I bought an 09 Avant at auction very cheap. Insurance company had totaled it out because the sunroof leak and then it must have been shut up for a long time with a serious mold problem as a result. They classified it as a "biohazard" but it cleaned up easily. I found this video as the only practical solution to the sunroof problem. I had what I needed to completely fix the car on hand, plus a lot of time to pull the headliner to access front and rear drains on the panorama sunroof. You helped me make my car worth thousands more than I paid for it! It's now been several months of a rainy winter and it's been 100% dry. One trick, after coating the outside of the drain tube put silicon sealant inside the connector and then after putting the drain hose back in place, run an old ethernet cable through to clear a hole for the water to drain and it leaves the sealant covering the leaking part on the inside too.

Thanks for the info bud. This could explain Why I had ice build up on the footrest of my 2013 Audi Allroad when I had it parked
@@owengillott6701 thanks for the reply. Did drivers side corner, seems to have worked so far. Finding it difficult to add silicone over the black nipple connected to sunroof under headliner, bad access and a hand full of silicon isnt helping. Do you have any advice as how to get to the pipes in the rear sides, ive being looking in manual, looks like it comes down the rear seatbelt trim piece? Thanks for the reply btw!
My sunroof unfortunately isnt working (cant see the point fixing it where I live) so I cant silicon and clear the hole as adviced in a below commet. Never buying a vag car with a sunroof again lol. Thanks
Sunroof drains can leak at the connection points, but what the real issue is - is the sunroof cassette. VAG cars use this across their range and its junk and leaks like a sieve. It's a hug job to replace unless under warranty.
I just peeled that part of the roof back and left the rest of it attached. So I had to hold it as I was working in that area. I started around the lights and central console and then moved to the outside and just hold it down as I was working in that area. Hopefully this answers your question let me know if you have any more
How did you get the headliner apart from the roof without damaging it? I believe the sunroof drain is clogged on my front passenger side… went to vacuum my car and the floor mat and floor was completely soaked under weatherproof mats. Water is dripping to the right and behind glove box. Thank you
Did this solved the leaks ? I got exactly the same issue with a left hand drive A4 Avant. Both sides are leaking and the passemger side is exactly like in your case. Only mirrored due to the steering wheel position.
I have the problem at the exact same location, when I put water down the hole of the sunroof the water comes out at the door so it isnt jammed or anything. Could what you are showing still be the problem?
Leon de Krosse yes. Mine was the same as that too. There might be a slight crack at the top and even thought the water if slowing through it could be a few drops dripping around the outside of the pipe.

I have to same problem in to same place, i try to do it. Thanks
what do you have to do to get to the hose you are lubricating? Are there any clips on the trim?
Hello, can you explain please how you disassembled only that part of the roof to do the job ? Thank you

We used some hard plastic pry bars like bicycle tire levers. No damage and we jst poped out the one corner.
@@owengillott6701 awesome, thanks for the reply!!
How bad was it to get to the drains?
