We are blessed as niners fans to have such a humble yet strong leader as a GM. What him and Kyle and the rest of that front office and staff have done with the niners is nothing short of amazing. I hope his legacy as a niners GM is just getting started! Nothing but love and respect for John Lynch. What a role model.
Out of all his accolades, and he has many, you left out 3 important facts:
1) With the Bucs John Lynch and Mike Alstott had a no hitting each other rule implemented by Herm Edwards for the safety of the entire solar system.
2) In a game he once knocked out cold his brother in law (Mrs. Lynch's brother) who played TE for the bears.
3) Used his helmet like a weapon probably more than AJ.

It's crazy to think, this is how smart Lynch is AFTER using his head as a blunt weapon of warfare for a decade. Imagine how sharp dude was before 10 years of taking heads off

The difference in personalities between this and the Poles interview is night and day. John has so much charisma, it’s hard to hate the 9ers

I'm from Jersey (Passaic), so when he mentioned Craig "Ironhead" Heyward. I knew exactly who he was talking about. Yeah, that man was a beast when he played for Passaic High School. God rest his soul 🙏.

49ers are very lucky to have him as the GM. They find studs to fit any scheme they want to do and it works. It's unreal how tactical they are with their picks each year. Trey Lance was a major bust but they couldn't have predicted all his injuries.

I've been a Bucs fan since the late 90s and John Lynch is my all time favorite player. Watching him knock people's heads off with that legendary late 90s Bucs D was incredible. His nickname within the defense was Friendly Fire because they were all trying to avoid the missile flying up from the secondary. Definitely a HOF human!
John Lynch is the best! I’m a Broncos fan and it makes me so sad that we hired Vance Joseph in 2017 and missed out on the possible Shanahan/Lynch duo. Glad they’re both having success in SF though.

Great interview! Very enjoyable.
In the past there have been many coaches and GM's that did not get along with each other, Shanahan and Lynch have managed to help each other put together a team working together. Today GM's have to help coaches get the players they need to fit their system.
We know that score all too well. circa Jim Harbaugh and Trent Balke. Hated each other, Jed was a young owner / exec at the time and so went with keeping the GM resulting in Harbaugh being canned. Then begins the 4 coaches in 4 years circus. Jed learned his lesson, and made sure when he hired Kyle that there was going to be a GM Kyle could work with.
I met John in the pit at a Morgan Wallen concert last summer in San Diego. As a huge niners fan I had to say hi and he couldn’t have been cooler. Took a quick pic with me and then left him to enjoy the concert with his family. I hope he’s our GM for the next 25 years. Awesome dude.

Ironhead Heyward, Rod Bernstine, Marion Butts, Jerome Bettis, The Nigerian Nightmare, Barry Word, Natrone Means were all dominating power RB back in those days. In Tecmo Bowl, if you ran Rod Bernstine dive up the middle, there's a 70% you'll get a TD. It was when Emmitt Smith and Barry Sanders came into the scene and changed the game forever.

I imagine the story of the current 49ers organization is very similar to the movie Moneyball, except instead of runs they focus on character
As a niners fan, I feel like I speak for many other niners fans when I say that I honestly trust Lynch even more than Shanahan lol. The man always has a plan, and for every swing and a miss, he has an absolute piss missile home run. For every Reuben Foster, there's a Fred Warner, for every Trey Lance, there's a Brock Purdy, for every Kinlaw a Bosa, for every Pettis a deebo. Lynch just GETS football. Personally, I feel like Kyle can sometimes miss the forest for the trees. He can get lost in the sauce, he can lose the plot and overthink. I feel like Lynch NEVER over thinks. Honestly, I am low-key terrified that Jed might get fed up with Shanahan and can Lynch cause he wants to clean house. We have this stacked team because John Lynch has been fantastic every step of the way as the brain of the entire operation.
If we had John Lynch instead of Trent Baalke when we had Jim harbaugh, I think the niners win multiple super bowls
naa...Jed continually giving them contracts should tell you all you need to know about how Jed feels. He's not interested in the Harbaugh / Balke 4 coaches in 4 years circus again.

Mistake #1: $34 Million to Trey Lance in advance and 3 first round draft picks for a guy we couldn’t really get around to seeing because of Covid.
Mistake #2: Getting stingy AF with the guy who’s taking you places.

Furthered by his comments of “We had our eye on him and liked his prospects”. C’mon man, you took him last and stuck him in a rookie contract with no stipulation that if the other two get crushed then he gets paid for starting and risking his neck every Sunday. Jimmy G had it in his but maybe it’s because he wasn’t a rookie and there’s a rule about it. 🤢
@@djohnspangler all rookie contracts are already set in stone by NLFPA. Which scales according to draft position, and can't be adjusted until they have 3 full years in the league. Because Vets need to be protected and stuff. LOL

@@nadjasunflower1387all these rules were implemented to prevent a player from holding out on money. Not sure if this also helps with how Eli Manning got drafted to prevent holdouts from a team drafting you.

The 49ers let the entire NFC down with their Super Bowl loss to the Chiefs. NFC was UNDOUBTEDLY the better division. SB choke job. Should have been eliminated in the Packer game.
