Larry talking up undrafted players is the kiss of death for them.
Aiyuk *IS* an elite route runner. Stop with the narrative that Purcell was drafted because the Niners lack route running. Issue is that Aiyuk's routes are longer developing.
IMO, the 9ers felt they could get better vs playoff defenses in 2 ways. Either 1) Improve their offensive line to allow Aiyuk's deeper routes to develop or 2) Have a much better short/medium route runner when Deebo isn't 100% (Emmanuel Ancho quoted a stat that w/ Deebo, YPP was 7.1 with, 5.7 without Deebo). The quality of offensive linemen at 31 weren't there compared to the ability to grab a better Short/mid level WR.
Everyone keeps calling Pearsall a “luxury” pick and I disagree.
I think the 49ers receivers struggled in the SB and they needed another weapon in the middle of the field. Outside of Aiyuk, they don’t really have a pure WR that can beat man coverage consistently.
I also think they are going to go to more 3 WR sets this season, hence why they aren’t investing a lot at TE.
Their offense got a lot better with Pearsall

My surprise was no Kool Aid, or Rice or Gore. The heritage pick was missing. The splash for the fanbase was needed. Put Gore with McCaffrey, he will soak it up.

Pearsall might be the most athletic white WR we've ever seen. Not that his skin color matters but we've seen some damn good white WR's and for him to potentially be the most athletic one is bananas. People really are sleeping on that pick. I do feel like he should gain about 10 pounds of muscle at least though
Mason needs to play. He's such a beast! Doesn't pass block? Either does the right side of the line. Mason will get every 3rd and 1. We have no short yardage back. That's Mason.

Kyle & John took him as more a Guard/Center.
Drafting for upside is a mistake; the league consistently gets it more wrong than right. Draft for present demonstrated ability and see if they can take it to the next level.

😂 Last yr draft is still a question. KR Moody (not Robbie or money yet) n SS Brown (Hufag injury, but they brought back Logan, Niners didn't trust Brown?) . TEs Latu n Wills still unproven. LBs Winters n Graham not ready? (Greenlaw injury?). ED Beals flashed. CB Luter still unproven. 3 UFAs O-line signed. Only 2 made practice squad. 1 UFA D-line made practice n 53 roster. 2 UFAs RB signed, none made team. Coach Turner might have an eye for RBs, but not since the 1st SB in Kyle era, have the Niners drafted or sign a UFAs RBs of note. Sermon, Price-Davis, Mitchell (good, but can't stay healthy), Mason. Head scratcher draft this yr. A slot/ gadget WR in 1st rd? Could have traded down like Bills. Not a Deebo replacement. Besides WR Cowkng coild play the slot/gadget WR. The Niners weakness is O-line. Ranked #20-28th. Williams on last legs. Issue if not playing. Center, right OG n OT are avg. Brock's mobility n his pre-snap or quick decisions saved the Niners O-line. Chiefs drafted a speedy WR, Niners counter is not O-line or D-line or DBs. A slot WR? Chiefs played man coverage to reduce Brock's ability to do pre-snap reads or get rid of the ball quickly. Deebo no a great man coverage beater. Having more targets might help Brock. But so would a better O-line. Chiefs DTs will still dominate the middle. Niners need more impact from drafts. Brock was great. But Trey cost the team 3 st rds players. Niners/Kyle favor vets. Not sure how many rookies can make 53. Hard to tell if college talent will transfer to pros. Defense, the strategy is using re-treads and/or trades to fill needs. Unknown if always works. Last yr Defense ranked #12. Couldn't stop run. GB n Detroit lit them up in playoff. Even Cards ran 200+ yrds on Niners. Niners/Kyle needs to play backups more. Give backups more experience n opportunity to show talent. Also rest starters during season, unsteady of waiting for 1st rd bye. Crazy move? Did Niners trade picks with Chiefs, so rival could draft an OT. Helping rivals? Not sure, which rookies can make 53. Niners are in SB window. May prefer vets starting (like Oliver over Jamieson). Numbers game for rookies. Hope, Niners found some diamonds in rough. Getting back to SB is tough. Offense didn't change much (slot WR?). Defense changed more. D-line n secondary. But is it good enough to stop Mahomes n company, let alone the rest of NFC, like Packers or Lions or Rams or Cowboys or Eagles or etc..

The offense changed a lot with the Pearsall pick. It tells me that Kyle plans on running more 3 and 4WR sets and that's a good thing IMO because it gives everyone more space to work with and the o line won't have to pass block as much

Krueg and Chase. Read this comment and remember it. I am one of the most accurate eyes for talent in the world. I'm not one of these people who brags, and I only say this because this is my hidden talent and I could rival any GM, period. With the same access to film, interviews, etc,I would be nearly unstoppable. Anyway.. you're wrong about Legette and Pearsall is a far better receiver and choice. Cowing could be Antonio brown if he has the desire and he improves on his catch percentage. If he continues to drop passes, he might end up in the dog house, but he is better than Danny Gray who I told BayareaBaller a couple years ago wasn't impressive. I was right about that and he wasn't. Those were two very good picks and I just hope Shanahan uses them well. Puni is a guard and has less upside as a tackle. Malik is a project and I wasn't as big of a fan overall, but he still has potential to be very good with coaching and experience. You're dead wrong about Geurendo. He is capable of more than being a fullback and if he has the desire, he could be an offensive weapon. Their Oline sucked and having a big body puts him at a disadvantage. Also, he could be flexed out at wide receiver. His vision is better than people think, he struggled because that line couldn't open and maintain blocks well. If used properly and with a good line, he could be a very nice chess piece. Evan Anderson (undrafted) sucks will be cut, most likely early on. I disagree, he can't hold his position well enough and has very little else to offer. I like the QB, but he isn't quite Purder in several ways, but he still has very nice potential and can improve. I like green, but they need to use him to his strengths and I'm not certain they will. We'll look back at this comment in a couple years and I will almost guarantee I will be accurate .

So Kyle just can't use Mason like a true rb He needs all these gimmicks and schemes. Kyles little tricks will only get you so far.
Kyle doesn’t trust Mason because of his pass protection. There are no gimmicks in the 9er running game. Probably the most physical team in the league.
If mason is out there teams know they're gonna run because he can't pass block.

If I leave youtube on and Larry Krueger of Chase come on talking about draft picks, I feel like vomiting. First off, even if you don't like the pick, Pearsall was not going to last 5 more picks. Forget what your so called experts say, he was being taken in that next flurry of WRs, Watch the video of Bill Belichick predicting who the 49ers would take and why, before the 49ers picked. He said they would take Pearsall because of his skill set and he was the best blocking back of the WRs in the next group. So stop the BS. Also stop with the Renardo Green being a 3rd or 4th round pick. If Elijah Jones from Boston College went in the 3rd then you know Renardo is going soon after the 49ers pick in the 2nd. Forget what Mel Kiper says. NFL teams actually talk and send scouts to see players, Not worry about their hair. Also you have a problem with Pearsall because you say he is frail, but you are ok with the receiver from Arizona (who is frail). There is a world where Pearsall is the best receiver on the 49ers right now. There is a world where the playbook just added 100 more pages because of Pearsall. There is a world where Kyle got tired of having to deal with Kupp and Puka, so he wanted to cause other teams problems in return . And remind me when Deebo and BA didn't miss games, and we could not win because of lack of skill at the WR. So maybe they did not think Kingsley or Rosengarten was any better than McKivitz. But in any case none of the 49ers first 5 picks were taken too soon. For God's sake don't be a sheep.
