      I'm a big fan of the.45 Colt round and I've got a nice model 25 Smith and Wesson in the.45 Colt love it

      @@Jeff-sl8xzI've always wanted a S&W 25, but I have a S&W 57 and I just can't bring myself to spend $1100 on another N-frame. I do have some single actions in .45 Colt, though.

    Not all gel blocks are the same. Watched another tester test this round out of a Ruger and it stopped at 14 1/4 inches. Its damn good ammo in 45LC

    Solid info. Bet it open when fired from a lever gun.
    Betcha the 225 frx Hornday round will work.
    Thanks for these videos.

    I just checked Gun Sam. He tested Buffalo Bore 225gr LSWCHP and got 17" and expansion to 0.526". You might want to try some of that as it might be just what you are looking for.

    Time to test the Hornady 185gr. Critical Defense in .45 Colt 💥
    ... it has a polymer-tip , intended to
    address the "plugging" problem .
    * not "bonded" like Winchester PDX1 ,
    so it may shed it's jacket

    Who wears 4 layers of denim? Try one layer of denim, one layer of shirt and one layer of t-shirt.

  • @douglasanderson9566

    You could try these I would like to see the results. 45 COLT (LONG COLT) 135GR. XTREME DEFENDER by underwood.

  • @patmancrowley8509
    @patmancrowley8509 Před 10 měsíci

    Penetrating 4 layers of denim clogs up the hollow-point so no expansion. No expansion means penetration through the block.

    I find Winchester to make some of the best defense Ammos as a whole..

    Try, ( if you can FIND them ) Glaser safety 'slugs' in .45 Colt. If over penetration is the concern. Designed to NOT overpenetrate.

    I have some of these , good to know video, still wouldn’t want it to hit me , recently got into the cowboy action and from what I’ve seen is you better be into reloading if you want .45 colt to shoot

    If you can use moon clips in that gun and fire 45 ACP, then try the 185gr +P. Either way 45 caliber hole isn't bad w/o expansion.

      Different headspace setup. The only ambidextrous ones are the Redhawk and the convertible SAs. You could approximate it by making that level of handload in Starline's new .45 Cowboy brass; it has a 45 ACP body and a 45 LC rim. And 45 AutoRim is a different animal altogether.

    Interesting video. What's the hottest round you've shot out of your Smith?

    • @tacticalheretic9105
      @tacticalheretic9105  Před rokem +1

      Before I bought that gun I read up on it, and everything I read said it was not like a Model 29 and to not run hot loads through it, so I've only put standard pressure loads through it, both factory and handloads.

  • @richardminer1863
    @richardminer1863 Před 7 měsíci +1

    Gel is not very representative of a human body, no bone etc. Gel is more like shooting thru fat, not even muscle. And who wears 4 layers of denim? Maybe 2 layers if your shooting someone in the ass wearing jeans and hit pocket area.
