      @@Abikuttan My friend if we disconnect only the negative (-) terminal of the battery then we cut the power supply to all electrical systems of the car and there is no problem. This way is the safest and thus there is no risk of short circuit, unlike the positive (+) terminal of the battery.

    There are videos on CZcams where you install all 4 injectors into the fuel rail 1st then push whole unit evenly into the injector wells.... That is probably the method I will do... My injectors are operating fine but I have a P0171 code and I sprayed top of injectors with Carb Cleaner and it choked down... I am replacing O-Rings only on a 2005 Corolla (top and bottom O-Rings I suppose)... They are same size as far as I know...

    • @YiannisPagonis
      @YiannisPagonis  Před 8 měsíci +2

      A P0171 code typically indicates that your Toyota is experiencing issues with a dirty or defective mass airflow (MAF) sensor or a vacuum leak downstream of the MAF sensor (perhaps in the PCV line or the valve itself). Of course, this signal could also indicate a faulty O2 sensor in bank 1.

    You should have depressurized the fuel rail before disassembly. You can depressurize by starting the engine then while its running remove the 15amp EFI fuse and the engine would stop coz there will be no duel pressure.

      You can still get some fuel leakage even if you do properly depressurize the fuel lines. I remember when I replaced the fuel filters on my old Ford Contour & Honda Civic. I made sure to depressurize the fuel lines on both, but there was still some leakage.

    • @itsnotfunny8257
      @itsnotfunny8257 Před 2 lety +8

      First of all it's not a fuse it's a relay, there's a difference. Secondly you don't take the relay off when the engine is running you take it off before you crank the engine and then wait for the fuel lines to run dry. What this guy did was real life practical maybe not perfect but that's what mechanics do.

    • @YiannisPagonis
      @YiannisPagonis  Před 2 lety +2

      Such could be due to a big vacuum leak, an air induction fault like a stuck idle air control valve or, considering fuel, could be due to a failed temperature sensor that must be working properly to signal the PCM to enrich the mixture on cold start. Other common faults are defective spark plugs or a defective coil.😊😊

    Wait why did you take off the negative instead of the possitve on the battery?? Other way around

    • @YiannisPagonis
      @YiannisPagonis  Před 2 lety +1

      Be aware that we always disconnect the negative terminal of the battery (ie ground) and not the positive terminal to avoid a short circuit. The grounded terminal should be disconnected first to ensure that a battery dead-short does not occur, should the spanner disconnecting the other one contact a nearby grounded metal part. A battery dead-short will result in short circuit currents of the order of hundreds of amperes and heavy sparks.
      What happens when you disconnect the negative terminal?
      If you remove the negative clamp and inadvertently complete a circuit to ground, there will be no current flow because the ground clamp is already grounded. Subsequent shorting of the positive terminal to ground will then produce no current flow because the current has no return path to the negative post.

    Now that its colder its a little more frequent.

    -new intake manifold gasket (oem orange upgrade)
    -new maf sensor
    -cleaned throttle body and blade
    -checked for vacuum leaks
    -ran a bottle of gumout (with p.e.a.) in last tank full
    Can you think of anything else I could try? I know this engine is one of the best built and should not be doing this as infrequent as it is.

      Μπράβο φίλε μου για την προσπάθεια που κάνεις στο να συντηρείς μόνος σου το αυτοκίνητο σου. Σου αξίζει ένα μεγάλο μπράβο. Υπάρχουν πολλά ακόμα πράγματα (μικρά και μεγάλα) που μπορείς να κάνεις μόνος σου αλλά όλα αυτά θα γίνουν με τον καιρό. Εάν έχεις κάποιο τεχνικό εγχειρίδιο του αυτοκινήτου σου τότε σίγουρα αυτό θα σε βοηθήσει πάρα πολύ. Τώρα για τις ερωτήσεις σου έχω να σου πω τα παρακάτω: (Well done my friend for the effort you make to maintain your car yourself. You deserve a big thumbs up. There are many other things (big and small) that you can do on your own but all of this will happen over time. If you have a technical manual of your car then this will definitely help you a lot. Now for your questions I have to tell you the following:)
      1. Τα μπεκ ψεκασμού στο αυτοκίνητό σας διαρκούν συνήθως μεταξύ 50.000 και 100.000 μιλίων. Το χρονικό διάστημα που διαρκεί το μπεκ (εγχυτήρας) έχει να κάνει με τον τύπο της βενζίνης που χρησιμοποιείται στο αυτοκίνητο και τη συχνότητα αλλαγής του φίλτρου καυσίμου. (The fuel injectors on your car will typically last between 50,000 and 100,000 miles. The length of time that the injector lasts has a lot to do with the type of gas that is used in the car and how often the fuel filter is changed).
      2. Στην ιδανική περίπτωση, θα πρέπει να εκτελείτε συνήθη συντήρηση συστήματος ψεκασμού καυσίμου και καθαρισμό σώματος πεταλούδας κάθε 75.000 μίλια. (Ideally, you should perform routine fuel-injection system maintenance and throttle body cleaning every 75,000 miles).

      Replace fuel injectors o-rings. Leaks are generally caused by an o-ring failure between the injectors and fuel rails. Engine heat can make the o-rings brittle and crack them, which then causes the fuel injector leak.

      @@eatentravel Where is the fuel pump check valve located?
      A fuel pump has a two-port check valve, one that is located on the pump's inlet and one that is located on the pump's outlet. The check valve is designed to make the fuel in the vehicle only flow in the correct direction from the fuel pump and to maintain pressure.
      How do you check a check valve?
      Place a hand on the valve and put your ear next to the valve if the temperature of the fluid will allow you to do so safely. Any sound of fluid running indicates a leak. • @YiannisPagonis
      @YiannisPagonis  Před 4 lety +1

      Why is my car blowing black smoke when I accelerate?
      with diesel engines, black smoke in the exhaust can occur during hard acceleration. But if the engine continues to produce black smoke, the engine is getting too much fuel. The underlying cause may be incorrect injector timing or an injection control problem.
      What does it mean when black smoke comes out of your exhaust?
      This typically indicates a rich fuel condition in the engine. A fuel mixture that's described as "rich" means that a ratio of too much fuel to not enough air is being burned in the engine. The unburned gasoline fumes exit via the tailpipe as black, acrid smoke.

    • @YiannisPagonis
      @YiannisPagonis  Před 4 lety +3

      1. What does it mean when your car's RPM go up and down?
      Hi There, It sounds like you may have a dirty or failing idle air control valve causing your engine idle to fluctuate. ... When this happens, the job of the idle air control valve is to bring this deceleration down to a slow and smooth idle rather than suddenly cutting off the fuel supply causing the motor to die.
      2. What causes RPM gauge to fluctuate?
      Erratic engine idle can be caused by various factors, but the most common and likely cause is a dirty or malfunctioning Mass Air Flow (MAF) sensor. This is a device found in fuel-injected cars and measures air flow so that the appropriate amount of fuel can be injected.
      3. Why does the smoke from the car rise?
      While there are several different causes, such as coolant entering the combustion chamber, a cracked engine block or cylinder head, or a leaking head gasket, if you notice any smells associated with the smoke, such as a sweet smell, the coolant may be the cause of the smoke.

      @@afgluda Toyota Corolla: P219A Meaning, Causes, & Diagnosis
      P219A is a generic OBDII code. The code indicates that your Toyota Corolla’s air/fuel ratio is out of balance (too rich or too lean).
      Your Corolla is equipped with oxygen sensors that measure the air-fuel ratio of your engine. It’s these sensors that are reporting the problem with the air-fuel ratio.
      With P219A are two scenarios:
      The oxygen sensors are correct and the air-fuel ratio is off.
      The oxygen sensors are giving correct data, and the air-fuel ratio is off on bank 1.
      P219A Definition: Air Fuel Ratio Imbalance (Bank 1)
      The definition of P219A is two parts and relatively straightforward.
      1. Air Fuel Ratio- Imbalance
      The ideal air/fuel ratio for a gas engine is 14.7 parts air to 1 part fuel (14.7:1). If there is too much fuel or too much air in the mixture, your Corolla’s air/fuel ratio is considered out of balance.
      2. Bank 1
      Bank 1 is the side of the engine with the first cylinder. If your Corolla has an in-line four or in-line six-cylinder engine, you don’t need to worry about this at all. Your engine will have only one head, and therefore only one bank. You can skip down to the next section.
      If your Corolla has a V6 or V8, you need to determine which side of the engine is bank one. The oxygen sensor(s) on the first bank side of the engine is what’s reporting the problem. While it can be annoying trying to determine which side of the engine bank one is on, it makes the diagnosis a little easier since we can use the swap test.
      P219A Symptoms: Toyota Corolla
      Often, the only sign that your vehicle has P219A is the check engine light. Here are some of the symptoms that can occur in the Toyota Corolla:
      Engine Misfire- This can be noticeable misfiring. But, it’s more likely that you’ll only know of the misfiring due to the presence of another trouble code. You’ll likely see either P0300 or P030X, where the X represents the cylinder that is misfiring.
      Check Engine Light- As stated above, the check engine light is often the only symptom of P219A. But, this code is most likely going to be accompanied by another code. This is a good thing. Other codes can help with the process of elimination. You’ll likely get a lean or rich trouble code with P219A, such as P0171 (Bank 1 too lean) or P0172 (Bank 1 too rich). You could also see a MAF-related code or oxygen sensor related code.
      Decreased Fuel Economy- There may or may not be a drop in fuel economy and engine performance with P219A.
      P219A Causes + Diagnosis: Toyota Corolla
      Here is how you can go about diagnosing P219A at home:
      1. Check for Other Codes
      P219A is usually accompanied by other trouble codes, which is absolutely where you want to start diagnosing it. As you can see in the symptom section above, many codes can accompany P219A. Each of them provides valuable information as to what’s actually going on.
      It is very rare that you would get this code by itself. It doesn’t even tell you if the engine is running rich or lean. It just tells you that it’s doing one of those things.
      Address all of the other codes first. P219A will resolve itself along with resolving the other codes.
      2. Check for Exhaust Leaks
      An exhaust leak can cause your Corolla’s bank one oxygen sensor’s to report that the air-fuel mixture is off. That’s because the exhaust is escaping without ever passing over the O2 sensor.
      Sometimes an exhaust leak can be obvious. You’ll hear it. Sometimes, not so much. Take a look at the exhaust and see if there are any soot marks where the exhaust is escaping.
      3. Inspect the Oxygen Sensor Wiring
      Taking a quick look at the oxygen sensor wiring can save you a lot of trouble. The wiring to the sensor(s) has a hard life. Taking a look and make sure that it is not cracked or damaged in any way.
      An open/short condition can cause an oxygen sensor can send inaccurate data to the PCM/ECM. It only takes a moment and can save a lot of frustration. Repair the harness as necessary.
      4. Swap Test (Only Applies to V6 or V8)
      While it may have been annoying to determine which side of the engine was bank one, it does come with a big advantage. You can swap the oxygen sensors (between the catalytic converter and the engine) to the other side of the exhaust and see if the code “jumps” to the other side of the engine.
      Clear the codes after swapping them. Once you run the engine for a while, P219B should appear if an O2 sensor was causing the problem. If P219A comes back, we know that the O2 sensors are all working correctly and that the problem is more than likely related to the motor. Think vacuum leak, MAF, or bad injector.
      Conclusion
      Start your repair plan by attacking the other codes that have likely appeared with P219A in your

      DTC P0301: Cylinder 1 Misfire Detected
      DESCRIPTION
      When the engine misfires, high concentrations of hydrocarbons (HC) enter the exhaust gas. High HC concentration levels can cause an increase in exhaust emission levels. Extremely high concentrations of HC can also cause increases in the three-way catalytic converter temperature, which may cause damage to the three-way catalytic converter. To prevent this increase in emissions and to limit the possibility of thermal damage, the ECM monitors the misfire rate. When the temperature of the three-way catalytic converter reaches the point of thermal degradation, the ECM blinks the MIL. To monitor misfires, the ECM uses both the Camshaft Position (CMP) sensor and the Crankshaft Position (CKP) sensor. The camshaft position sensor is used to identify any misfiring cylinders and the crankshaft position sensor is used to measure variations in the crankshaft rotation speed. Misfires are counted when the crankshaft rotation speed variations exceed predetermined thres holds. If the misfire count exceeds the threshold levels, and could cause emission control system performance deterioration, the ECM illuminates the MIL and sets a DTC

      1. How do you know if you need a new fuel pressure regulator?
      The engine can be stalling when you start the car or might make an odd sound which should not happen when the engine is running smoothly. There should be no hesitation when you press on the gas or even when you decelerate. If you notice any stalling, you should have the fuel pressure regulator checked.
      2. Bad Fuel Pump Check Valve Symptoms
      A fuel pump check valve is a component of a mechanical fuel pump, which is found on many vehicles that were manufactured before electronic injection. A mechanical fuel pump has a two-port check valve, one that is located on the pump’s inlet and one that is located on the pump’s outlet. The check valve is designed to make the fuel in the vehicle only flow in the correct direction from the fuel pump and to maintain pressure. If a fuel pump’s check valve goes bad, it could cause one or more symptoms:
      a. Low Pressure
      When the fuel pump’s check valve goes bad, it will not be able to maintain the proper amount of pressure, causing the vehicle to run poorly or stall. A fuel pressure gauge can be used to test the amount of fuel pressure when the vehicle is running. If the amount of pressure is lower than the specifications for your car, the check valve may need to be replaced.
      b. Stalling
      If the fuel pump’s check valve is bad, the vehicle may start properly, but stall as soon as the fuel pump turns off. This is due to the lack of pressure, which allows the fuel to flow back into the pump.
      c. No Ignition
      If the check valve is bad, the car may be unable to start. If the car does not start, turning the key so that it is one click away from starting, then repeating this process several times, may build up enough pressure so that the vehicle starts. If that is the case, the check valve is bad and needs to be replaced.

    I have a question I have a 2013 as well, I turn my car on accessory mode before I actually start it I used to hear electronic noise for about five seconds or so and then it goes off (normal) As then I would start my car. Are these the fuel injectors that I used to hear and if I don't hear it anymore but I need to start looking to replace them? Or would that be the fuel pump issue that I was hearing.

      My friend cars with fuel injection will have a whining or whirring noise from the fuel pump when the key is turned 'on'. This sound will come from the FUEL TANK AREA (fuel tank area).

    • @YiannisPagonis
      @YiannisPagonis  Před 2 lety

      Poor maintenance also causes the car to consume more fuel. If you ignore your car's service intervals then you will surely burn more fuel as your engine won't run smoothly. The air elements will be clogged and therefore, more fuel will be required by the car to run for the same kilometre range.
      10 ways to reduce fuel consumption
      Even though we are aware that engines need fuel to run, that does not mean you can’t make some small changes to help you gain some fuel savings.
      1. Keep tires pumped up
      Tires that are underinflated have a higher rolling resistance on the road. This means that with every kilometer traveled, your tires generate more friction and rolling resistance, and hence, will increase fuel consumption. If all your tires are underinflated by 10 psi, this could reduce fuel efficiency by up to 10%.
      2. Lose the weight in your boot
      For those with a habit of keeping everything and anything in the boot, in addition to emergency spares, think twice when loading up next time. Every extra 50kg your car puts on increases fuel consumption by 2%.
      3. Drive with AC
      Driving with the windows down at speeds faster than 80km/h causes a lot of wind resistance, and costs you a lot more fuel. Contrary to what you may think, in this situation, it’s simply more fuel efficient to drive with the aircon on.
      4. Don’t go too fast or too slow
      When cruising down a highway, your engine works hard to overcome wind resistance. You’ll burn up to 15% more fuel at 100 km/h and 25% more at 110 km/h. That might tempt you to drive slow, but if you drive slower than 50 km/h, your engine would drop to a lower gear, thus using up more fuel. In conclusion, a steady 50 - 90 km/h on the highway is best to achieve optimal fuel economy.
      5. Remain steady when accelerating
      Avoid revving your accelerator to a high revolutions per minute (RPM). It’s better for fuel economy, as your engine uses less fuel when it is revolving slower, at a lower RPM.
      6. Avoid braking aggressively
      Slamming on the brakes increases fuel consumption as you need to accelerate again later. This is especially true if you follow too closely behind the vehicle in front of you. Not to mention, tailgating is dangerous and something to avoid.
      7. Cruise in top gear
      If you’re driving an automatic car, make use of cruise control to keep your speed constant. And if you’re driving a manual car, maintain a higher gear when appropriate. In each of these instances, your engines go through less revolutions per minute (RPM) and will reduce your fuel consumption.
      8. Practice predictive driving
      Look to the road ahead and plan your next move. Instead of slamming on the brakes to a complete stop, try slowing down as you approach the red light. Or when reaching the foot of a hill, start accelerating as you edge closer to it rather than when you approach it. Avoid hard accelerations when moving your car from a complete stop, or climbing a hill as it will increase fuel consumption.
      9. Plan your rush hour route
      Stop-start traffic puts a lot of pressure on your engine, thus burns more fuel. When possible, plan your commute to and from work carefully to help you avoid the worst of peak traffic.
      10. Don’t stay idle for long
      If you are waiting for something or someone for more than three minutes, turn off your engine. You may not be moving but as long as your engine is on, it’s burning precious fuel.
