One thing not very well documented at all is how to extend the life of your Apple Pencil's battery. Normally it can't be turned off. It just goes to sleep when it's not being used, but the battery will still slowly drain to nothing over a few weeks. If you want to turn the battery off, then go to Settings, Bluetooth, turn off bluetooth, then turn bluetooth right back on. Your Apple Pencil will no longer be connected. Moving it does nothing. The charge will last for many months. You actually have to attach it to your iPad again to turn it back on. Doing this when your Apple Pencil battery is somewhere between 50% and 80% will extend your Apple Pencil too. Also, 1st Gen Apple Pencil should be charged via a charger, not the iPad's Lightning port. The iPad quickcharges it whereas a regular charger gives it a slower, less stressful charge.
That's a great tip! Nice.
I recommend creating a shortcut to toggle Bluetooth off which you can add as an app icon (Bookmark) on your homescreen or to a shortcut widget
Forget a few weeks, how about a couple of days, even if its just sitting around unused in that time.
Do yourself a favour and enjoy the product. Doing all this to make it last what??? A year more maybe?
What charger?
just watched a few vids- great pace, good scripting, fine editing. I'm in the process of going paperless in my studio, these tips are invaluable. I'm an old dog (born in the 60s) learning new tricks. Woof! Thank you --
Glad I could be helpful! Always nice learning something new
first , by the way i dont have an apple pencil (not even an iPad) but Byte Review i come for your quality
Haha thank you
I have three iPads Pro, two iPads mini, and four and a half Apple Pencils and if they all got eaten by wild dogs I’d still come for the quality.
@@rgrtht y do u have so much-
@@rgrtht four and a half Apple Pencil?
These were such great tips, thank you. The Apple Pencil is one tool that makes using the iPad fun even if you are not an artist; its the best stylist you can buy for your iPad.
Agreed!
Stylus.
Agreed. It's a great stylus.
the three finger swipe action works in every app. that’s an useful tip I didn’t know. thanks.
New to “Apple Pencil” (bought a dupe as couldn’t afford the real deal) also hubby just bought me iPad Air 5th gen &i I’ve just came upon your CZcams channel, luv it, so incredibly informative, useful & much needed…… thank you so much!!
Thanks for all that info! I barely use my pencil bc I don’t know all its functions. Your video helped me a lot! 👏
Great content, well organized, quick fire but enough detail to get the tip. Subscribed!
LOVE this video!
So many useful apple tips and tricks I didn’t know I needed. Thanks!
Some of these definitely blew my mind. Thanks for the tips!
Great video man. Solid refresher on the Pencil!
ayyyyy thanks for stopping by!
I love the screenshot function I had no idea it could do that. Thanks! I do wish the gmail app had the same pencil functionality as the apple mail app.
I Love these tips! Trying them with my new Apple Pencil for my iPad Air 4 now
The funny thing about using it more than a full size keyboard, is that it is true. I got the expensive magic keyboard and after a year of using my ipad I can honestly say I rarely used it. Just picked up a $20 slim case with a pencil holder and I prefer to use swipe with predictive text. Now if only Apple would give us back the split keyboard on Pro models...
Yeah I'm not into keyboards on an iPad either, my main case is just the smart folio from Apple!
Split keyboard is trash
I have the Magic Keyboard as well and don’t use it anymore, I use a keyboard for my iPad but a Bluetooth one so I can easily switch between keyboard and writing by hand with putting the keyboard next too me while my iPad is still in its case. And not having to take the iPad of the keyboard and having no protection while I write with my pencil.
Great one! I subscribed, Thanks! Any suggestions on Apps, tricks and tips for writing and editing music with Apple Pencil 2? Cheers! 👍🏻👍🏻
I have been looking for this all day. Thank you very much.
Awesome tips! Thank you so much!!
Great tips, some I knew but some I didn't! Thanks for the video!
Great video m8. A lot of really useful tips here, thanks! 👍
I followed the instructions and it easily worked!
Accessible touch has a tap for screenshot, no weird combination of buttons just a tap. I’d love it if it could convert handwritten text on paper to text on the ipad. Thanks for your review, very tempted!
Fantastic video thank you. I didn’t know any of these. Definitely going to check out your other hints and tips and share this…
Good stuff! Excellent video. Thanks!

Very informative thanks
This is amazing, I just got my iPad mini 6th gen. and now planning to get me the pencil. thank you 🙏🏼
Very good info
Great video- thank you!
Probably not the most useful feature, but it is a cool thing to know. The pressure sensitivity of the apple pencil can be utilised to make navigation around your iPad marginally faster, when you would normally press and hold on something for a desired action (such as pressing and holding the brightness controls to access the true tone and night mode settings or pressing and holding on an app to display the options including the option to uninstall), pressing harder with the pencil will reduce the delay anywhere from normal delay (light press) to no delay at all (heavy press).
awesome tip/tricks!
Thank you as always for these tips and videos!
You're welcome dude!
Great ideas in here. I already use them and I still enjoyed the video!
Very useful, thank you
Thank you so much! I never knew about the undo swipe! I get frustrated outside of Procreate because I didn't think there was an undo tipe\swipe option.
Thanks for the tips. I am getting one today
These were really interesting. Thanks
Thank you so much for these helpful tips! ( Omg the screenshot gesture! Thank you, this was the most helpful tip I've seen since I purchased my iPad!)
So gooood! I use that one a lot now
That was great! Thanks! Did not know about the three finger undo/redo.
Me either until recently! So good

Dope video, learned a lot.
One of the best insight I came across.
Thank you for this video. I had my pencil for a few months and barely used it because I didn’t know how. My search for tips like how to erase, led me to you!
Very useful video. I learned a few tricks I didn’t know existed. Many thanks!
Glad it was helpful!

Didn’t know about the drawing insert feature for iOS Mail. Great vid!
Glad I could help!
Subbed. Great content and style:)
Well-presented and so useful--I also like the pace--not rushed. Thanks.
Glad you enjoyed it!
Thank you
I watched five or six apple pencil tips before this one. This is the best. I especially like the way he indicates pencil 1 or pencil 2. Good job.
Glad it was helpful 🙏🏻
Nice tips👌🏻
Omg thank you! I’m mainly using my iPad for artwork, so any hints and tips re the pencil are so useful! I do use the notes app a lot so all these shortcuts are brilliant, and the screenshot gesture is like witchcraft 🤣
Glad you enjoyed!
Very cool
Tank you for explaining it all so methodically for us that are little slower with tech :) thank you!

Nice thank you :)
Watching your beautiful videos is always mind refreshing for me ❤️. You present any topics so beautifully ❤️👌. You are a very creative content creator 🙏. Please do keep making regular videos. Thanks !
Thank you so much 😊
Thanks for the tip mate, going to try this with my apple pencil tonight ✏👍
Yeeeee give it a go!
Good stuff man✌️
The draw up to add a space between words is a great tip! Thank you!
Thanks
Solid video. 👍
I just got the iPad Pro 12.9" 2021 model back in February, the pencil just a couple of weeks ago. I'm just learning the shortcuts the pencil has to offer and the biggest one I found helpful was the drawing of perfect shapes by holding down the pencil at the end of the drawing. This is neat.
I sure wished these tools like the ipad and apple pencil were available when I was studying, would have made the process absolutely enjoyable.
Agreed. I would have killed for these back at school or college!
Thank u for the tips.. do you have any video on signing documents and emails with apple pencil? Tnx
I sam likely goning to buy the ipad pro and pencil, your videos are very helpful.
Love the video, I was pretty much enjoying the tv in the background 😂😂 what show is that?
I subscribed u because u have got My Neighbour Totoro playing in the back….loved that movie and now ur content too ….
W. O. W. My favorite is the auto shape. Thanks brother.
Great content- thanks! You can tap a playing CZcams video, and use the pencil to seek through a video with good precision!
Been using the Apple Pencil for a long time now and was not aware of some of these tips. Thanks Bro. Subscribed.
Glad I could help!
In addition to the (frankly bloody handy) three finger swipes for undo & redo, I stumbled on the three finger tap to display a teeny, tiny undo/redo menu bar at the top of the screen, which I find useful if I’m having a little Undo Anxiety™.
You all know what I’m talking about.
Mind blown with screenshot
Thank, an excellent video. I wish to use my iPad with the magic pencil to teach english by connecting it to a tv. I just have to sort out the connectors!
I just subscribed 👍🏼👍🏼👍🏼 think I only used mine for shapes, sometimes writing and screenshots lol 😂 thought it was a waste of time buying it, cause I don’t draw or colour in . Thank you for showing me SO much more 🥰
You're welcome! and welcome to the channel too!
Good Video
All really useful. Also struck me how much of the old Newton MessagePad functionality has been brought into iPad OS now.
Thanks for remembering the Newton - the first true PDA and before it’s time. I think it helped Steve Jobs get demoted!
Totoro in the background! 😍😍😍😍
Thanks for the video, very informative. I'm looking to purchase a drawing pad or iPad predominately to use the pencil feature and freeform app to use in conjunction with a Mac mini but would like a iPad to brainstorm with (design) clients out and about. As funds are very low due to M2 purchase! Am I best off starting with a drawing pad and Apple Pencil to begin with? Also, what gen iPads offer all these cool drawing features, i.e should I avoid older models? I'm a bit lost with all this!
Keep up the great work. Thanks.
Hi
I have ordered a generation 1 2015 for my Apple pro 12.9 pencil hoping it’s compatible as I have sent 2 pencils already. I have downloaded procreate so can’t wait to use it. Thankyou
