  • Planets quite different from our own may be the best homes for life in the universe. Here is how.

    7:45 Overall I'm enjoying this video but there's a common problem here. Evolution is NOT about the "strong" surviving and the "weak" perishing. It's about the life forms most capable of adapting to changes in the environment reproducing more and those less capable reproducing less.
    Compared to the wolf the rabbit is weak. And yet both have flourished, because both have evolved successful strategies for adapting to their environments.

      Thanks for your remark sir. By "strong" we mean something like the "fittest". More enclosed continents - more chance for some endemics with possibly incredible properties.

    I broke another word in Wow signal, it says watch 581D. WHY? Another says "the last of 5" besides the above. 5 has been used twice in this cipher, why? I already got 6EQUJ5, it is an obscentity. I do not understand and I never heard of 581D. Is it hostile?

    This video bugs the hell out of me.I
    among a myriad of problems, one in particular was the equivocation of a planets size to a planets gravity. This is NOT how that works!
    Surface Gravity is relative to the RADIUS and MASS (and more specifically the DENSITY) of the planet, not just it's 'size'. This is because you aren't equally affected by all parts of the planet, what matters is the amount of material underneath you going to the core of the planet. A planet can be two times the radius of earth and only have 1.5 times the gravity, as just one example.
    please stop this amateur crap.

      We were talking about Earth and completely identical double sized Earth. And by discussing exoplanets similar to Earth we imply this. Sorry for the misunderstanding - next time we will definitely say this moment.

    The fact that we all evolved in this planet means that this is the best place for our species or something close to it...unless we all rapidly evolve to successfully procreate in alien lands and certain adaptations will take millions if not billions of years to occur if left by itself. We are fooling ourselves if we think we can terraform Mars and live there long term when those resources could have been better spent to keep earth as habitable as possible!

    • @SpaceHubb
      @SpaceHubb  Před rokem +1

      Humanity already done the impossible. Your points are very good sir. But at least, we should try. Just because our Earth is constantly changing. And we will have to adapt for something like new climate, oxygen levels etc anyway even on Earth at some point.

    Well 1st they have to actually find a planet that can be colonized. The next problem is travel time. With current tech, it would take appox 1,488,000 years to reach a planet 40 LY's away. That equals about 37,288 years per light year. So unless something drastically changes in space travel tech, it's a pipe dream to ever colonize another planet so far away.

      You are right. But at least we can watch and thanks to JSWT evens sniff them. Seemed impossible 100 years ago too. Who knows sir, maybe quantum gravity theory will give us the way.

    Why are we talking about planets thousands of light years away when we can’t even get to the dead planet next door. I would think our world will end before we even come close to finding a way to travel that far.
