What's Inside An Anthill?

  • When you look at a fire ant hill - or mound as it’s properly called - you’re actually seeing just the top of an enormous underground structure: the ant’s nest. Inside, a vast network of tunnels and chambers plunge up to 2 meters into the soil. Ants ferry their young up and down these tunnels to keep them at the best temperature to grow.

Also interesting is what a anthill says about ants. It shows they are much like humans. Some ants are lazy and drop the dirt they are carrying right at the entrance to the colony. Some ants(most) are good workers and drop their load in the middle and highest part of the pile of dirt removed from the hive. Some ants are great workers and drag their loads all the way to the outer edge of the anthill. They even grab the dirt the lazier ants drop by the entrance and drag it out to the outer edge of the pile. This is why you have the ring around the colony with the highest part where the average ants drop their load.

Some ants lay very few eggs in a day, some lay much more. Some need higher temps and humidity, some need lower. Do you think ants even want to get rewarded for their hard work?
They do their best every single day, never complain and never get rewarded

    What's inside an ant hill?

if someone pee on it, they will curse you.

There was an ant colony nested in the old concrete and brick walls of my rented apartment for 2 years. Now I can't find them. Maybe they left just like in the video said.
