I was at the grand opening of the Tamale Stadium in 2008 and got to see a Cup of Nations group stage match there. Great stadium except for track around the pitch and the food vendors outside the entrance were good.

Accra sports stadium was initially name after ohene gyan but because of stupidity , tribalism and fooling some foolish politicians i.e. the NDC change it back to accra sports stadium that he is not a Ga so they will change and truely they changed it whiles kumasi stadium still remains Baba yara , everybody in the Ashanti region welcomed it . Nobody talked about the decision to revert ohene gyan stadium to accra soorts stadium but if this had happened in kumasi u would 've hear from people insulting Ashanti's all because of an unnecessary hatred . Fools , hypocrites meanwhile Ashanti's like outsiders more than any other tribes in Ghana .
