- Plants vs Zombies and its sequels have spanned over a decade of continuous development, with the cast of plants being drastically changed and altered over time to meet the demands of new games and updates. Often, analysing how plants have changed over time really puts in to perspective how much the franchise has changed in its over 15 year run.
The plant we’ll be looking at today is none other than Snow Pea, a plant who’s undergone one of the biggest glow ups and glow downs of the entire plant cast. So how exactly has this plant experienced such a turbulent roller coaster ride of changes and transformations? How did it go from completely OP to painfully average? Well, lets chronologically analyse the history of Snow Pea in the mainline Plants vs Zombies games!

The worst part of pvz3 snow pea is that with no proper almanac system I had no idea that it did less damage. I only learnt until recently
Well, seems that Snowpea is gonna receive a "buff" , she will shoot slower at the cost of doing more damage. We have to see.

Did you know in pvz 1, according to the tree of wisdom, multiple snow peas in a single lane do not slow down the zombies any better than just one.
of course, that would be really op if it did...
I really like Snow Pea’s design, it’s a shame that it had to be outclassed for as long as it did.

Pvz3 Snow pea was actually buffed/nerfed?! It now fires slower but does more damage
Thats more like a nerf to me, since i thing snowpea's gig is being a peashooter that also slows down zombies
And with inceasing damage and decreasing attack speed it makes the slows down zombies worse since less uptime
Sounds like a nerf, actually, since you want more hits with snow pea, to impact the most amount of zombies in a line.

It's more of a nerf than a buff. The point of using snow pea is to slow down enemies, and slower fire rate will make it worse at slowing down enemies.
This isn't a buff or a nerf. The slower speed but higher damage means it holds similar DPS as before while still being able to apply chill to a zombie regularly. Why was this change even made?
I never thought me watching PVZ challenge runs would resort into me watching this channel more about the history of each plants. Great job Koala i loved PVZ1 and havent bothered going into pvz2 due to its other issues

Snow Pea has been my favorite plant literally ever since I started playing this game like 10 years ago, I was upset how they massacred my boy by locking him behind a paywall (and totally not because they named him Ice Pea in the GW games.)
At least he is able to solo bucketheads in both versions, that's one of the things why I love him.

12:24 Snow pea doing half as much damage per second but slowing by 50% is still useful, if you have both a snowpea and a peashooter it will be like having three peashooters because the peashooter is double as effective, this sounds like a good change to me as it makes the snow peas by themselves no more than a regular peashooter but in concert with other plants is where they exceed, though I have not played the game so I can't know.
my thoughts exactly, it seems very dismissive to just say that pvz3 snow pea is weak sauce if the effective power is practically equivalent to a peashooter and slowing down zombies boosts the effective damage of other plants too
@@WillMAW2 Yes, however this does seem to imply there is a focus more on strategy for this game, in which case they've failed miserably. They need more unique functions for plants to do, niche ones that only apply when paired with other plants/zombies, like a Bonk choy being able to team up with a nut defensive plant by having an ability with a cooldown where it can raise the nut up then drop it back down to smash zombies, perhaps every 30 seconds a Bonk choy could do this. These are the kinds of things they need to add to make more strategy.

New series idea: no projectile shotting plants. So no shooters, catipults or similar plants. Ground based plants like spikeweed and explosives like Cherry Bomb and Potato Mine are allowed. If a plant uses itself for a attack, like Guaodile are also allowed. It may not shoot any projectiles though. Basicly anything airborne might count as a projectile

Where in the first game newspaper also counters snow pea because well his newspaper blocks the chilling property. They actually buffed it to where he can affect the newspaper zombie even with his newspaper!
I think it’s should be ladder zombie bc he’s running fast with ladder and his ladder have same lv toughness with conehead zombie can block any pea attack

Probably, since he's pretty good in pvz 2 mods
Kernel is best in pre-leveling PvZ 2 as well as in mods where many high cost plants are nerf so an early game option is needed
Eclise Beta had pretty much no consistent early game plant imo besides Kernel so I used him for pretty much the entire game lol
I feel like this all began because they made Snow Pea a premium plant in PVZ2 or something.

Ngl Snowpea and Kernel Pult are pretty similar in PvZ1. Both have potential but get outclassed quickly. However they are useful in niches
But at least kernel pult can upgrade to cob canon in later game while almost no one care about snow pea
@@greeddydude I say Kernel Pult is the better plant (660nj thought it was the worst plant in the game lol) ... I mean it's too weak IMO and the buffs PvZ 2 gave made it good especially with Snapdragon and Spikeweed

I'm sorry I think you mean to ask how Snow Pea went from O-Pea to Pea-nfully average.
i mean snowpea dealing less damage while costing the same isn't the worst, even in the first game you'd deal more damage per tile using 1 snowpea and 2 peashooters for only 25 extra sun compared to buying 2 snows, you only really used it for the slowing effect so making it cheaper is actually a considerable buff.
the issue is actually the lack of plant selection, there is no risk reward between using another slot to increase your general damage verses taking another insta to deal with higher health zombies. pvz3 is a strategy game with its biggest strategic element removed, it's why i hate the locked and loaded stages in pvz2, they only really work as tutorials for new plants because you're so limited in options but pvz1 already shown you just give the plant when you actually need it, like cactus is a forgettable plant but you don't forget to use it cause when you unlock it there's baloon zombies next stage.
