I love pothos. They’re so underrated! I have a cutting pot going and it just took off! It’s got so much new growth and is filling out so fast! And it can be neglected and still thrive!
Uh I love this. I sometimes have to ground myself & look at ALL of my babies & appreciate them. Sometimes I get so wrapped up into these trendy rare houseplants & I stop appreciating the ones that got me into this hobby in the first place. I have spent so much money on these expensive plants & yes they make me happy, but recently I have stopped. My last purchase was a boobie cactus so I think that's a good place to end the rare plant buying for the year lol. I need to really start appreciating the plants for their beauty again, not their pricetag. We get so wrapped up into that sometimes so I'm ready to get humble again with my babies. 😂🌿💚
Ah...so true. Sometimes we let it get away from us but taking a step back and appreciating the ones you have really helps and reminding you why you got into plants in the first place. 😊
I agree. No matter what I do my dieffenbachia turns yellow and wilts. Too much water, too little, too much light, too little. Nothing works. Just more frustration. About to just chuck it.
That intro, hilarious! Unicorn tears! 🤣 Love this video series. Please keep them coming! I agree that the more common Scindapsus are definitely underrated! I actually just ordered an Exotica in place of the Treubii and I feel it will have just as strong an impact! 💗🌿
I have marble queen pothos, in early of my plant game its the one that keep me excited, when the other plant takes time to grow, i always see new leaf popping out from my pothos and it makes me happy, thank you pothos you keep my spirit alive when other didnt show any progress 😊.. Btw that unicorn tears 😂
That's really sweet!! I love my golden pothos, which I'm proud of because she's 100% from 15 leaf w/node cuttings! My boss had a lanky and mealy bug infested pothos in her office, so I took it home,, trimmed it down and changed out the soil after hosing all the mealy bugs off with soapy water. I took the cuttings and it took 8 to 12 weeks to root and 2 years later, she is super healthy and happy!! My boss got her rehab plant back, but I kept her sister plant from the cuttings with me. 😂
I too almost killed my dieffenbachia. I made the mistake of reporting it into too big of a pot. I was able to revive it and now it’s thriving! It’s finally starting to get bigger and more variegated leaves again 😊 I’m so proud.
Please do a specific video on dieffenbachia (propagation, caring, soil type, fertilizer, when to water and when to not) if u can do a plant of the week or plant of the months and full details about the plant it will help people who live in Canada , Ontario ( especially) thank you
That intro was everything! I love all the plants you showcased. I have variations of them and I agree that plants that are readily available are just as great!
I don't have an Alocasia but all the rest you mentioned are definitely favorites of mine too! Especially the Pothos....I have several Pothos: N Joy, Pearls and Jade, Marble, Manjula, Golden, Snow Queen, Exotica, Silvery Anne......I LOVE them all!! I think all Hoyas are beautiful but after you go thru the Carnosas, Obovata, Kerrii, Pubicalyx, Wyettii (sp?), Krinkle 8 and the bean and grass looking ones they do start to look the same. I watched a video of a growing facility in Indonesia and the grower couldn't even tell them apart without reading labels! I hear all the blooms are magnificient and unique but none of my Hoyas have bloomed yet. Anyway, have a great week, Christian! And thank you for the informative and entertaining videos!
Alocasia and Dieffenbachia win hands down for elegance with me…I love it when I see videos where others have a passion for them too… I long for the day of a huge Alocasia again as mine was attacked 3 times by spider mite but I haven’t given up. I salvaged parts I could and now have 4 little plantings and 2 bulbs…(are they called bulbs ) that are doing amazingly well and it’s exciting watching them grow ❤️👍👍👍👍
My oldest plant is a dieffenbachia! It is the mom to dozens of my friend's plants. But, alas, I now throw away her cuttings. There are only so many people that want the cuttings! She was given to me by my boss when I was in my 20s in the 1970s. I no longer repot her - but she seems happy - although I keep her small now, since she used to be about 5' tall. Great video!
@@CrazyPlantGuy yes definitely. It was me who made a mistake. I bought a marble queen and a golden pathos as small plants I re-potted too quick before they had established a good root system the golden pathos made it but my unfortunately not the queen. But you live and you learn, it still pains me though 😒 I will have another in my collection when I come across one 😃
Thank you for this video! I’ve recently transitioned from having a black thumb to being able to keep several low maintenance plants alive thanks to your tips!
First! Lol Just when I thought it was "safe".....you launch another video! I'm still adopting more kids....6 more coming! I also had to buy more shelves and hanging planters. Omg! I will try not to adopt anymore starting December. Riiiiiiight!
I love the dumb cane plants like addicted. I've got my first one(osaka) a few months ago and then just recently got another(honeydew) and love them. I've planted in a well draining soil into a terracotta pot both pots are 6inch and they are doing extremely well. Soils the espoma organics soil mixed with a little bit of miracle grow soil both potting mixes. But I do use the espoma indoor plant fertilizer and they both are responding very well thus far. I am in a apartment with only one window(sliding balcony door) south facing and they are about 4.5ft roughly for the honeydew and about 12ft for the other away from the sliding door.
The thing i love about this diffenbachia is that it'll grow its leaves back in places where it lost it. So even when you loose some leaves, you still have a chance to fix your plant
I love my alocasia purple sword/ lauterbachiana! I was so confused when I went to my garden center recently and they had about 10 of them there on clearance just because they weren't selling.
I love this video, I’m a huge dieffenbachia fanatic!!! I have dieffenbachia’s tropic snow, Camille, Vesuvius & splash. The one that you said you want is called camouflage. Awesome video thanks so much for sharing!!!
Hey Crazy Guy! I love your humor. If you are looking for that Purple Sword Alocasia, you may want to look for Alocasia Lauterbachiana. I believe that is the Botanical name of it. Take care, love your videos .
Great video! I am very tired of fake plant people who just want to show off they can afford insanely pricy and rare plants. You should do a video on house plants that are not talked about often in the plant community but not 'rare'. Example: Rainbow Moss, Cyclamens, Easter Lily, etc
scindapsus pictus, the silvery hybrid, if u plant them with a purplish Tradescantia pallida purpurea, they would pair up so nicely, i discovered by accident actually.
I have three dieffenbachia that are my pride and joys. When we moved into our new house, it was one massive one, 8ft at least in the corner. The stem rotted in half and I got 3 propogations from it. 3 years later, I have 3 3ft plants😊❤
Thank you for putting the spot light on "common" house plants. I feel that more and more people are getting caught up in the "rare" plants and forget the beauty of the "common". I have all the ones you highlighted but the elephant ear. That is next on my list.
I have golden pothos and diaffenbachia and I put in shade place, they're very strong and impossible to killing, althought I'm forgot about watering schedule (sometimes ignorant) maybe once a week, but they still grow healthy, more huge, more lush, and looks very good.. 😂😂
Your intros are hilarious even when rewatching. I prefer Aglaonema's to Dieffenbachias, but I agree with you on the satin pothos and hoyas 😍. Two of my fave common plants will forever be the Bonnie spiderplant and the neon pothos.
Ever since I try to repot my dieffenbachia, I became lazy leaving a pair in two separate pots of water. It has been half a year now and they have adjusted to being in water. The water is not deep just half an inch; they are by a south facing window. I repotted them since there were 3 plants in a small 4 in pot; that's how I got them. The two in water seem to be much taller than the one left in the original pot with soil.
@7:15 Dieffenbachia 'Camouflage'. If I could find a nice looking specimen, I'd get one, but they always look so beat up in stores. I have a (very small) Dieffenbachia 'Reflector'

I love the scindaptus pictus. I love the marble queen but I killed it. I have other pothos that thrive. I will try again. I really want the Hoya obovato. Good to know that it is easy to care for. Nice that you support other plant you tubers. You are always a class act!
So I’m just now stumbling on your channel and I have a dieffenbachia but I’m not sure which one I have, it’s about three feet tall and her variegation is so stunning it’s one of my favorite plants that I have. Her leaves are easily a foot to a foot and a half long and may seven or eight inches wide. I can’t wait to try and propagate some littles from her, and speaking of do you have any information on propagating dieffenbachias? Could you make a video on that if you do? I’d be ever so grateful!
Thank you Christian for your awesome knowledge of plants!! A few videos ago I spotted your Dieffenbachia camouflage behind you ( at that time I didn’t know what it was called) I have one that is doing quite well. I also have a Alocasia regal shield that is 5feet tall , it’s has HUGE leaves and I love it!!!!! Looking forward to more content and oh as for your acting...... Your hired!!! 😁
I have a silvery Ann so is defo go for her she’s slow growing but so pretty mine has quite big leaves too I love the silver specs on the green thick leaves 😍

That’s awesome. I’d live to see one with huge leaves, they’re so beautiful even with small ones, so can’t imagine how stunning it would be.
