  • Quick review to see if the Bilt Hamber Auto Foam is any good... pleased to say it's a very good product that I would 100% recommend. 300ml of Bilt Hamber to 700ml water = 1 litre of snow foam ;)

    Its a low foam product. More effort has been put into its cleaning abilities than producing a thick foam, you're just wasting product by adding loads more. It will clean perfectly well at the instructed quantities.

      Good thing its a 5 litre bottle then 😊all jokes aside, your right it does clean very well at its instructed quantities. But its my video, and Charlie demands more foam because its fun 🤣

      He is almost certainly well within the instructional quantities (at least, he was in his third attempt).
      First, he put 50ml in a 1L cannon. An MJJC (with the knob fully screwed down) on a K4 would probably dispense around 9.5L for 1L in the cannon (of course, he should really test his own setup and find out his mix ratio from the cannon).
      Going on around 9.5L per litre dispensed from the cannon, 50ml is around half a percent PIR. If I recall BH Auto Foam specifies between 1% and 5%.
      When he put in 300ml to make up a litre in his cannon, he'd have been at around 3% PIR.
      If his car is really dirty and he wants to use it at maximum strength, then he can go up to just under 500ml - Again, I stress that he should really do the bucket-test on his own kit for more accurate figures but those are the likely ball-park numbers we're looking at for what he has.

      @@halfrhovsquaredI have to agree, you should always do the bucket test so you know how to work out your ratios, no point paying good money for products, taking 3 times to get a good foam coverage and wasting a lot of time and product.

  • @ShaksWD

    Best way to calculate your PIR (panel impact ratio):
    Fill up your foam lance bottle with water, turn it to the max output spray and spray it until it’s empty into a measuring bucket. Calculate how much water in the buck (ml) and multiply by 0.04 (4%) and that will give you your dilution ratio for you foam bottle
    E.g i emptied my 1 litre foam lance and measured what’s in the bucket. In the bucket there is 9100ml of water and multiply by 0.04.
    9100 x 0.04 = 364
    364ml of products in a 1 litre foam lance bottle. That will give you the best cleaning power for the Auto Foam for your set up.
    Using it in the winter months I highly recommend especially from the dirt and salt on our winter roads clinging on. It’ll easily dissolve the dirt and you’ll see it running down onto the ground

      I believe you have a decimal incorrect as 1 liter is 1000 ml and you most likely meant 910ml not 9100 ml and by that ratio 36ml product would have sufficed so the 59ml tried first time was already sufficient.
      Normally for a well maintained car 4-5% is good but for a good or deep clean 10% is the sweet spot for me. I would have gone with 100ml for 1 liter and that would be more than enough. I use the product and think it is one of the better but it is more expensive in Sweden where I live.

    • @ShaksWD
      @ShaksWD Před rokem +2

      @@HH79 hi Homan!
      Yes it’s 9100ml. As the water is still coming through from the pressure washer into both the cannon and the output. Try it out as an experiment when you next wash the car and use a 1000ml (1l) measuring jug to measure the how much water it gave you when your cannon is empty on your set up :)
      5% is fantastic for a really deep clean but I find it can degrade your wax during the summer time (unless it’s ceramic coated) so you can dilute it back further depending how dirty the car is (1%-4%) also the other way I find is great and cost effective is by using a spray bottle
      Say you’re using a 500ml spray bottle and it needs a deep clean (5%)
      500 x 0.05 = 25
      25ml of product topped with 475ml of water

    It’s a pre contact wash. I cringed when you went straight in with a contact wash. The foam would’ve lifted the dirt and then you rubbed it all in to your paintwork 🙈 scratch galore! Rinse it all off before the contact wash mate.

    I hear you say: the instructions on the back are ridiculous? Well....think again!! the way you are using the product now, might damage the striping on the car. Anything grey plastic will dull. The panel impact ratio is a formula to follow. Just study a bit, and learn how to use these product the way they supposed to. If you want to play with foam? No problem, but this is a product far to strong to mess with!!! I suggest you try polarblast by autoglym or silk and slide by turtle. If you want to produce thicker foam with a consumer grade pressure washer, you might also want to replace the orifice in your faom gun. Now it has a 1.2 mm orifice, and if you changed that with an 1.1 mm orifice, you will get thicker foam instantly. Have fun and keep on detailing

  • @Ally.MacMillan
    @Ally.MacMillan Před rokem +4

    You need to take the time and trouble to read and understand the instructions, learn about PIR, otherwise this video is completely pointless and is not a true representation of auto foam. It’s designed to work at its best around 4% PIR, however too many people get hung up on that figure. It can go up or down.
    It soaks and softens dirt. It seems that you think the suds or the foam thickness matters, it doesn’t. In fact, in most cases, the thick clingy foams are the ones that are the least effective.
    Also, it’s a pre wash foam, not a shampoo. Rinse it off at high pressure then proceed with a contact wash with a shampoo which, again, is designed for that purpose.
    The instructions aren’t “crap”, they are the result of extensive research, development and testing, in order to prevent the ignorant public from damaging their vehicles with it.
