This is part 25 of my ongoing Porsche 924 Restoration. In this one I'm rebuilding and restoring my starter. It looks really bad but it looks like someone was in there before me as brushes and copper bushings were replaced. Solonoid wasn't original too. It was working but I ended up replacing it anyway.
    Thank you for watching!

It’s also incredible how well you have the plating setup dialed in. I have the same kit and I NEVER got this good results 🙈

I sometimes get bad results too. Not sure why.... maybe solution is a bit contained by now. I'll try a kit from another company soon and see how it goes.

I also think parts need to be squeaky clean for best results

I plan on dealing with rust and painting the whole body this summer.... then start putting some parts back on it. Thank you for watching!

Was there a double cable setup between the generator and the starter solenoid? like a thicker and a thinner one (2.5 and 4mm2 if I'm correct)

I would have to double checke but some of the cables I removed in the begining were connected to the alternator.

I think you made a mistake in washing in bath bendix. There is a mechanism which should be greased inside.

    Hey,
Nice video, can I know where you bought the solenoid ? I search for the reference but get a different one (with differents connectors)

An 85, you must be in Europe. Too bad, I have lots of parts in better shape than what you have it seems. But in the US.

Thank you for watching, Kevin! Yep, I'm in Europe. I'd rather restore what I got then buy parts in better shape though. But will need to buy some parts that are broken beyond repair on mine such as exhaust manifold, camshaft, some body parts etc.
