Greek Myth in a nutshell: "High on Olympus, the goddess, Hera was furious. She just discovered that (insert name of woman) was pregnant by her husband, Zeus"
At this point. I wouldn't be surprised if Zeus managed to get men pregnant aswell
most of gods and heroes were made by zeus and a woman
NO MYTH - All True
any woman
@@slothymetis3395 Zeus is the Father of All Souls
and once again in greek mythology, we start the story with Zeus cheating on Hera lol
Zeus push Hera to become evil
Zeus is just like he's father Kronos
Like father like son
@@user-sh2nv6vz6l WE KNOW!!! 🙄😒
Actually they were conceived before they were married, because *they took part in the war against Kronos* and Zeus and Hera didn’t get married until after. That means Hera cursed them from inside of Kronos’s stomach.
@@user-sh2nv6vz6lyep. That’s usually the reason Hera does these things.
@@kingtigertheheavy2708 Wrong! The only child is Ares. Hephaestus is fatherless, like Athena is Motherless.
I like how Hera always tries to take revenge on the people Zeus cheated with and not on Zeus himself .Also how every time Zeus doesen't do anything to help his mistresses or protect his children.
She did tried once in a myth , when Apollo, ares and herself conspired towards Zeus but he find it out, though I think it was made out by Romans and not Greeks
@@shuiwu3439and then he hung her by her ankles from Mount Olympus until she promised not to do it again. And Zeus dont help no woman, unless it means hes gets to bang her.
They're his one night stands 😶 it's actually quite amazing they get pregnant every time he bangs them
@@bananasunshine Zeus has a lot of seeds and they are divided he'll even take the form of a peacock just asleep with the lady
He does try and protect his children somewhat
"The goddess Hera went berserk" that line actually resumes very well most myths about Hera.
In the New 52 Wonder Woman Hera finally gets what she deserved from Apollo. She cried about being a powerless mortal while Yahshua already understand on what is like to be a mortal and still took all the burden of the world in his shoulders.
Artemis is the goddess of the moon, the hunt/hunters, childbirth, wildlife and wilderness.
Apollo is the god of 11 things...light, the sun, healing/medicine, plagues, arts, music, prophecy, archery, truth, poetry and science.
actually ... Artemis is not the goddess of the moon . she is the goddess of the moon light and Apollo the god of the light
Selene . is the goddess of the Moon in the Greek Mythology ، and Helios is the Titan and the god of the sun
@@akiraamv1657 Helios is roman tho not greek.
@@michaelwhitmire9015 Helios is GREEK! Sol is Roman
I want to name a daughter Artemis, but I would have to persuade the husband first. XD
The narrator didn't mention that Artemis helped with the birth of Apollo, and interesting tidbit. Also in other versions, python chased Leto while she was pregnant. Well, done regardless.
Zeus: Oops, I did it again, I can't help it, I have an addiction
Hera: And because of a vow I made in a previous myth i'm not allowed to blame the one responsible, so I guess i'll just blame the victim instead of offering my help to get away from my terrible husband
Well she is the goddess of marriage so she can’t really do anything about it unfortunately.
@@greyworld6242 True, but I don't get why Hera doesn't help Zeus' victims and say something like: "It's not your fault, he does this all the time"
but instead she says: "You are somehow responsible"
@@haakontherayquaza4046 she has anger and she can’t take it out on who’s actually responsible so she has to go for the next close thing.
If you keep all that anger and rage in then it can become something very bad.
It’s all unfortunate.
@@greyworld6242 Meaning that it's actually Zeus' fault, for not keeping it in his' pants and for not providing an emotional outlet for his' wife when he can't keep it in his' pants
@@haakontherayquaza4046 Because sometimes it's hard to tell if his lovers were actually forced into bedding him or were complicit in their affairs. Besides as the Queen of Olympus she no doubt wants to ensure her own children are given power and prestige as Zeus's offspring and not have to share it any of their dad's bastards.
Do you think there's a reason why so many mythological figures are children of Zeus? Like, maybe, their cults were originally separated from one another, so, when they merged to form the main Greek mythology, they ended up with multiple "sons and daughters of Zeus"? Or, like, their original father was long forgotten, and, since they HAD to have had a father, they just thought "oh yeah, the father is Zeus"?
From my research, the number of children (illegitimate or otherwise) the gods produce equates to their strength. Zeus is the most powerful, followed by Poseidon who also conceived many children (just not as many as Zeus)! 😅😅😅
Nah, it’s just because zue couldn’t keep his pants on
Being children of Zeus gives them clout.
Because for a king to say they are the son of the king of the gods have their rule some legitimacy. Sometimes being a man of exceptional ability was enough to ensure a stable rule. Other times it doesn't hurt to boast of having divine blood to make a ruler seem greater than they were.
@@promo8140 Not exactly (even if it's a recurring theme yes). For example Hades is a powerful god that just didn't cheat a lot, most of the time Persephone was enough for him.
Leto was a titaness, not a goddess. It was Apollo's voice that led his mother to the island of Delos where she could give birth, and after Artemis was born, she became a midwife for her mother and helped deliver her twin brother.
Titans are gods, they were not a different species. Leto was worshiped along side her sons, she had the same appearance as other gods, was imortal, so she was a goddess, she was a titaness because she was a heavenly goddess (she was a grandaughter of Ouranos), but not a Olympian (only descendants of Cronus are Olympians). Also sometimes, especially in earlier poetry, it was the island of Delos itself that called Leto, because the island was the goddess Asteria, sister of Leto who took the form of the island to escape Zeus.
I named my kittens Apollo and Artemis, and they're so close together and always play. Apollo is a ginger cat and Artemis is a mix color (but mostly black).
Cute🎉
I always wonder why it was only Apollo that went after the serpent and not Artemis even tho she's the goddess of the hunt
i guess the only answer is that he is a mama's boy
Maybe because she wasn't strong enough, i mean Apollo is called the strongest son of Zeus so that might be it. Or she was just more focused on hunting animals and didn't want to anger a monster that had tormented her and her mother since her birth.
It could be anything really.
@@shailali9386 Nah, Apollo probably gained muscle after chasing his love lives around.
@@stupidwarriorkitties ouch
@@shailali9386 Artemis was better at archery than Apollo and she does take revenge on enemies of her mother. Simply this adventure was reserved for Apollo who would establish the oracle of Delphi in the place he killed the serpent. Artemis was also the only one to whom Apollo would listen to.
Hera didn't need to punish every mistress and illegitimate child, just her husband.
She couldn't because of a vow she made.
Just as well, then, that she did not punish every mistress and illegitimate child and that she did, in fact, ignore the vast majority of women and children associated with Zeus. As for punishing her husband... he is more powerful than her, so not much she can do there.
@@omniavanitas7893 Granted but still, she could have left him or had someone else to care for her.
@@queteimportaa.2535 Still though.
@@roguejester4986 when being the wife of Zeus is such a central part of her identity, leaving him temporarily is possible and she has actually done this more than once, but a more permanent separation is hardly feasible.

I love Greek mythology and all mythology really it's so interesting!!! Why do school don't teach mythology often!?
Honestly im in my sophmore year and i have to wait after next year to even DO it. I think its because of all the... well we can blame zeus i'll say thar. But i also think its not as important so thats why its not teached

The island of Delos was a actually Leto’s sister, Asteria. She turned herself into an island to get away from Zeus.
Correct me if I’m wrong, but Leto is a titan, not a goddess
Wrong Leto is the daughter of two titans and first cousin and lover of Zeus and she is a goddess not a titan
She is the Goddess of motherhood
Titans are just older generation gods anyway
@@daniellynch5527 Sometimes they are called titans too, Prometheus is usually called a titan, but he is also a titan descendant in the same way as Leto.
She's technically called a goddess more than a titan.
0:33 Wow both Apollo and Artemis are born!
1:43 Zeus give them a bow and arrow from Hephaestus.
2:18 Apollo against Serpent python and defeated now sacred temple would be built there in it's honor. Great story!
The story of the twins Apollo and Artemis I love it your the best
Great to hear an another Greek story from you
Hera is forever punishing those whom were involved with Zeus. Most of the women he laid with, aren't at fault. Punishing the other women won't bring her any satisfaction or change the outcome. It is truly sad.
Thank you for putting all that together so succinctly! (I know I have much more to learn, but this was so helpful!)
It's really ashame that we never get to see these 2 in God of War series, considering we used Artemis's weapon in the 1st GoW and Apollo's bow in the 3rd game, and also Apollo is a major God figure in GoW:Ascension
Fun fact is that while Lato was giving birth to Artemis, it was easy and not painful, but giving birth to Apollo was way harder. It took her nine days to give birth to Apollo, meanwhile Artemis would help her mother (even though she was a newborn somehow she was able to help her mother).

Greek mythology is so chaotic and twisted. Tells one a lot about Ancient Greek culture.
Wasn’t Apollo born before Artemis? And in Greek Mythology Apollo was known to be Zeus’ firstborn son while Artemis was his second born daughter after Athena.
Yes and Artemis after being born helped her mother give birth to Apollo. Also the twins were born on different islands because Leto was being chased by Pyphon while she was in labour.
@@barbiquearea yes, eventhough Artemis didn't married, she was known as goddess of childbirth
The replies saying yes are very strange lol. No Apollo wasn't born first, as the others stated Artemis was born before Apollo and helped their mother deliver Apollo.
Isn't Ares, Zeus's first born?
You know how those myths get changed around
Nice video thanks
Classic Greek mythology story beginning be like : "Once upon a time, high in Olympus, Queen Hera was Furious on her husband for cheating.... " and the story goes on

In my marvel universe series show Apollo (and Demeter) getting snapped by Thanos (among the other 50% of the universe’s population) ends up turning Greece and its neighboring countries into a cold wasteland
Can you cover the Roman gods without Greek counterparts?
The Etruscan myths?
Great illustrations
I’ve read Greek myths and they all say Apollo took years to defeat Python; as he was still a new god.
When I did a course surrounding Greek Mythology, I got tired of knowing that this or that God was the child of Zeus
Well the myth says delos was lito’s sister (transformed into island to escape Zeus) so in order to give birth Zeus put columns around the island to stop it from moving around so she could give birth there.
It was Asteria who was her sister, and the one who became the island.
@nocontent59subs right? So her sister Asteria and her were both being gone after by Zues, so Asteria (titan goddess of the stars) turned herself into an island. Because it was technically a Goddess and not land, she was a safe place for her (only) sister to give birth, and find safety.
