiet
2) I can use my Spider amp to play with CZcams backgrounds but when i want to play through interface i can’t hear CZcams
What interface are you using? Do you have cables going OUT from the interface to speakers? Or do you have speakers that are already going out from your computer?
umc22, nah it goes like that: PC - interface - guitar and headphones.
How do you turn on a pedal mid song? Gotta stop playing and click? 😂
Haha yeah there isn’t really a way to do that in real time. This sort of thing is really only for recording purposes. Although im sure you could program a usb footpedal to change things hands free.
where do i plug my guitar in?
If you’re using the focusrite it goes into one of the front two inputs labeled 1 or 2. And most other interfaces will have a similar layout.
This is your sign. Don't give up.
Thanks man! This is very kind 🙏
how or were do i get presets to download that are of famous songs, guitarist etc.? def leppard, evh, robin trower, ted nuggent, jimi, stevie etc?
Hey Jeff, sorry I haven’t replied. In most cases, tones like this will come at a cost. Is there a certain amp simulator you are using right now? Sometimes people will create presets that sound very close to an artist and then they will share them online.
Dude WTF is wrong I keep getting this when trying to install Amplitube - "The download path you've selected does not exist, you do not have permissions to write to this location, or there is insufficient space in the current download path. Please close this window to select a new path or clear up some space. (code: 108)" . there is no folder for IK in my documents how do I get that folder created ? or what else?...
Hmmm that sounds tricky. I would start by deleting everything related to IK and amplitube, uninstall any program if its there, and try a fresh install to a location that has more than enough space. Hopefully that might help!
@@kurtisparker dawg ty so mutch ive had this problem for a long time
@@walterfifco3103 Oh sweet, I'm glad that helped!
My question is how are you listening to your guitar?
So, do everything in the video and then plug headphones into the headphone jack. The Scarlett has a separate volume knob for headphone level. Turn that up and you should be good to go. If you want to play out loud, then you will have to play through speakers connected to the back of the Scarlett OR select your computer speakers as an output device.
I cant hear myself play
What is your output set to in your computer sound settings?
Something else to think about, you can also plug headphones into the headphone jack of the interface if you have headphones with the quarter inch jack (they also make this kind of adapter.)
I am going to use a USB equipped amp instead of an audio interface, because every time I ask "would this work, how would it work?" people just tell me not to do it, buy this interface, buy that interface - it's annoying to ask a simple question and be told some shit you already know.
I didn't ask if I SHOULD do it. God forbid anyone experiment or sate their curiosity.
"Just buy this, just configure like this - here's this youtube video that everyone follows blindly where somebody spells everything out for you"(no offense intended). It's kinda a shame that a lemming mentality pervades the guitar sim software crowd, which is why ya'll been cranking the gain for years before somebody started to question it.
Yeah this should definitely work! So long as you direct the usb signal into whatever program you’re running (ableton, protools, amp sim) then it should work in the same way that an interface does!
WHERE IS THIS FREE? I CAN'T DOWNLOAD IT! iLT'S ALL A LIE!
Yo!
I hope this link gets you closer, let me know if you still get stumped.
